Great original condition militia, or trade musket of the 1774 pattern with a .75 cal 44 3/4" barrel, brass harware possibly for naval useage, and looks like the 1774 Charlesville parttern. Lockplate is more rounded like Frch Charlesville plates but marked WHATELY, which is English contract maker. Lock has been in the gun since day one, with absolute perfect fit! Hammer works well.Under the name is a W in block letters, brass flash pan.. Stock has name engraved behind trigger guard: GREEN, buttplate has a short tang. Right side of butt has No. /66, but could be Ne./66. Oddly with two brass barrel bands, and never having a third band, looks French in configuration.Medal on barrel with a proof of looks like D or, crown over E ! has brown even patina.Stock is complete, and very good condition looks like walnut.Has an iron military style early ramrod. Most likely offered as a trade musket, but even more likely as a Colonies assembled militia musket.
