This vintage 1894 Winchester was made in 1903 and is in the hard to find 38-55 WCF caliber. The octagon barrel is 26 inches long, bore is very good with sharp bright rifling with scattered pitting in the grooves last 6 inches. This should be a fine shooter with cast or jacketed bullets. The front sight is a Lyman #3, the rear is a period D.W. King California style buckhorn. The barrel and magazine have 80% coverage of thinning blue. The receiver retains traces of blue in protected areas but is mostly silvered out as you can see in the photos. It feeds, chambers and ejects dummy rounds smoothly. I have not had a chance to test fire the rifle but will try to get to the range in the next few days. The wood is tight and solid, no extra holes or significant dents. There is a very small sliver missing in the upper right tang area. There are numerous small handling marks from 100+ years of use but nothing that I would consider bad. The wood is flush in the tang areas. Overall a solid, vintage Winchester in a very desireable caliber that has a lot of years of dependable service left in it.
