An unusual, possibly unique, example of a model that was never made in flintlock, but only converted to flintlock for later trade to countries where percussion ignition proved impractical. Marked 857 on lock for 1857, marked BELGIUM and ELG proofed on barrel. Metal parts have excellent original blue finish on barrel, other parts have a rust patina. Stock shows little wear with minor handling marks, a small chip by the sling swivel screw and a small chip by the barrel tang.
