Description: We remember when Century Arms retrieved a good many of the 25,000 original specimens twenty years ago. Here is one of them. From the collection of our favorite Bootheel Missouri Hunter and Fisherman comes this worthy specimen of the Smith & Wesson .45 Hand Ejector US Army model of 1917, often referred to by its barrel marking S. & W. D.A. 45. From its 1696xx serial number it was among the very first revolvers shipped to the Brazilian Government to bolster Dictator Getulio Vargas. Its number overlaps the US Army’s final 169959 unit. This revolver’s frame, then, quite possibly was actually manufactured in 1919. As far as Specs, type is traditional double and single action revolver, .44 or Pre-N Frame, 5 screw type construction. Manufacturer was Depression Era Smith & Wesson in Springfield MA. Construction is entirely steel, with original diamond pattern cut checkered factory grips and lanyard ring. Barrel is 5 1/2 inch pinned blue steel with integral forged half moon front sight and classic hand ejector fixed notch rear sight. Trigger is serrated face .255 service size, with .240 hump style spurred hammer. Weight empty is 35 3/4 ounces. Caliber is .45 Auto Rim or .45 ACP with moon clips. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive. This revolver shows substantial original bluing remaining, but with a good bit of gray and brown toning on its surfaces. We estimate that no more than 15 percent of the surface has etchy browning. We rate this revolver as Good, 60 to 70 percent vicinity. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. We classify it as Good mechanically. Bore is bright, clean, and excellent with no pitting and sharp rifling qualities. Cylinder chambers show faint amounts of etchy texture forward of the shoulder section in each chamber. Cylinder times and rotates correctly on all six positions in Single Action, so long as the operator uses a normal brisk cocking motion. Hammer stands very well in all six positions on single action. Cylinder fails to time with a slow single action cock. Cylinder binds on one position on double action. Lateral play is moderate, no more than 2mm by our estimate. This is a solid, attractive and collectable piece. We’re offering it for only $ 739.00. Not transferable to non dealer civilians in Massachusetts. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $15 handguns lower 48; $40 handguns Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
