Beautiful collectors item, a possible Civil War Contender. On top of the piece it says "Deane &Son King Williams St London Bridge". on the right side of the gun it says "B4826 Adams Patent ? 20502R". on the cylinder it has the number 20502. Everything on the gun is original and works. The original finish as you can see is mostly gone. There is no case or nuts and bolts that come with the case. The revolver is fitted with a John Rigby's Rammer ( British patent no 1976/1854) which together with the bolt safety and spurred hammer dates it no earlier than 1854 but probably around 1860 so it really is a high contender for a Civil War piece. These revolvers were called "automatic" or "self cocking" so did not have a spur on the hammer as they were fired double action. The spur came much later. Most rammers are side mounted on the barrel, the Rigby rammer was never as popular because it interfered with the hand grip. Many of the rammers were retrofits but these revolvers were actually made with a rammer. To a collector this is an interesting variant and would only account for around 10% of the revolvers of that time. I accept cashiers checks and money orders.
