Eric Holder Racist Anti-Gun Rant Victimizes Minorities – Editorial

Current Events

Isn’t it time to detach the 2nd Amendment from politics? Having the freedom to defend yourself is a fundamental right. Don’t we all agree on that? Who wants to see innocent law abiding Americans live life in fear of crime because the government has taken away their fundamental right to defend themselves? The political climate is perfect right now for politicians to stand up for 2nd Amendment rights for all Americans. Nobody is buying the anti-gun spin and lies anymore. It is time for a real change.

You may have heard news about a new video that has surfaced of Attorney General Eric Holder plotting to change the way people think about guns. Most of the gun news website have been buzzing about it this week, but so far I have yet to find anyone who doesn’t totally miss the point. It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Eric Holder is part of the liberal anti-2nd Amendment machine, and that he is just one more of President Obama’s appointees that are completely out of touch with mainstream America. If you actually watch the video though. It will show you how black leaders have become racist, and that black leaders like Eric Holder just plain old don’t trust law abiding black people with guns. Black leaders have created a subculture of disarming victims in the black community, and this has got to stop.

You will have to sit through a brief commercial in order to view this 1995 video from Breitbart, but it is well worth it. Holder is clearly pandering to a black audience in the video. He claims to occasionally watch “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Martin,” both TV shows with a black main character. Then he goes on to say that he reached out to Jesse Jackson and Mayor Barry, both strongly recognized black leaders, to help him with his campaign. He wants to “brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way” and claims that he will be reaching out to entertainers, athletes, and even school boards to spread his anti-gun message.

He doesn’t of course mention that both Will Smith, from the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and Martin Lawrence, from “Martin,” have been in numerous movies pointing guns at other human beings. Thankfully both have for the most part played “good guys,” and even starred in two movies together as Miami police officers, but gun violence is gun violence, and all of Hollywood has profited from promoting it. The Hollywood hypocrisy with gun violence is only a shadow of the overall coupling of liberal politics to anti-gun policies. Throughout history, disarming the victim has always led to more crime, more victims, and even full-fledged genocide. More guns equals less crime and an insurance policy on freedom. All American should support the spread of law abiding gun ownership.

This is a video called No Guns for Negroes that you can watch on the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) website, as well as download it directly to your computer. It covers this topic extensively and you will understand just how deep this problem runs, and what are its origins.

I don’t know if politicians like Eric Holder understand the difference between a criminal and a law abiding citizen. They don’t seem to, that’s for sure. Black people, like all other divisions you can make based on race, are for the most part, law abiding Americans. They are protected by the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution like all other Americans, and that in Article 2 of that document, all law abiding Americans have a right to keep and bear arms. The 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting. It isn’t about target shooting. It isn’t about enjoying a hobby. It is about being able to protect yourself and defend your life and the lives of your loved ones. No matter what the race of a population, the good guys outnumber the bad guys. Disarming the good guys makes the bad guys more powerful. Doesn’t Eric Holder understand that this was the intent of the 2nd Amendment? Guns are not like cigarettes as it claims in the video. Guns protect and defend lives every day, far more than they cause harm, and the message about gun violence should be one about criminal violence, not about guns.

Granted, the Heller and McDonald decisions from the US Supreme Court had not been handed down in 1995, so he may have mistakenly believed that the 2nd Amendment didn’t apply to individuals, but I didn’t see him come out this week with any conciliatory statements that he was mistaken in 1995. He apparently still believes the things he said in the video. And he apparently thinks that “brainwashing” law abiding citizens to forget that they have a right to protect themselves is something that children should be taught in school every day. Don’t law abiding black people have a right to shoot back, or even to shoot first, when someone points a gun at them in anger? The rest of America does. Are politics that important to people like Eric Holder that he can’t see it is time to change the message?

If you can put media and politics aside for a minute, and just think about the current state of those people in the cities that Holder is speaking to in the video, is there any reason to not change the message twelve years later in 2012? If you go by the numbers from the Brady Campaign website (the most violently anti-gun organization in the country), almost all black homicides are committed with a gun. If we assume that nearly all of these are not justified legal shootings, extrapolate this to mean that nearly all black homicides are committed by a criminal with a gun. Why disarm the victims Mr. Holder? Isn’t it enough already? Do black leaders really believe that inner city black voters are still believing this shtick? Or is it about campaign dollars?

Eric Holder Racist Anti-Gun Rant Victimizes Minorities - Editorial

The defining book on gun violence is More Guns Less Crime by John Lott. The Brady Campaign is afraid to meet this guy in an open debate because they make up their numbers and Lott uses actual government statistics. It is a dry but very compelling book.

The pro-gun, 2nd Amendment community has been up in arms about this video mostly because of Eric Holder’s suspected involvement in “Operation Fast & Furious. ” They see it as some kind of proof that he was out to get us all along, as if there was any doubt of a secret anti-gun agenda in the Obama administration after the President himself said that they had things working behind the scenes. I don’t see this Eric Holder speech like that. This was a political stump speech to a biased audience and he pandered to them with what they expected. The people who should be furious are the people he was speaking to, the people trapped in the inner cities who have been completely disarmed.

