This GI barrel is "New, Old Stock", never having been mounted on any gun.

Date stamped S-A-2-52 which means Springfield Armory February 1952.

Parkerized finish, 1 in 10 twist, 4 groove... well if you're interested in this you already know the specs. Have a look at the detail photos; it's a real find.

TE reads 2.5 on a USGI breechbore gage (# C64343 actually designed to measure taper but it's what's generally used; to the best of my knowledge there is no dedicated TE gage)

ME is approx .2997 based on the .2995 plug gage being snug and the .3000 not going in at all.

The 5th photo in the series here shows clearly that there's no pressure bulge, which would be there if it'd ever been attached.
