This Hi-Power was created in 1994 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the WWII Allied D-Day landing at Normandy. The serial number is 245DDAY001 and the trigger guard is marked "1 of 1". This pistol is elaborately factory engraved and signed by Edouard Vos. It features various D-Day scenes including images of paratroopers, gliders, Higgins boats, German pillboxes, ships at sea, etc. The top of the slide is engraved and gold inlaid with the likeness of Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander above which are the flags of the various nations that participated in the landing. The pistol is fitted with the 500-meter tangent rear sight and ambidextrous safeties. The pistol is silver plated and all small parts are gold plated. The grips are fancy walnut with special hand engraved medallions. Condition is new, never fired and the pistol shows no wear. It comes in a specially fitted case with two engraved 13-round silver magazines, gold plated tools, certificate of authenticity, manual, etc. This pistol served as the model/prototype for the limited production D-Day commemorative pistols (of which there were 150 made).
