From one of our brightest young local collectors comes this project worthy Post War Walther Single Shot Barreled Action, complete with all three stock screws. The stock is not included. The rear sight is not included. The trigger guard is not included. We have those for sale on another venue. Manufacturer was Carl Walther of Thuringen, Germany, and so marked. From its 43000 range, W suffix serial number, we estimate the rifle itself was manufactured in 1942, a production mate to similarly numbered KKW Trainers. Stamping only reads, Sportmodell, so our assignment of the V model suffix is questionable. Type is bolt action single shot rifle. Barrel is 25 1/2 inch tapered, .700 diameter at the muzzle, and .942 at the chamber mouth. Front sight is ramp type, soldered onto the barrel, and the rear of the ramp is 3 5/8 inch from the muzzle, so even if a person cuts and crowns the barrel, there will be plenty of room left for up to 21 inches of barrel. Front sight blade insert is missing, and that is part of the reason we got this rifle to begin with. Surface detractions are moderate, with faint amounts of edge whitening and with faint finish freckling on the blued surfaces. Bolt handle number matches, and this rifle functions flawlessly. All parts are original. Trigger is two stage, pulls at a crisp 2 1/2 pounds in its firing area. This is a fine project rifle.