Anti-gun “brainwashing” has created a situation where the people most effected by criminals with guns have been the disarmed the most. Inner cities and just about every urban area of the country have “tougher” gun laws, but the real question is “tough on who?” The gun laws are tough on victims, not criminals. Criminals will always have a way to get acquire means to threaten and hurt people. It is what they do, and with all the millions of guns in America and our porous borders, even if a gun could not legally be sold in America ever again, the bad guys would have access to guns indefinitely, while the victims would be slowly disarmed. Brainwashing law abiding Americans, of any color, to give up their 2nd Amendment right is just creating more victims.
It is time for a change Mr. Holder. The current political climate is very much pro-gun and pro-2nd Amendment. Gun sales are at record levels, and it looks like we are on our way back into an ammo shortage. This would be the perfect time, politically, for politicians on both sides of the isle to step up and detach the 2nd Amendment from political agendas. We are all Americans. We all deserve the opportunity to protect our own lives and the lives of our loved ones, as well as the opportunity to hunt, target shoot and enjoy firearms without fear of breaking ridiculous laws that only create more victims.

Regardless of race, color, creed, religion and everything else, most of us are capable of being law abiding and responsible gun owners. Even the craftiest politician who licks his finger and sticks it in the air to see which way the wind is blowing should know that in today’s climate, the smartest decision you can make politically is to support the 2nd Amendment and gun freedom. It is time to stop disarming people in the inner cities and leaving them helpless against crime and gun violence. Arm the victims and they will no longer be victims. This administration ran on a platform of “change.” We can stop senseless gun violence in our inner cities. It is just going to take a real change.

I am very pro-gun, however, I did not hear Holder say anything about changing laws or anything about the 2nd amendment. I heard him talk about influence and changing perception. I have no problem with that at all. The NRA and various groups shape their side of the debate, so should Eric Holder etc.

People need to think critically about issues and not swallow the fake “left vs. right” paradigm hook, line, and sinker. When Holder starts talking about doing away with the 2nd Amendment or another AWB, call me. Otherwise this is a non-issue and fake news.

to everyone, just remember what Bill (Slick Willie) Clinton said concerning the NRA in elections several years ago – he stated the NRA and its membership are the most well organized,STONGEST,AND informed voting block in this country-we must give the NRA our undying attention and support, they deserve it-MAKE AN EFFORT TO SIGN AS MANY MEMBERS AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE NOVEMBER ELECTIONS–VOTE,VOTE VOTE, we have done it before and will do it again!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe we should do like eric holder send all the guns to mexico. OR we could send all the illegal immigrant bad guys back to mexico

The inicednet in Florida with Geroge Zimmerman is getting out of hand. Now they want to take way the Stand Your Ground Law ! Guns don’t kill people… people kill people. Now the Feds want to make a move toward anti-gun laws.

  • Jack Bachman April 7, 2012, 5:43 pm

Florida has always been a great pro gun state but unfortunately we now have a situation here that the anti gun tangent is jumping all over it as a racist issue.

  • Jim April 6, 2012, 5:29 pm

Vote these people out of office this fall. They are tearing this country apart. If we don’t kick them out, the next four years will be bad — really bad. Seriously — they’ve got to go.

Despite the fact that this video is 17 years old, I am still trying to figure out what is wrong with trying to do something, anything, to break down the attitude among inner-city “youths” that obtaining and carrying an illegal gun is in any way cool or somehow makes you a real man.

This is what former prosecutor Holder was speaking to. He was not talking about disarming ANY LAW ABIDING ADULT, but rather changing the attitudes of black teens who, once they have a loaded gun in their immature hands are more likely to shoot themselves or someone else – permanently ruining multiple lives.

President Obama, to the horror of half his political “base”, has refused to entertain any talk of new gun restrictions, ammo taxes, or other anti 2nd Amendment measures; terming 2nd Amendment rights “settled law” and “no longer a subject up for debate”. Like him or hate him, Obama is no threat to our gun rights – regardless what those who make up their own “facts” would like to believe…

In RECENT comments, AG Holder has not shown any desire whatsoever to restrict gun ownership except to criminals, illegal aliens, and CHILDREN; and has deported nearly 2.5 million illegal, criminal, aliens – 6000 rounded up last week. Bush deported less than 250,000 in 8 years.

As a lifelong gun owner, and Republican, I have been pleasantly surprised by these FACTS,

IT IS A SHAME HOLDER’S PARENTS FAILED IN THAT RESPECT. KIDS SURELY DON’T LEARN OF THE WONDERS OF THIS COUNTRY AND THE CONSTANT STRUGGLES TO CORRECT IT’S PROBLEMS IN SCHOOL. DO AWAY WITH HOLDER AND DO AWAY WITH THE NEA.

when will the government see that every gun law they make makes it even easier to get a gun illegally because of the criminal mindset. and no anti gun law in the history of our country has ever prevented a crime
the best way for crime prevention is for the average citizen to learn to use a gun and protect themselves
if the average criminal knew that 90% of the houses they may want to invade or that that percentage will be armed in a dark allyway then they are less likely to attack or rob that person. this is an absolute proven fact of life as our country was so armed in the 1880s when everyone from women to children was armed through out the country
and crime of almost all kinds were minimal. also the reason that noone outside our borders threatened us back then like they do now is that they could have considered that out nation as a whole was our standing military with nearly all citizens armed and prepared to defend ourselves

this is how our nation should be today

in the average town outside of texas where its still commonplace, the average person who may carry a firearm is automatically looked at with fearful eyes due to the liberal anti gun speil about guns being dangerous.
    let me tell u something
i have been trained in martial arts and i can say that EVERY object is lethal from a pencil to a stapler
its the person holding the object that makes it dangerous not the object itself
do u ban steak knives because someone kills with one? no u punish the person using it the knife is not responsible for what it was used for\
same with a gun its intent is nill as its an inatimate object with no mind or soul
a gun is no more responsible for any bad thing than any object is
the person behind it is the issue
and when a gun law prohibits legal ownership then criminals have the means to use the gun to commit their ill will against the innocent

and in my opinion any anti gun law anywhere in the USA is a direct violation of the second amendment

  • Bob April 3, 2012, 10:07 am

I too am in agreement with the author. I suggest educating the law makers with the truth. If we want to maintain our 2nd Amendment rights, we need to vote anti gun rights legislatures out of office, the American way. Here’s my recommendation for criminals who use guns to commit felonies. To begin with cut off their trigger fingers and see how many will commit another crime. I hate to admit, its a radical thought, but think about it.

