For sale is an antique Remington 44 caliber New Model Army (sometimes erroneously called the 1858 model) cap and ball revolver This particular revolver was made during the Civil War period, as it has a five digit serial number of 40xxx. This pistol has an amazing amount of original finish remaining -- over 90%. The frame has turned to a plum patina and the other iron is dark blue. The metal is the best of all that I have seen on this type of revolver. The grips are the worst part of this fine antique. They appear to have been sanded years ago and the left grip panel has a crack in it that starts on the inside but does not go through to the outside. The right grip has a very small (about 3mm) chip missing from the bottom front of it. The cylinder has a drag line on it from normal use and the nipples are all in good condition. Put simply, this is the finest old Remington of its type that I have seen and it is up for sale for under the book value. I will think about trades, but I am more interested in cash. I offer a seven (7) day inspection period and aim to please my customers. Please ask any and all questions before purchase so that niether of us has the hassle of a return. Insured shipping is $40 to the lower continental US and actual costs elsewhere. I sell to the US only and accept US Postal money orders or cashier checks only. Now, a word to those who have tried to scam me and other sellers on this website before: Do not try it. I am on to you and your tricks. Two individuals had their accounts suspended on Gunsamerica.com because I reported them and their scams, so give it up.
