Robert Van Loan enlisted in New York on 11/22/1862 as a private. He fought for the Union in the 168th New York Infantry. But before he left NY he purchased this .32 caliber Smith and Wesson Moore's patent 7 shot revolver. He had his name " Robert Van Loan" engraved on the inside of the back strap. Included in this package is a signed tin type in a small pocket sized frame ( 2 1/4 by 2 3/4 ) Taken of him in 1860.frame. The Moore is best described on page 497 of Flayderman # 8A-094................refer to this if you wish. Basically, the 7 shot cylinder swings out to the right to load the .32 rim fires. It has brass frame and handle. It is done in decorative broad scroll engraving. Also a good portion of the silver plating remains. Whats neat I think is that the Moore itself was manufactured in Brooklyn NY and he enlisted in New York City. We know this because this composite also includes Roberts documentation. His soldiers History, his units assignments ,his name in the units roster ,the regimental experience chart and the regimental history of the 168th NY. A real nice find for the right collector. Oh yes, as a final perk also I include a copy of his death certificate. This document shows his date of filing for invalid status on 2/25/1908, Shows his application # and his certification #. Finally it states his date of passing as 2/9/1915.in Dahlia N.Y. The package includes the ID'ed revolver, the Id'ed picture and all the before mentions documentation. Shipping and handling is included in the price within the continental United States. I will ship same day as I receive your payment. And of course you have the traditional 3 day inspection period. I am not happy until you are.......