I’m tired of people referring to President Obama, Eric Holder and other Socialist Democrats as being out of touch with Americans. Face the facts, they know exactly what they’re doing. These out of touch individuals are today’s cutting edge representatives of the American Socialist Movement. They’re the best of the best. Except for a couple of rearrangements. What we’re seeing today is a textbook example of how to destroy capitalism and replace it with Socialism. Take a couple of hours and look back in history. Back to writings of trotsky, Lenin, and Hitler. This President has to create as closely as possible. The same conditions that existed during Germany’s post WWI era. Not one dictator could have topled a nation that had full or low unemployment. Every action he has taken. Has been directed at destroying what’s left of our independantly owned large and small business sector. Every job he’s created has been a government job. He’s purposely spending and borrowing in an attempt to force our lenders to refuse to lend us more. He’s taken over just about every part of our economy. Healthcare, banking, General motors, education loans, energy. A Socialist government does not have to send troops into a corporation in order to take it over. All it has to do is continue regulating and regulating it. So before long, it owns it. Thanks to President Obama, we’re drowning in regulations. Regulations designed to cause an economic colapse of our once great nation.

  • Bob April 2, 2012, 10:53 pm

I’m a gun owner with more guns than most gun stores, guns don’t hurt people, people hurt people whether they black or white educate kids on guns, this is one of the reason why I pay taxes. Lets stick to this issue the 2nd amendment has been around for a long time and, It will take more than the Obama administration to change it.

    • hmmmmm April 3, 2012, 1:24 pm

You might note that despite the spin, O has NOT changed the gun laws, and in fact loosened some. But this is not the site for such spin from either side, let’s stay with guns and related, as way to many appear to be in fringe of sanity for comfort of most of us.

      • Administrator April 3, 2012, 1:34 pm

And what exactly did he loosen?

  • Alan G April 2, 2012, 10:40 pm

Maybe Holder should focus more time and effort on doing his job and working on his image because it’s not reputable and he isn’t doing his job. His department single handedly let more guns go to criminals and kill a border agent than any gang. More liberal hot air with the same funky smell as the hot air they blow from the stern. This hopefully is his last year and off to the unemployment line he can go.

  • Bonzer Wolf April 2, 2012, 8:44 pm

There is no “defense” for Eric Holder who is in favor of total gun confiscation not gun control. This is exactly what happened in Great Britain when Progressives banned all handguns and made it extremely difficult and expensive to own hunting rifles/shotguns. To this day it is illegal to use a firearm for self defense under any circumstances, including armed home invasions, in both Great Britain and Canada. Operation Fast And Furious was an illegal tool approved by Holder to further gun the control propaganda of the current Progressive administration.

  • walter matlock April 2, 2012, 6:59 pm

holder, you shouldn’t worry about the 2nd amendment or firearms activists. Because, hopefully, you will be forced out of office prematurely, and hopefully prosecuted for treason for supplying weapons to the mexican banditos smuggling drugs into our great country of America, (which you obviously are out of touch with)…

  • New Gun Lover April 2, 2012, 4:17 pm

I’m new to the gun community. Though new to the actual ownership and shooting of guns, I have always been a supporter of the expansion of the 2nd amendment to adopt to modern times (meaning I’m not a strict constructionalist and I think that the 2nd amendment should not be viewed in terms of simply maintaining a militia). With that, I have a coupe of problems with this blog post. First I don’t see how there is a racist element to the speech by Holder. In fact I don’t see how anyone could have a problem with the speech. Changing the way people view guns in a lot of ways is a good thing, particularly for young people. Gun violence is glorified in popular culture. That is a bad thing and it is anathema to responsible gun ownership. Movies like scarface, bad boys, terminator even, normalize gun violence and minimize the significance of the personal responsibility and accountability that comes along with law abiding responsible gun ownership. Proper education both of the community and society at large is much better way to fight against government restrictions on firearms. It may be responsible for us to educate our children on how to properly handle a firearm and teach them to respect the responsibility therein, but it is probably equally responsible to not glorify the violence that comes along with it. To teach them that discharging a weapon is always a last resort, not a first option. Guns probably shouldn’t be looked at as “cool” or hip or whatever, but should be treated with the respect they deserve. That is what I took him to be saying, and I really don’t see how that is disagreeable.

Secondly, I have a problem with the rhetoric not matching reality. Say what you will about the Obama administration, but rights for gun owners have actually expanded over the last 3 years, not diminished. We are able to carry guns into more places and while there have been public relations campaigns brought on by and large by private parties (that get on board with bradley and such, much in response to people getting shot in public my people that I think we all agree should not have been allowed to own guns to begin with (or maybe we don’t agree, I think that bonnafied crazy people shouldn’t be allowed to own guns or really operate any form of potentially dangerous machinery)), it isn’t really a thing that has been brought up much by the Obama administration.

