In 2004, Smith Enterprises rebuilt 110 M-14s (Crazy Horse®) for the US Army 2nd Infantry Division’s Squad Designated Marksman (SDR) program prior to 2ID’s deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Two rifles, consecutively numbered, were built on SEI receivers in a civilian semi-auto format as part of the one-time, limited production run in fulfillment of the government contract, which will never be repeated. • Smith Enterprise Receiver, early 90s production. • Rifle properly marked on the receiver: "U.S, ARMY 2nd INF.DIV., CRAZY HORSE, SMITH ENT. AZ." • Gas lock front sight properly marked "2ID, O.I.F." • Sling properly marked "CRAZY HORSE, SMITH ENT., M14, M-118 LR." • Rifle comes with the same Leupold Mk4 3.5 - 10 X 40 scope fitted with M3 turrets and illuminated mil dot reticule as specified in the military contract. • The rifle is an exact replica of the 2ID rifles with the exception of the select fire provisions (see here and here.).
