L.C. Smith Field Grade 16ga.- NICE CONDITION
This is a nice Field Grade with lots of case color, unaltered stock, great shooting dimensions, and no cracks behind the locks. Most of these guns were used hard and hence have little left in the way of condition. This gun, sn FW196984, was well cared for and used very little.
The barrels are 28” with factory IC/M chokes (.008/.022), .657 internal bore diameter, minimum barrel wall thickness of 36 thousandths, mirror bores, 2 ¾” chambers, extractors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge like new, no dents, dings, or pits, barrels ring and ribs are tight, 95% original blue, double brass beads, Single Sighting Plane raised rib. THESE BARRELS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE AND HAVE NOT BEEN HONED OR MESSED WITH IN ANY WAY.
The receiver retains 90% vivid case color, excellent screws, double triggers that are crisp and clean, trigger guard retains 90% original niter blue, action is tight with lever right of center, a really nice featherweight Smith.
The wood has not been cut with a length of pull at 14” to the original butt plate, 2 ½” drop at heel, 1 7/16” drop at comb, no splits of chips at lock plates, clear checkering, very good finish on wood, capped pistol grip (tiny chip) and splinter forend. I can add a pad of your choice to lengthen the LOP to your specifications for an added cost of $110 for a Hawkins or NoShoc pad. I also have a great stock man that can bend the stock to your desires if it is not precisely what shoot.
This is a nicely balanced gun that handles like a bird gun should and weighs just 6 1/2lbs. Most of these guns come with F/F chokes and short chambers, which requires additional investments to get the gun where you want it. This Elsie is already set up with the most desirable chokes for upland hunting and sporting clays. BUY IT NOW AND PRACTICE ALL SUMMER FOR THE NEXT BIRD SEASON.
I HAVE A 30 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY ON THIS GUN (and all my guns unless otherwise specified) SO YOU CAN SHOOT IT AFTER THE 3 DAY INSPECTION WITH NO WORRIES ABOUT FUNCTION. This is the only warranty I am aware of on used guns. I have more photos of this gun upon request. Please see my other Vintage Firearms on this website. Just click on the line that says “see all items from this seller” and a great group of double shotguns will appear. Thanks for looking.