And third, I think that we need to put in perspective this dire need to protect ourselves from criminals with hand guns. I would really like to see some numbers on this if there are any kind of credible reports, but it seems to me that you rarely hear about someone shooting an intruder to their home and defending their family. But you often hear about gun violence in the streets, and people being shot by misidentification. there are far more accidents and unintendeds related to guns than protective elements. So, again, why wouldn’t better education on the issue be a good start. why wouldn’t changing the culture of how we interact with guns be a good thing? Particularly if that leads to people not messing with the 2nd amendment.

  • C McDowell April 2, 2012, 3:42 pm

Wow!!! Talking about Spin….you folks are spinning this out of control and are missing the message completely, what is it ? You don’t like blacks or something? He’s speaking about the youngsters who have done gun violence on others because thier Parents didn’t take the time to learn about weapons themselves or let thier kids run wild,it all starts at home, teachng them the right and the wrong of Gun Ownwership. It doesn’t have anytghing to do with Democrats being at blame, thats something all you fear-mongers have created to make yourselves feel better because you are basically inadequate without your weapon. I’ve owned and enjoyed many, many weapons for the last 54 yrs of my life, never believed in abortion, belive in God, (but not to the point of mental illness), served my country, from a long line of Patriots and Gun Ownwers, nor do I pray on those who try to do the right thing and leave a little room for others to learn and decide on thier own, without being badgered and called names, etc…. why don’t all you “hater’s” just shut-up and sit down……why don’t some of you turn in those unscrupulous gun dealers that buy and sell illegal guns to sell to the inner city kids…there’s alittle more to all this than what you Hater’s say is going on….Lay-off Democrats too, none of you even know what most democrats really stand for do you. Learn to be a Real American, listen, understand, compromise, accept and decide without being over-bearing idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Tex and administrator This is my first contribution to a forum of any kind. But I must say I am agreeing with some of what Tex said. First, Eric Holder and the rest of the anti-gunner politicians have repeatedly proven themselves not to be trusted. But aside from 2nd ammendment issues, they still have job responsibilities. Administrator told Tex to listen to the actual language. I watched the video 5 times. To me it appears that Holder is talking to people about the gun violence in DC that involves the under 18 demographic. His discussion was not about the general public. He was making statements about how to lower the youth gun violence, which is something that would actually be in everyone’s best interest. In our bigger cities there is a cultural mindset where it is looked at as ok or not wrong for youths to illegally carry firearms for whatever they think they may need them for. It is that mindset that Holder was talking about when he made the weak cigarettes comparison. If statistics show that there is a big problem with a specific type of crime being commited in a specific way by a specific group in our society, then there should be considerable efforts made towards that group to lower those statistics. And since that group is our children it should be even more important to us. As I said before, gun politics aside, they still have other job responsibilities to deal with, and youth gun violence is one of them. I don’t know what all was involved with the other parts of the Gun Initiative Bill that Holder referenced at the beginning of the video, but this part of it seemed to have a little actual merit. His talk about not being cool and changing minds and the bad “brainwashing” comment was pointed at the kids, youngsters, young people, etc. who are illegally carrying guns, not law abiding citizens. I don’t know what he said in the other parts of his speech, but I didn’t see or hear him say much of anything in this short clip that made him appear racist, ranting, etc. It seemed to be taken a little out of context. Was this talk mostly for show ?? Did he really attempt to implement his suggestions ?? Has much been accomplished with youth gun violence in DC ?? Since the time of this video Holder has proven himself as another cog in the wheel of the anti-gun movement. And attempting to take guns out of the hands of law abiding adult DC citizens will not lower youth gun crime rates or any crime rates for that matter. Holder and the rest of them missed that one by a mile. I just don’t see much in this short video from 17 yrs ago to get so upset about. The anti-gun politics more recent history should be our focus.

  • Normal Gun Guy April 2, 2012, 3:08 pm

I’m not sure which is scarier… the idea that the government MIGHT someday try to enforce some kind of gun control that may or may not actually affect anyone’s right to bear arms… or some of the nutzoid paranoid ravings of some of the posters here. Some of them are SO outrageous that I have to suspect they were posted by anti-gun activists in an attempt to make gun owners look bad. You could fill an asylum here.

    • Administrator April 2, 2012, 3:19 pm

Yea it does make you wonder.

  • Quincy McDonald April 2, 2012, 2:30 pm

DId you even listen to that video? You are so busy trying to make some kind of racial issue out of this 17 year old message that you missed the hold point. First, so what if it’s directed towards blacks, if there is a problem with gun violence in the black communities is it racist to want to do something about it. Second, the message is directed towards young blacks, who shouldn’t have guns because it is illegal for them to have them. Is that racist? And lastly, I did not hear him at any time say anything about taking guns away from law abiding citizens. And just to clarify, Eric Holder is not a black leader, he just happens to be someone in a political position that happens to be black. You, Administrator, are the one trying to make a racial issue out of this.

    • Administrator April 2, 2012, 2:56 pm

No, the answer to inner city violence is not to disarm the victim and blame the guns. Have you seen Waiting For Superman? Put the energy you put into disarming victims into fixing the schools for heavens sake! Please get a clue!

    • Jean Lafitte January 28, 2013, 4:18 pm

Quincy McDonald: “So what if it’s directed towards blacks?”

Because it fails the most elementary colorblindness test you’d expect of the Attorney General of the United States of America, that’s what. When Holder was appointed, raised his hand and swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, it was potentially a great day for him, personally, and for his ideas – IF he’d behaved in a manner worthy of the opportunity.

