Westley Richards & Co. 1867 Monkey Tail Percussion is a Whitworth Patent, S/N: P4343, mfg. 1867. Breechloader w/ “Monkey Tail” lift lever in the position of the top tang. Cartridge is a .45 Whitworth Tube (3 9/16-inches long, 530 grain cylindrical bullet, 70 grains of powder). 31” BBL, bore is VG, no pitting. Side lock - percussion, EX condition, both action & lock. Front sight rectangular base w/ inverted V-blade, rear military sliding elevator sight w/ graduation from 5-10. Checkered steel trigger w/ brass trigger guard. Full stock, steel nose cap, bayonet lug, has proper tulip-shaped ramrod. L.O.P. 13 7.8” over brass butt plate. Barrel & action are a smooth brown patina. Stock is black (under the hot photography lights, it released odor of tar paint/stain.)
