Description: Unique -- Custom Designed & Built from 100% Authentic Enfield Components.
While there was never an official government contract (UK or Commonwealth) authorizing a Bulldog Tanker, Enfield did test and design shorter barreled versions, eventually emerging as the No. 5 Jungle Carbine.

However, if Enfield had created the ideal “Tanker-Tough” carbine, to what standards should it be built? (think of your Pickup Truck, Jeep, or ATV as the your modern “tanker”)

The answer to this question is this custom-built Bull-Dog Tanker Carbine.

Receiver & Barrel: The No.4 Mk II -- was the very best of the seventy years of evolution. The receiver was solid and harder. The barrel at the muzzle of the No.4 is .16” thick compared to only .09” think for its No.1 WWI predecessor. The trigger of the No.4 MkII is mounted on the receiver itself. Brian Dick, probably the most knowledgeable Enfield gunsmith in America did the final work on the receiver and barrel, ensuring the barrel and receiver met FTR Standards (Factory Through Repair – British standard of refurbishing that brings a gun up to 100% working condition, with at least 80% of its service life remaining.). Shiny Barrel 2 groove barrel has thousands of rounds of beef left in her. Parkerized action, barrel, and magazine.

Bolt Action: Bolt action is simply more reliable than a semi-automatic. The 10 round magazine capacity makes this a formidable gun.

Reliability: The Enfield distinguished itself as the most trustworthy weapon the allies had – whether in the muddy trenches, steamy jungles or frigid Arctic. The WWI versions of this rifle, which are now 100 years old are still used by Afghan snipers with accuracy up to 900 yards.

Stock: Tanker Tough means the stock needs to be rock solid. Walnut is hard enough to resist dinging to be Tanker Tough. This Bulldog Carbine has walnut butt stock and walnut handguards – all from new-old-stock. The rear handguard is grooved to make it easy to handle and hold on a hot, humid day. The fore-end is full-length – no splices – hand carved inletting for the WWI nose guard. Since new-old-stock fore-ends are difficult to find, a good No.4 Mark I fore-end was selected, with through-bolting.

Nose Protection: One of the most delicate parts of the gun is the muzzle/crown. It needs protection in your “tank” or trunk because the muzzle and crown can get whacked so readily. Thus the Bull-Dog nose of the World War I No.1 MkIII was selected – it provides the best muzzle and sight protection of virtually any gun ever built. The bayonet stud on the Bull-Dog nose not only protects the muzzle crown, but is also designed to attach a WWI bayonet – reproductions easily purchased for about $70 if you are worried about being attacked by a wild wart hog or need extra defense against a mountain lion.

Rear Sight: Unlike the WWI No.1 Mark III, (where the rear sight was inconveniently mounted amidships on the barrel) the No.4 rear sight is mounted at the aft end of the receiver, closest to the eye, where it provides the best sight radius. A Tanker Carbine should have 300 yard (max) accuracy from the simple battle sight -- sufficient for practical use – and nearly impervious to damage.

Scope: You can add a scope for the 150-250 yard shot at a deer with the Quick-Connect Weaver mount (included in the sale).

Front Sight: The front sight is a Lyman white dot phosphorescent with narrow blade to provide better targeting on cloudy days and at dusk.

Barrel Bands & Sling Mounts: Tanker-Tough has has a beefy barrel band (originally used for the stacking swivel) instead of the standard barrel band. Aesthetically, the more robust barrel band is appropriate with the Bull-Dog nose. Comes with leather sling without a lot of hooks to catch on things.
