More recently, Mossberg has effectively marketed its 500 Home Defense series in .410 gauge. Our immediate Delta neighbors in the Hatchie and Wolf River basins have used the Snake Charmer, Snake Tamer, and Rossi’s Snake Tuffy single shots to good effect for both protection and hunting. Even our neighbors in Mississippi rely on the .410 gauge often for deer hunting, where use of buckshot is legal for deer. Photos show specimen boxes from a limited special law enforcement run of Nobel Sports’ NS412BK Shotshells. These shells come in 25 round boxes. They are brass base plastic loads, 2 1/2 inch filled with 3 each .400 Lead Round Balls. Muzzle velocity from a 25 inch barrel is 1200 feet per second. The factory does not publish muzzle energy, but it is somewhere in the 300 foot-pound vicinity, quite respectable. Taurus Judge owners should expect less, of course, and these shells show pronounced difficulty in extraction with the Judges; a person needs to plan on giving their revolver extractors some help with these, and not expect to reload quickly. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
