This P38 does not look fired. The firing pin shows no suggestion of powder or use. The top of the mag, which is original to the pistol, shows no wear- scratches from rounds chambered. The chamber and the interior of the pistol show no use- no scratching of the slide movement etc. The milling marks (a signature characteristic common to Spreewerk P38s) are visible which evidences that his pistol is original in finish- has not been buffed out for reblue. There is nothing inside or outside this firearm suggesting that it has been put to use. All of the numbers match and there is no import mark. The exposed forward edge of the barrel has the matching serial number as does the interior barrel slide ["922" plus "a"] There are Waffenamt military [swastika] inspection marks everywhere you look- inside and out. The barrel has strong lands and is bright. There is no rust anywhere inside or out. Walther had the main contract for the P38 pistols. Spreewerk had a plant near the Czech border and subcontracted certain parts to Czech plants. Additionally, Spreewerk used some parts manufactured by Walther and Mauser. The hammer appears to be Walther. Even though the receiver shows Spreewerk milling, under the left grip are the numbers "349". The only thing I could decipher is this a number used by Walther. The black Bakelite grips are near new. Inside the right grip at the lower area is a circle containing a "p" over "1528" over "7". On the left grip it is "p" over 1529" over "6". The pistol comes with the original and extra mag. The original is Spreewere ["88" proof]. It also is proofed with the letter "a" which matches the serial number series "a" for the pistol. The spare is of Czech origin with the proofs of "jvd" and "WaA706". Walther P38 9mm Semi-automatic Pistol produced by the Spreewerk factory in occupied Hradek nad Nisou (formerly Grottau), Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. Spreewerk was tasked as the third manufacturer of P38 pistols at the end of 1942 and their guns were marked with the factory code "cyq". This is a "second series" Spreewerk pistol with a "cvq" instead of the "cyq" proof on the left slide. Interesting, the barrel slide is marked "cyq". On the right side of the barrel slide I can make out a "B" followed by a "9". If interested, ask for photos. I have plenty inside and out. PAYMENT OPTIONS- I only accept USPS money orders.
