Description: This 62A is completely restored. I am a professional stock refinisher and have worked in tandem with a Master Gunsmith in completely reworking the steel parts. I don't think I can post my stock refinishing site here, but should you want to see it, you can google "fine gunstock refinishing". The Master Gunsmith is John Sprigg, Bethel, PA. He has no website but does wonderful work.

The action and trigger on this Winny are incredibly tight, obviously having been fired very little. I mean tight! Very nice groups, even with the open "Marble" peep sight system. Marble peeps are rare to find today.

Wood pattern is second to none! It's very rare to see such burl-like grain and red/dark contrast patterning in a Winchester of this era. I've seen only one other of the early .22 Winchester stocks of this sort of beauty.

I've been asked if the stock is original. I certainly believe so, as when I purchased the gun it was in over all "old" condition although it functioned perfectly. The stock was scratched heavily, but in good repair. In fact I have photos of the stock exactly as I received it on the rifle when purchased. Also adding to its originality is a repair/fill-in on the left side of the stock, up near the comb, back toward the heel. It's about 1" long. Let me know if you'd like to see photos of the stock as I received it.

The steel is a rich "pre-64 Winchester" color done professionally by John in the commercial coating GunKote. This is far superior to standard bluing in that it wears like iron but has a patina even to well revealing the barrel inscriptions (like bluing). Very strong and durable.

Butt plate in top shape (shows almost no wear).

2 additional peep apertures included.

I've had this sweetheart displayed in our home for a time, with much adulation from anyone seeing it. Time has come, however, to find a new set of eyes to admire it. :-) Any questions, do give a holler. Thanks.
