Charter made an attempt at a Pug .357 Bulldog in the early 1980s. At that time, handgun metallurgy was simply not advanced enough. Here is the current, successful, well-tested descendant of those early efforts, the Charter Arms Mag Pug with 2.2 inch six-port all steel barrel. Main frame and cylinder are satin finished stainless; and the grip frame is high strength lightweight alloy. Capacity is five rounds of .38 Special or .357 Magnum cartridges. Action is full time double action with factory bobbed hammer. Charters have always had internal transfer bar safeties. Grips are combat finger grooved neoprene. Weight empty is 23 ounces.
