This Special Export Order Colt 1911 is incredibly difficult to obtain. As an advanced Colt Collector, I searched for this pistol for over 15 years. Recently, and to my surprise, I was able to buy 2 of them. I am willing to sell one of the two. Historically, Colt would accept special orders from some Foreign Countries. The minimum production run was 500 units. A notable Firearms Distributor in Italy, special ordered this special run of 1911 Government Model Colts in 9mm Steyr, a caliber favored in Europe. Of the 500 Colt 9mm Steyr Government Models produced, 400 were immediately shipped to Italy. 100 of the Colts were retained by Colt for possible warranty purposes, and for intermittent release in the US. Very occasionally one will surface for sale. These were the first ones I had seen since 2008. They are highly prized by the Colt 1911 "Caliber" Collector. You may never see another one for sale.
