Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum, 357 mag cal., 4” barrel, serial #596XX, reg # 5112. This is the most sought after S&W produced. Unfortunately this one has been modified. It has with it the factory letter from Roy Jinks, S&W Historian. Smith doesn’t charge much for these letters, but I don’t think Roy digs as deep as he used to. (I have scanned the letter in for you to read.) This gun was shipped to the Kansas City, MO police department in 1935. It is one of a block of 250 they received. There were no registration letters issued for these guns.

There is a star stamp on the butt and 2 date stamps on the left side of the grip frame, “8.50” & “4.45”, indicating S&W performed factory work on it in August of 1945 and April of 1950). It has been refinished in an OD green tinted Teflon. The front sight and hammer have been modified. The letter doesn’t give any information on what was done during the two trips it made back to the factory, but judging by how well the checkering matches between the hammer, the original top strap and the area that would have been under the original front sight ramp, I would guess it was modified in the factory.

Please log in and click on all of my photos twice to bring them up in a new tab/window and view them full size for maximum detail. I take high detail photos to give you a better idea of what I have to offer. I used white chalk to enhance the stamping in some photos.

We are a family operated, store front, operation located in North Fort Myers, Florida, in business since 1991. (That means FL residents pay 6% Sales Tax...sorry.)

3 day inspection period. Returns must be shipped by your receiving FFL dealer. Buyer is responsible for all shipping.
