Description: Date code on this Economy variant of the workhorse 1100 Remington, the Sportsman 12 auto, is R E, manufactured in November of 1985. This model stayed in production for only two Years, 1985 and 1986. The slide action counterpart Sportsman 12 went on to become the majority selling Remington 870 Express, but the Sportsman 12 auto was not as well received. For one thing, it was priced in the high $200 range, and there were still plenty of the better-looking, lighter made Smith & Wesson 1000 shotguns still floating in that price range. In fact, we do not believe this one ever sold at all until recently when one of our favorite Oklahoma traders scoured it up from a gun shop in the OKC vicinity. Its only surface detractions come from shelfwear. Wood a small ding on the bottom of the buttstock's pistol grip, a 2 inch shallow scratch on the lower right rear area of the buttstock, and a small thin scratch on the bottom of the forend. None of these are conspicuous, and the metal is almost perfect. We see one small weak spot in the bluing on the left upper side of the barrel next to the rib, probably from store gun rack contact, and we have a closeup photo of that area. Metal is otherwise perfect. There is no streaking on the shell carrier / floorplate, no carbon on the magazine tube, and no residue in the bore. Barrel is 2 3/4 inch chamber, 28 inch Modified Vent Rib with the customary dead .700 muzzle constriction that 1100s almost always had. Weight empty is the customary 8 pounds, and the tube holds a total of 4 shells, 2 as it is since it has its original green plug with the conventional old style magazine spring retainer. We believe this shotgun is unfired. It was only manufactured in 1985 and 1986, but it is a fully traditional configuration of the classic 1100, only with walnut stained hardwood stock and forend instead of the usual walnut. Replacement pricing on the nearest similar descendant to this gun, one of the Express Grade 11-87s, is over $600 in our area; and many folk are not looking for a waterfowl and turkey gun, so this one will serve as well in the dove fields and rabbit thickets as anything. We're offering it for only $ 339.95

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
