Date Code on this Remington Game Master 760’s barrel is poorly stamped; first letter C indicates the Month of May, second digit appears to be an O for 1977 or a Q for 1978, and that is about right for a 6940000 range serial number. This rifle comes to us from the collection of our favorite Midwestern Lawman. It has been hunted, but not fired a great deal. The 760 Game Master, of course is a pump or slide action rifle, that accounts for its widely acknowledged reliability. The mechanism with its free floating 22 inch barrel also accounts for the 760’s accuracy, where it beats its semi auto siblings all to pieces. Sights are traditional steel base classic 700 ramp and blackened brass blade front sight, with an all steel ramp style windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. Construction is steel barrel, steel receiver and internal parts, and semi gloss anodized alloy trigger group housing with push button safety that favors right handed shooters. Buttstock and Forend are original press checkered, DuPont RKW Glossy finish. Buttstock length of pull is a short, professionally altered 13 inches from the trigger face to the end of the Pachmayr 325 Brown Lined Recoil Pad. Buttstock cants about 3/4 inch to the right at the butt, so this rifle will not be comfortable for a southpaw without a stock man working it. Swivel studs are Uncle Mike’s with barrel band stud apparatus on the front. Magazine is internal box style 4 shot steel factory, capacity 4 + 1 rounds of .30-06 Springfield caliber ammunition. Weight empty is just over 7 pounds. Surface detractions on this 760 are moderate, mostly edge whitening on the muzzle and front sight, moderate finish freckling to the metal, mostly on the left side of the receiver. Buttstock and forend have a moderate amount of surface scours, few of which penetrate the finish. We rate this 760 as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 200 rounds in the deer woods of Missouri and Kansas. This is a very attractive, eminently serviceable, and somewhat rare variant of the accurate, tried and true Remington 760. Replacement price on this rifle’s in our area is $700 or more, and we prefer this one to a new one because the only new 7600s have synthetic stocks, not walnut. We're offering this one, however, for only $ 439.00. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $20 flat fee lower 48 states; $60 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, UPS Ground with full insurance coverage.
