In the past two decades, Uberti has emerged as the best quality manufacturer of cowboy firearms. That reputation took some years to achieve, and here is one of the revolvers that helped Uberti achieve it. This is a closely replicated descendant of the original Colt Single Action Army that was introduced in 1873. Instead of a host of names that similar revolvers bear, this one is labeled simply, Single Action Army. That probably created a stir from Colt Industries, and explains all the different names. From its Italian Date Code AU which is hidden under the ejector rod housing but our gunsmith unearthed it, this Uberti was manufactured in 1988. Manufacturer was Aldo Uberti of Gardone, Italy. Importer was Mitchell Arms of Anaheim CA. Type, of course, is Single Action only, capacity 6 rounds of .45 Colt caliber Ammunition. We often refer to the caliber as Long Colt. Finish is bright blue barrel assembly, cylinder, screws and trigger. Main frame is authentic Uberti Color Casehardened. Grip frame is solid brass, brushed finish. Hammer is traditional white sided with blued verticals. Grips are figured Italian Walnut. Barrel is 4 3/4 inch with blade front sight. Weight empty is 41 ounces, with center of gravity directly above the trigger. Surface detractions are minimal, principally weakness to the surface finish on the loading gae, and faint amounts of cylinder rotation marking and a few tiny scours to the right grip panel. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From its superb condition and from our knowledge of its exclusive local owner, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 50 times.
