Description: Taurus Revolvers began coming into the United States in the late 1960s. Ten Years later, with chronic scarcity and inflated pricing on the original Smith & Wesson revolvers, in this case the Model 15, the Brazilian copies filled an important niche and earned our respect. At some point in the early 1970s, an Atlanta Importer, Spesco Corporation, earned Taurus Import Rights until International Distributors in Miami took it around 1976/1977. Here is a classic early Taurus, with no stamped model designation. It is the ancestor to the Taurus Falcon, later numbered model 82. Manufacturer was Forjas Taurus of Porto Alegre, Brazil, and so marked. Type is 5 screw Smith & Wesson Pre-K frame copy, traditional double and single action revolver. Construction is entirely blue steel, with early style gold and purplish tinted hardened .255 spur hammer and matching serrated face trigger. Barrel is 4 inch medium Pencil type, pinned into the frame, with high serrated blade front sight, and matching windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. Chambering is .38 Special, six round cylinder capacity, and note the early serrated style fluting to the cylinders and the beveled flute edges. Grips are Brazilian Goncalo, Magna service type, with cut checkering and gold plated Spesco Falcon medallions. Weight empty is 31 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. This specimen comes to us from the collection of a local West Tennessee financial officer, probably its exclusive owner. From its 660000 range serial number, we estimate it was manufactured in 1975 or 1976. Surface detractions are minimal, only 3 or 4 tiny whitened scours here and there. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We do not believe this revolver has been fired more than 100 times. Timing and lockup are excellent and correct on all six positions, both single and double action. This early Taurus is not only attractive and serviceable, it is eminently collectable. Replacement pricing on the nearest surviving Smith & Wesson Ancestor, the model 67, is upwards of $700.00. We’re offering this Taurus 82, model 15 descendant, however, for only $ 389.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. Just looking for a shooter? Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
