Thompson Center’s history of firearms innovation has increased during its partnership with Smith & Wesson. Here is its Venture Bolt Action rifle. Manufacturer is Thompson / Center Arms of Rochester, NH. Type is Center Fire Bolt Action Rifle. Construction is all steel metal anchored in a distinctively contoured synthetic stock. Barrel is floating 24 inch, chambered in .30-06 Springfield caliber with 5 groove right hand twist 1:10 rifling. Action is Right Hand Shooter Long Action. Bolt is three piece with three lug face area and 60 degree bolt handle. Sight system will be a scope, and the included Weaver type scope mounts will serve well, with numerous rail and Redfield type systems available throughout the country. Magazine is detachable 3 round, so 3+1 fully loaded capacity. Safety is 700 style, mounted beside the bolt. Trigger is .200 serrated face adjustable, and this one pulled at 4 pounds with moderate felt creep. Stock is graphite based polymer, with gray rubber laterals, and 13.25 inches length of pull from the trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch recoil pad. Overall full length is 44 1/4 inches, and weight empty is 7 pounds, with center of gravity at the breech face or stock bolt. This specimen is what we call a factory demo. It served as a showgirl for Thompson/Center’s sales force and writers. It is in its original box with protective inserts. Surface detractions are minimal, only two tiny mars on the left side of the barrel, faint bolt body operation wear, and two or three streaks on the right side of the stock. We rate it as Excellent in box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. We hope all our shoppers know the difference between left hand and right hand bolt action rifles. Bore and mechanism are bright and clean; we do not believe it was fired more than 50 times.
