This Savage model 110 ML-II rifle is unique for its design and quality. This specimen comes to us from its exclusive owner here in West Tennessee, who bought it new in 2003. Manufacturer, of course, was Savage Arms of Westfield, MA. Construction is almost entirely stainless steel on the metal, but with white steel bolt body and with blued steel internal parts. Buttstock is one piece black polymer with checkered surfaces on the forend and pistol grip areas. Barrel is 24 inch 1:24 eight groove rifling, chambered for .50 caliber lead or sabot loads. This rifle is capable for black powder, black powder substitutes, or many slower burning smokeless powders so long as the charges are carefully weighed and stay within recommended specifications. Ignition system uses a 209 size shotgun primer, mounted on a breech face retainer that functions similarly to a shell holder in a press, as the photos show. Breech plug removes for cleaning with a ratchet driven shaft, as shown, and we have a printed instruction manual for this rifle. Trigger is gunsmith adjustable, still set at its original stiff but crisp 5 1/2 pounds. Length of pull on the buttstock measures at 13 1/8 inches from the trigger face; weight empty with scope is 8 pounds 11 ounces, with center of gravity at the barrel collar. Scope is a Simmons 3x9x40 Silver 8 point with Duplex type crosshairs and 1/4 minute click adjustment. Rings are the original silver factory Savage Rings that came with the rifle itself. Surface detractions are minimal, only toning on the left side of the bolt body and a few inconspicuous spots on the steel bolt handle. We rate this Savage as Excellent, 90 to 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, plug and mechanism are all bright and clean, with no pitting whatsoever in the bore or on the plug. Its only owner has always taken exceptionally good care of his guns. We will ship in a hard shell case, and this rifle has all its papers, factory tools, and a never opened factory Savage kit.
