Ethan Allen Third Model Sidehammer revolver made 1860ish. .32 RF caliber. Iron frame, octagon barrel, and walnut grips. The blue has developed an eye appealing rust brown patina with some wear showing on parts of the frame including the surface between the hammer arm and the frame, and on the hammer head. Barrel marked crisply on top flat “ETHAN ALLEN & Co.WORCESTER, MASS./ALLENS PATS.SEP 7-NOV. 9 1858-JULY 3 1860”. No date stamp is visible on the frame. The cylinder is the long 1 1/8-inch type with no cylinder scene. The top of the frame factory machined down to concave slope where it meets the barrel. The front sight is a silver blade. With the third model style gradual arch handle. Grips rate very good. The cylinder stop spring is broken.