Instead of assuring EVERY American that he represents ALL of them and is not first and foremost an American wearing a hyphen before the word representing ONE race, Holder blew it. What if his predecessors had sent out videos to whites, saying “hey, we have to get all white people to look at guns in a new way?” Warning bells would be gonging all over the press and the chattering classes of Washington.

In fact, we had Presidents and Attorneys General who, unfortunately, acted in just that fashion in our nation’s history – Woodrow Wilson won the Presidency on JUST SUCH a racist appeal, and it was a sorry day for our nation. The Democratic Party won that election because Theodore Roosevelt DARED to admit African-Americans to meaningful Federal employment in the South, and had prominent men from the civil rights movement as it existed then as honored guests in the White House. Countless other Presidential candidates, black and white, have contaminated our national history with such special racial pleadings.

Barack Obama himself, instead of apologizing to every other American of every race for belonging to Jeremiah Wilson’s divisive, nasty ministry in Chicago for twelve years – not walking out at the first racist rant as we’d DEMAND a white candidate for President to have done, arrogantly said that “the nation needed to have a conversation on race… ” Holder’s video is apparently part of that conversation in which Americans don’t owe their first loyalty to each other irrespective of race.

      That’s what.

  • NavyVet April 2, 2012, 2:10 pm

Notice how the democrap party through out history blocked blacks from gun ownership

NYC for example bans poor blacks from even owning any long guns and minorities in city housing cannot own ay type of weapon to defend themselves

The Clinton regime stated “Blacks should never have been given any firearms as they will use them to gain more freedoms” Think of the unprovoked attack with the murdering of unarned people at Ruby Ridge as Hellery called him a “Nigger lover” Look at all the mass killings under the Jent Reno /clinton regime to stiffle the rights of citizens

Rich people in NYC like me can get a full carry permit NEVER A black

  • Matt April 2, 2012, 12:53 pm

Blaming guns for crime is like blaming spoons for Rosie O’Donnell.

  • Dan April 2, 2012, 12:30 pm

Holder also doesn’t mention that it’s ILLEGAL for young kids to own guns! So he’s anti-gun, wants to stop gun violence, and wants to keep guns out of the hands of PEOPLE THAT AREN’T ALLOWED TO OWN OR PURCHASE GUNS!
As he said, he “THINKS” he’s a pretty good lawyer. Stopping gun violence by keeping guns out of the hands of these young gang-bangers is a good thing. Stopping honest citizens from having guns is another. Again, more people die daily from auto accidents and alcohol than by guns, but you don’t hear him saying we should get rid of cars or alcohol!

  • KennethAmerica April 2, 2012, 12:18 pm

I watched Mr. Holder’s talk. I see that he is addressing the problem of guns in the inner city; of black teens with (probably stolen) guns acting out- shooting peers and other victims- in imitation of the “cool” factor portrayed on TV. He wants kids to report kids carrying guns so that they can be taken off the street and no longer endanger the law abiding citizen. There is no racist rant. Nor is there anything in that video that threatens me and my right to own and to legally carry firearms.

In my opinion, the most pressing issue for the guns rights community is the need to stress the responsibility we have to KEEP OUR WEAPONS SECURE so that they are not stolen and misused by opportunistic criminals.

I say that gun control begins at home. Get a real* gun safe and use it for storage. It is a really good investment. Install secure lock boxes in all vehicles and use them whenever you can’t take your weapon into a prohibited area. Every gun that we legal owners retain is another gun out of the hands of the bad guys. Less guns for bad guys = less pressure for “gun control”. It really is that simple.

*California DOJ standards for gun security are a joke. Some of the units that are CalDOJ approved can be busted in less than two minutes. Get a TRTL30 (or at least a TRTL15) rated box. TRTL30 means that they are resistant to attack by cutting torch and tools for a MINIMUM of 30 minutes.

  • Ken Holt April 2, 2012, 12:05 pm

First let me say that I am a gun owning, gun toting African American who believes in the 2nd amendment. After viewing the video of Eric Holder it is clear that his statements were regarding the out of control handgun violence among minority youth in the Washington DC area (hence his reference to Marion Barry, someone not popular outside the the DC minority community) and was from years ago (hence reference to “The Fresh Prince” and “Martin”). For this to be characterized as his political attitude regarding 2nd amendment rights in general is just wrong. After nearly 4 years in office there is no evidence of this at all in the Obama Administration’s policy. Washington DC, like New York, is one of the most densely populated areas of the country and has historically suffered uniquely severe problems with handgun violence. Law enforcement officials from both these areas have concluded at the end of the day that the bodies simply don’t pile up as fast or as high when handgun ownership is restricted there. While you may not agree with that stance politically I am sure that you would have a less theoretical and more practical attitude about it if you personally had to deal with the problem. For Holder’s comments to be characterized as “racist” is a bit of a stretch don’t you think? Nothing he said seemed unreasonable in context. If you disagree with his politics, that’s fine, but if your defense of 2nd amendment rights is so absolute that it doesn’t allow people to even discuss anything that YOU feel might endanger it, under ANY circumstance, maybe its YOU who is unreasonable…

    • Administrator April 2, 2012, 12:13 pm

No Ken. The gun control movement has racist roots, much like the “reproductive rights” movement (google Maafa 21). If you watch the JPFO video you will have a better understanding of why this is a huge issue and why black gun owners should stop making excuses for their politicians and start standing up for the disarmed victims in the inner cities. YOU can have a gun. THEY can’t, and it is because their politicians have an agenda to keep them as victims.

