Very unusual single shot shotgun by Hyde Shattuck, made in Springfield Mass, before they moved to Hatfield Mass, and became just Shattuck. Top of barrel is stamped: AMERICAN in large letters , serial no. 140, no other markings! Barrel release on this model is a button on the left side, and length of barrel is 30" , choke : IM. Cock internal hammer by pulling back on the rear knob. Functions very good, wood very good, bore is crappy on inside!Very few made, and fewer survuived, a real rare gun from the late 19th century
