New, never fired, Armisport replica Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifle Musket, .58 Caliber, as produced by various Birmingham manufacturers and exported to both North and South during the Civil War. This "three band" Enfield rifle musket is about 55 inches long overall. The barrel length is 39 inches and rifled .006", with a 1:48 barrel twist to shoot conical bullets. This Enfield has been modified to be more Civil War period correct. The Italian markings have been removed and the serial number placed underneath the barrel. Period correct inspector and proof marks are stamped on the barrel. The incorrect "Enfield" lock plate has been replaced with a "Tower 1861" marked lockplate. The rounded lock screw escutcheons on the stock opposite the lock plate have been replaced with the correct squared lock escutcheons and the lock screws are flat versus the incorrect rounded screws. Metal is finished "bright" as were most Enfields. The incorrect front and rear sling swivels have been replaced with correct swivels. The stock is a very nice walnut with oil finish and marked with the English maker stamp, and is also stamped with a "Birmingham Small Arms Trade" cartouche. Period correct leather sling is included. If you want one that looks like it just came off the boat in 1861, here it is! If you wish to compare this item to the real deal, please see my other listings for an original 1862 dated Enfield...
