The Army quickly learned the 38 caliber was not the man stopper that the 45 Colt had been for years. The 1873 Colt was called back into action and the old Colts were reworked and reissued. This 1873 Model Colt is one of those reworked revolvers that served the U.S. Army in the 1870s, 1880s, 1890s, and the early 1900s. This Colt is a rare find that has not been altered since it's military service. The revolver retains a great deal of the original blueing and shows some color case harding on the hammer. The serial numbers are mixed and all parts show inspectors marks that are correct for the serial numbers. The action is very tight and the function is flawless.
