This gun had been customized back in early '80s for my use in some recreation steel plate shooting where I lived in Fallbrook, CA same as where Mr. Swenson lived and worked.
If you will Google his name, you will see some sites that detail the typical work he did in accurizing the Colt.
Some of the modifications he did were:
Bar-Sto Barrel & bushing
Enlarged ejection port
Ambidextrous safety
S&W K frame rear sight
Reworked ramped front sight
Reworked feed ramp
I don't recall all of what he did in addition, but he had been instructed to rework whatever was necessary to accurize and make it reliable it for defense like he did for his military and government clients.
Unfortunately, I do not have any documentation from him regarding the work I did as it has long been lost in multiple movings. That is why I'm allowing returns if you are not satisfied that it is his work.
Recently, I replaced the grips with a new set of Pachmyer grips. Also included are 8 clips, 3 of which are stainless steel. Two out of the three s.s. ones are 10 round clips. The other 5 are standard clips.
The gun had been carried mainly for personal defense back in the '80s until I changed over to a smaller Walther PPKS which was better suited my small build and easier to conceal.
It probably has had around 2,000 rounds [plus or minus] put through it of mixed handloads and FMJ target rounds.
The bluing has some minor scuffing mostly from the shoulder holster I used. Otherwise it is in decent condition for its age. I've had many compliments from other shooters when I've let them pop off a couple of rounds at the range.
I had never intended on selling it, but now I have developed hand tremors and the last time I went to the range, I was unable to hold it on target. So it's time now to let it go to someone who will get some enjoyment out of it.
This is a fine self-defense weapon hand-crafted by a master gunsmith for reliable everyday use and should give you years of shooting pleasure.
I'm sorry, but I will be unable to accept any trades for this Colt. Any reasonable offers will be considered.
Thank you!
