Fox A Grade 16ga. - 28" #3 WEIGHT BARRELS, CONDITION!

The demand for small bore Fox guns has never been more intense. The Fox 16ga. built on a 20ga. frame has earned it the reputation as being the finest handling of all American doubles, and this gun is no exception. With the lightweight 28" barrels it weighs in at 5lbs. 13oz. and balances perfectly between the hands. Many are unaware that less than 2500 A Grade 16's were produced, and most of the good ones are in safes and will not be offered for sale anytime soon. Built in 1924, this Philly Fox, serial number 301820, remains in excellent original condition (wood has been restored). The value of Fox shotguns continues to climb and with the strong original case color and general high condition, this is a very sound investment vessel in which to plant some of your savings. And...it is a gas to shoot to boot!

The 28" #3 wt. barrels have excellent bores, 99% factory blue, no dents or scratches, 2 1/2" chambers (chambers /forcing cones can be lengthened for reduced recoil/improved patterns, but not required in order to shoot 2 3/4" shells. If you don't know why, ask.), choked M/F (.019/.032, can be altered to your specs), bore diameter .662/.663, minimum barrel wall thickness 37 thou right, 32 thou left, ribs are tight and barrels chime, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin, extractors, clear sharp lettering; GREAT BARRELS!

The action retains 93% strong case color, perfect screws, extractors, clear sharp engraving, crisp double triggers, trigger guard retains 75% factory blue, action tight with lever waaaaay right of center, all in excellent mechanical condition.

The wood has just been restored with a perfect oil finish, excellent checkering, very desirable 1/2 round pistol grip, no cracks or splits, LOP 14 1/8" to factory plate (Silvers pad can be added for length without altering buttstock), 2 7/8" drop at heel, 1 5/8" drop at comb, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs within 14 days of purchase), excellent wood to metal fit. The stock is original to the gun but looks like new!

What a graceful, dynamic gun we have in this fine little Fox. Set up for the ultimate upland bird gun with my favorite chokes for flushing birds, light enough to carry all day long and still shoulder like lightning when that last bird goes up right next to your truck! It is not too difficult to find an A Grade 16ga. Fox for sale, some for less than this one. What has become exceedingly difficult is FINDING ONE WITH LOTS OF ORIGINAL CASE COLOR AND BLUE. Condition is always a good investment and as more and more of the tiny pool of small bore Fox guns gets used up and restored, condition will become more valuable. Take care of this gun and you can make a good profit on it a few years down the road. If this is your kind of gun, don't hesitate as it will not last long.
