From one of our best local West Tennessee collectors comes this attractive specimen of the Lee-Enfield Military Rifle chambered for the .303 British centerfire cartridge. Manufacturer was Savage Arms of Utica, NY. Production Year was 1942, and the rifle is so marked, a continuance of the Lend-Lease program to assist our British Allies. Construction is entirely parkerized military finish steel, with 4 piece combination walnut and hardwood stock system. Barrel is 25 inch 4 Groove, with hood protected blade front sight and folding two position aperture or peep rear sight, with 300 and 800 yard markers. Note that the stock fully covers the barrel. Magazine is 10 shot detachable. This rifle is in its original configuration, but its metal has probably undergone an arsenal refinish at some point. Letters and markings, however, are sharp and clear throughout. Receiver to trigger connector plates are marked with Fed Ord’s import stamp. Connector plate serial number is 7C3000 range, while the bolt handle’s number is 43C prefix. Note that the butt plate is the original brass finish. Sling is correct type, probably World War II issue. Surface detractions are minimal, principally oil penetration to the stock, and one edge mar on the right side above the trigger.. We rate this Lee Enfield as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent / Arsenal Refinish, 85 to 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore and chamber have sharply defined rifling, but with faint amounts of etchy texture in the rifling grooves. We do not detect any pits.
