Here is a well maintained veteran of the Deer Woods of Madison and Chester Counties in West Tennessee, an FN manufactured classic Browning B.A.R. Auto chambered in .30-06 Springfield. It is thoroughly Belgian; made in Belgium and assembled in Belgium. It has never been to Portugal. Surface detractions are moderate, principally dimming and scouring to the European Walnut buttstock and forend. Note the series of rack marks on the forend edges next to the barrel channel. Metal wear is minimal, principally some freckling to the receiver with faint amounts of edge whitening to the barrel. We rate this rifle as Very Good finishwise, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, however, ought to suffice so that our distinguished shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Note that the bolt still has some of its original factory grease showing around its edges. We got the rifle from its original and exclusive owner, who bought it new from us during President Nixon’s final days in office. It has been fired fewer than 200 rounds. Specs are gas operated semi-automatic rifle; manufactured by Fabrique Nationale in Herstal Belgium, and imported by Browning Arms in Arnold, MO; 22 inch barrel with early FN folding steel adjustable sights; drilled for scope mounting as the BARs always have been; cut checkered walnut buttstock and forend; 13 7/8 inches length of pull from the trigger face to the end of the buttplate; weight empty 7 pounds 10 ounces; capacity 4+1 rounds of any .30-06 caliber ammunition. Scope is the original one to grace this rifle, an early 1970s, Japan Made Bushnell Banner, not a 3x9 variable, but a 3 to 8 power variable with 32mm objective lens and two screw steel top Weaver Rings. Scope has a fine crosshair, since it was manufactured before the reign of the Duplex. We will offer the scope separately.
