The Ladysmith variant came on the scene 20 years ago, and this variant, factory number 162414, preserves the original frosted satin stainless finish while adding improvements of a full lug 2 1/8 inch barrel, small contour laminated combat grips, floating firing pin, MIM metal-injected molded .240 service hammer and .312 smooth combat trigger in case colored finish. Most important, in 1996 the series went from .38 Special to full house .357 Magnum chambering. This variant has the keyed internal lock with two keys. Weight empty is 21.5 ounces; fixed notch rear sight with black blade front sight; capacity 5 rounds; internal transfer bar safety. This is a very simple, very powerful revolver. It is both single and double action; the operator can manually back the hammer and then fire from a light 4 to 5 pound trigger pull, but all training classes that we know of conducts training in double action mode, firing with the trigger only from a resting hammer position.