  • Larry Velasco April 2, 2012, 11:01 am

WE have to get rid of the RACIST, Eric Holder. The guy is one of the Little Muslim PUNKS appointees. Show me one of them that is any good at all. He appoints unqualified people just for the sake of doing it. Do you really think this is equality? Barry Soetoro Hussien, The perfect LIAR and his band of IDIOTS are ruining OUR country. It’s time to DUMP all of them. VOTE, and when you do, make sure it’s not for Obama. He is truly EVIL. Eric Holder should be jailed and so should his boss, the PUNK MUSLIM NUT. Concerned AMERICAN, Larry Velasco

  • dmiller April 2, 2012, 10:56 am

@ Jxck Because it shows his true colors and in his currrent position in the Obama administration he can do a lot of damage to our 2nd ammendment and in fact is a criminal

  • dmiller April 2, 2012, 10:40 am

@ Charles By criminal friends do you mean the ones at the BATF?

  • dawson April 2, 2012, 10:39 am

    • bob April 2, 2012, 5:53 pm

      I agree 100%

      • Dan April 2, 2012, 7:01 pm

        I do agree.

  • dmiller April 2, 2012, 10:29 am

@ wwkiii Apparently you haven’t read the 2nd Ammendment.

  • Michael Parker April 2, 2012, 10:23 am

I watched your movie clip on Irick Holder talking about guns, I don’t see anything wrong telling young people about guns, and I agree with you that we should keep the 2nd amendment in tack. I’m a gun owner myself. I do feel that your site is leaning toward racism and right wing reaction towards the Obama administration.

  • Bob SLoop April 2, 2012, 10:04 am

It should come as no suprise that , Arne Duncan, Secretary of Education, is staunchly anti 2nd amendment. What better way to brain wash a generation than to have Duncan and Holder in charge of the nation’s educational system and judical system. Find a better way to educate your kids than allow government (public) schools to indoctrinate them.

    • Tim April 2, 2012, 10:24 am

Just another crooked Democratic Chicago politician. (Just like the President. He may be yours but he
      sure as hell isn’t mine.)

  • Charles April 2, 2012, 10:01 am

I own several guns which spend most of their lives in my locked safe, where they are safe from Eric Holder’s friends and prying fingers trying to take them away. Because if Holder has his way, only his black criminal friends will have guns and the rest of us will be at their murderous mercy. Holder has only proven to me that he can bear contempt for Congress, lack all empathy for the innocent Mexican civilians that have died as a direct result of illegal Fast and Furious gun sales to drug runners and cover up his involvement to the point that he has redacted every reference to his being involved in Fast and Furious and giving the go ahead to start this antihuman, anti-Mexican culture operation which will haunt everything that Holder ever does in government from now to his death.

  • Jxck April 2, 2012, 9:41 am

Why are we wasting energy on a video that was shot 1-30-95? This video (if the time stamp is right) is 17 years old- why do you care what he said that long ago? Is he still in office? What is he saying now? That’s what really counts.

  • Michael R. April 2, 2012, 9:20 am

If guns are like cigarettes, why are there not more controls (like Massachusetts has on firearms) for the purchase of cigarettes? I see kids of all races as young as 12 smoking while walking to school. How about some manditory minnimum punishment for those kids ho are smoking AND the stores that sell to them?

  • Tex April 2, 2012, 9:14 am

One thing that ticks me off SO bad is when people throw out the RACIST card when it shouldn’t be. Please explain how Mr. Holder SPEECH was a racist rant! The one single thing that people are doing to day that is bringing our nation to its knees is called Making Something out of NOTHING! One, this was filmed when? 16 YEARS AGO! Two, he was talking about the people in DC. The majority of young people are young blacks. Where was this speech filmed? Who was he talking to? You claim he was being racist because he brought up shows with black actors, but if that was his audience then how could it have been racist? I also don’t see a rant. I didn’t hear him say all guns, I didn’t hear him say no one should carry. I heard him say he wanted to get young people not to carry. That could go many different ways. You media people pull peaces of video and then use it how you see fit. In this case, all it does is make the article author look like a racist conspiracy freak.

I am a gun owner, a chl holder, and an avid 2nd amendment right protector. I feel if you are going to be a legit fighter, you need to do so in a way that doesn’t make you look like a chicken little.

    • Administrator April 2, 2012, 9:25 am

Think it through Tex. And listen to the actual language.

      • Tom April 2, 2012, 10:22 pm

Actually what he said was to BRAINWASH our children. That sounds pretty bad to me

  • bob April 2, 2012, 9:01 am

I still do not believe that the american public will ever give up their arms. Try taking away the gun of the unionized UAW—who mostly hunt on their time off. Try taking away the guns of retired or off duty police officers, or former military people. WILL NOT HAPPEN. The revolt witll start on the inside by these people. I cannot believe that a policeman, an avid hunter, is going to come to my door to take them away, and give up theirs.

  • wwkiii April 2, 2012, 8:49 am

I’ve owned and loved guns all my life as has my family but the comments here and the article above only make us looks like the “nuts” that the press and politcians call us. There is no reason that there can’t be a reasonable dialog regarding what kind of guns we should be able to own or who should own them. Unfortunately, we won’t allow it. So we continue to sound like extremists. We bring it on ourselves

    • Tex April 2, 2012, 9:24 am

      Exactly!
There will always be guns. There will always be bad people. There will always be bad people that legally buy guns and use them for bad things. The last thing we need is for us to look like nut jobs.

