A Lorenz conversion pistol with pill fire system lock. An early type of conversion which used fulminate of mercury pills for ignition. Wood stock with brass mounts including grip cap, trigger guard, barrel band, and side plate. The stock rates very good showing a few dings and light scratches and a crisp cartouche on the left side above the trigger. The brass mounts have developed a mustard yellow patina and the barrel band is stamped with what looks to be “L Y”. The top of the tapered barrel in the breech section is stamped with “C II”. Difficult to read numbers are stamped on the left side of the barrel above the brass sideplate. The lockplate forward of the hammer is stamped with the number 854 and stamped with Austrian proof mark back of hammer. The lock and barrel have developed a gray patina with mottling of browns. A rather stout collector’s piece.
