Early Nazi Navy reworks are scarce according to Jan Still. this one originally started off as an Imperial German Army Luger made by Erfurt. in the early 1930s the Simson Coo. reworked and reissued it to the Navy. Simson replaced the barrel and reciever with new parts that they manufactured.they manufactured the new parts to match the serial number and struck proper proof marks[eagle over o] for use in the Baltic Sea.property markings were also applied to the front strap. the finish suffered as these guns were exposed to salt water very few of these original guns exist as most of them went to the bottom of the ocean.all of the serial numbers match except for magazine, the grips are unnumbered.there is one bogus serial number marked on the top of the breech block. the location is incorrect and of the wrong font. for more info, see Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers, Jan Still, pg 206, picture pg 229 of similiar gun. please ad 3% for credit card purchases