      • norm faber April 2, 2012, 11:06 pm

It’ all in the eye of the beholders. Whats you definition of gun nuts?

    • john hall April 8, 2012, 10:35 pm

if the government can choose what we own or carry’ we might as well turn them in tobe melted down.

  • Brad Cole April 2, 2012, 8:48 am

WHY DOESN’T HOLDER USE THE PHRASE ” CARRYING ILLEGAL GUNS, NOT JUST GUNS. ILLEGAL MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. YOU CAN GET IT, CAN’T YOU ? STOLEN GUNS ,CARRYING WITHOUT A LICENSE

BIG DIFFERENCE THAN LEGAL. PEOPLE CARRYING LEGAL GUNS ARE NOT LIKELY TO COMMIT A CRIME. WHAT ABOUT THE ONES WHO HAVE STOLEN GUNS AND NO LICENSE TO CARRY GUNS ? GEE I WONDER WHAT THE ARE LOOKING FOR.

    • Michael R. April 2, 2012, 9:37 am

Well, it is like Martha (don’t call her Marcia) Coakley the MA District Attorney said while running for the Senate against Scott Brown: “Technically, it is not Illegal to be Illegal in Massachusetts. Must apply to illegal guns as well as illegal aliens in the eyes of the Dem’s.

  • doug April 2, 2012, 8:13 am

    • bob April 2, 2012, 9:07 am

Eric Holder, you got that right–look at Chicago and the state of Illinois, how many shootings of innocent people, unarmed, has happened since the start of 2012??? Now this is a supposed gun free state where only criminals and law enforcement have guns. Same with Philadelphia, where carry permits and frowned upon by the city—I would never go into Philly without my concealed carry.

      • Tim April 2, 2012, 10:20 am

We have a Firearms owner’s Identification system in Illinois. Whenever there’s a shooting/murder in
Chicago the media chooses not to inform us if the weapon used was legally registered to the perpetrator.
Gee! I wonder why. Father Barkley Plager and Jesse Jackson Sr. stand up and agitate for more gun laws
but they don’t say what kind. The whole thing is a blatant attempt to totally remove guns.
“When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.” Truer words were never spoken!

        • Dan April 2, 2012, 6:56 pm

When and if guns are outlawed, I guess I will have to become an outlaw to protect my family and property.

        • Gary Emch April 4, 2012, 3:27 pm

Jesse and Al make their living whining and crying about any thing to do with the black race. They are people who have no honor, standards or values than to incite rioting etc. If these two including Obozo had to make a real living of their own they’d be living on the streets. They have nothing to offer to anyone with a business.

  • Ronald Burkholder April 2, 2012, 7:43 am

Dr. L, don’t be so sure this won’t happen. Ask the Brits and the Aussies. If Obama gets another four years he will get the opportunity to put one more lying activist judge on the Supreme Court and the voting there will turn 5-4 against the right of the individual to keep and bear arms. The first challenge will result in a ruling that it only applies to people in the militia, which will be interpreted to mean active duty, guard, and reserve folks. It will be all down hill from there.

    • carl April 2, 2012, 1:06 pm

Your right, Obama has had to play nice this first four years but if he gets elected again there want be any stopping what he will try to do. he want have anything to lose. There are other ways politicians can try to force thier agandas, such as 100% tax on ammo and or guns. They have done things like this in the past they could try again.

  • Tommy April 2, 2012, 7:39 am

Why is it every time we have an election the 2nd Amendment comes into play. I was going to say that this does’nt happen with all the other amendments, but looking at the last 2 administrations that just isn’t true. It seems that the loss of our Constituional Rights has been greatly accelerating since 911. With the (un)Patriot Act and recent executive orders and the NDAA, they have basically done away with the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 10th Amendments (did I forget any). Hell it’s even illegal to protest about our government now too. We need to look up our politicians voting records and vote to remove from office, those who would seek to enslave us. It’s not too late to stop all this nonsense, but time is definitely running out, if we do not act swiftly.

People this vid is from “1995” do the math…17 years ago. When “Obama was elected a rumor was started that all AR type guns would be banned. What a bonanza for the gun industry. Back logs of 9 or more months for delivery then came the tax that never was “Clinton”. Let’s face it, we Create our own histeria and pay through the nose for it. I for one would like the price of ammo to go down. Fat chance because the raw materials are constantly going up and some of the elemental components are becoming scarcer.
Protect our second amendment rights by remembering all the senseless school shootings and speaking out on those individuals. Which is what this pre-Columbine vid is about.

    • David Craig Hiser April 2, 2012, 1:51 pm

Wow, how nice to see at least one other person on here who is reasonable and not convinced of conspiracy theories!
The article raises some legitimate points (and some that aren’t) but these comments have been filled with the same NRA extremist nonsense as usual.

Guess what guys? Some liberals have guns too, and believe in the 2nd amendment (along with the rest of the constitution). But when you oppose all forms of control, no matter how practical or effective, and when you pretend that the evidence is totally one-sided when we all know it isn’t, this doesn’t help the cause, it just makes you lose credibility with everyone who is not a gun nut.

  • Kenny Doktor April 2, 2012, 6:31 am

gun control is pushed by the people who stomp on folks. they do not want ordinary Americans to be able to have an equal voice. If you are scared, and elderly, when a vote comes up re: crime in the local community, you won’t be seen at the poles. That is power. to gain votes is expensive, to restrain votes for the opposition is cost effective, just let the local gangsters use their clientele to terrorize the community, and reward them by letting them continue to do what they do.
Now we have a president who thinks he is Denzel in American Gangster, and a att gen who cant get past his lack of black pigment, and spent his life proving he was black enough. I suppose that applies to several in this admin. Panther wannabees, very dangerous for the youth.

So he linkS violence to guns. They are not peacekeepers they are bad violent things like policemen and soldiers. NOBODY SHAFTS EM LIKE Holder. JOB SECURITY. NO CRIMINALS NO JOB FOR HOLDER……CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF LIES AND BRAINWASHING OF YOUNG AND INNOCENT. THE CRIME RATE HAS CONSITENTLY GONE DOWN WHEN GUNS ARE CARRIED BY CITIZENS. ALWAYS!!!

  • big mike April 2, 2012, 4:00 am

instead of gun control we need to control our so called politioners and vote them out.the 2nd amendment has been here a lot longer than they have been political figures.i vote to put in term limits, they get to comfortible in those positions and forget what the people (us) want and enjoy.what was the first thing you get when you join the military,a gun its all right to use to defend your country but not your family or property.yes something is sure wrong with this picture.just remember vote to keep what is our rights.

    • Mike Glock April 2, 2012, 11:12 am

I agree with you Mike about putting term limits on politicians. Look at Ted Kennedy he lived his whole life as a Senator. Obama was no elected he was selected. Holder should be fired from office and tried for treason for crimes he has committed against America. We should clean house and start all over again with a government we can trust.

God Bless America and Long Live the Republic.

How can a limited term for all politicians be added to any bill as long as the politicians control all bills introduced? Its time to clean house before they destroy our nation with their greed and stupidity. Remember they want to take away our guns so there is no way to stop whats happening now. When they have control of our guns thats all she wrote!! Screw NATO as well.

Guns dont Kill Poeple !!!People Kill People !!!you can put a gun on your table and it will just be there until someone picks it up then and only then does it come into effect!!!!!

  • Mark Gasque March 26, 2012, 2:04 pm

I am so tired of hearing the age-old argument that guns make people violent. Mankind was violent long before the invention of guns. If we took away all of the guns people would stab each other to death and if we then took away all of the knifes people would pick up rocks and smash each others heads in. Unfortunately there will always be that violent element amongst the normal everyday people and taking away our means of defending ourselves will only aid in the annihilation of decent law abiding citizens.

    • A Critic March 26, 2012, 2:55 pm

I agree. I personally would also rather get shot than crucified. People say “imagine a world without guns” and I do so substituting history in place of my imagination and man what an ugly idea that is.

    • brookin April 2, 2012, 1:43 pm

I am in full agreement with you. But (& bear with me on this one), with a-holes like Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida…he hands over ‘Guns are baaaad for people’ argument, which I am tired of hiring. Yes if you don’t have a fire you had better turn to a stone or rock, humans will survive…& if surviving an attack means a rock/stone,so be it. A rock is just as much a projectile as a bullet from a firearm. I know what has gotten me most upset about the point of this article is that how correct the writer IS and look how CORRECT they are.

With Zimmerman you have someone who has the right to carry a CCW, but acting like a wanna be cop, & staking out surveillance for neighborhood watch WITH a firearm is not Stand your Ground (which by the is a great law,as is the castle doctrine), it is Looking for Trouble. And all liberal, gun hating radicals who don’t want me or you to protect ourselves have jumped on this issue with relish….but of course, they know what’s best for us. Just as the same people are whipping everyone into a racial lather in Florida.

We, black or white have the right to protect ourselves, it’s the 2nd Amendment, but gun haters would love to take our firearms from us, have us all still be ignorant living in the dark ages and black vs. white. We are law abiding citizens, not commies. Further more we should have the CCW right to protect ourselves from the likes of overzealous idiots like Zimmerman and strengthen our 2nd Amendment right to keep us protected from the Obama Admin., Eric Holder and the blatant anti-gun activists.

      • Administrator April 2, 2012, 1:58 pm

A bad guy out to hurt someone is a bad guy out to hurt someone, and it has nothing to do with using anti-gun speeches to pander to campaign money. This is the first Zimmerman comment we are letting through, because sheer stupidity of using today’s anecdotal case against gun rights for blacks in the inner cities is again, like the point of the editorial, RACIST. Disarming law abiding inner city black people who are just trying to live their life as honest Americans is disarming the victim. How does the Zimmerman case effect a guy trying to raise his family in Detroit, or Chicago, who is forced to live in fear of the gangs, who all have guns? You want him a permanent victim because you have a politicized self defense case to complain about? Young black people are killing each other every day in the inner cities. Who cares about them? Who cares about the innocent victims who have to leave in fear every day of their lives. Not black anti-gun politicians, and not morons who point to the Zimmerman case as an example of excessive force with firearms. Nobody knows what happened that night, and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH GUN RIGHTS FOR BLACK PEOPLE IN INNER CITIES. The 2nd Amendment applies to all law abiding Americans, and the Al Sharptons and Eric Holders of the world have no right to take that away.

    • Erik, Olympia Wa. April 2, 2012, 6:22 pm

They had better take away my golf clubs also….
Anyone that has gone with me knows they can be dangerous to bystanders.

    • Jacob April 3, 2012, 12:49 am

Understand that I am a proud gun owner, a frequent shooter, and a gun rights activist. Also understand that guns “caught on” as a tool because it makes it EASIER to kill something, and that is what anti-gun people believe is the dangerous thing. Anti-violence and anti-gun however, are often separate issues.
