Glock has the luxury of being able to sell pretty much as many guns as they can make, but they still have a finely tuned ear to consumers and LE in order to figure out exactly what is the next Glock that will make you happy. This G30s is a compact .45ACP with a 10 round magazine and slightly thinner grip, and the unique feature is that they have put a G36 slide on it, making it thinner and easier to conceal. They can use the thinner slide because the .45ACP is not a particularly high pressure cartridge. It was designed just after the turn of the last century and is known as the ultimate manstopper in a handgun. A lot of us prefer to carry it, but the guns can be bulky. This new G30s reduces the footprint of Glock’s 10 round 45ACP gun, making it a great choice for concealed carry. Glock also has a few new Gen 4 guns this year, and they hope to release this 30s in Gen 4 as well as the G36.
I just got a 30sf so I wont be messing with this. I used to have a g36 and will be getting it back. The 36 is still slimmer AND smoother. Just don’t want my bedside gun to be 7 rounds. 30 can take 21 mags so I get the best of both. 30sf is still a ccw gun. Plus the 30 is softer shooting than the s. Glock wont be able to make enough s models .I just dint want people to under estimate the 36.
Timing is everything and apparently i have no timing. I went down to buy three mags for my Gluck 17. I can’t get the mags because of Obamas crap in Washington. And just like in the gold run days, finding 9mm, 22lr,45, 38SP and a few others are out of stock. And not just at the normal shops but at the big box stores too. What the hell is going on? Our government is acting in an manner totally conflicting with candidate obamas campaign pledges or he and his crew are outright liars. And this is just the beginning. I think Obama is going to single handedly scare the uneducated to buy his BS about the max magazine capacities and how all of the auto rifles are murdering citizens everyday. Well, they are. Just in the city of Chicago where he and his cronies have had and still do have complete control over legislation. How many rapes, murders, break ins with a weapon and batteries have taken place with mulitiple shot mags such as an AR-15 type weapons? Who wins second and third places?
Let’s get off the political BS and get back to reality. If I am wrong please let me know but don’t fill our answer with what ifs. Let’s deal in the real world and not Obmanation. He is in a transitory position. He hon’t be here long. That is wonderful in its own way but how much damage will have to be undone before he and his BS entourage have set us back so far that recovering will be almost impossible. He’s a puppet. A dangerous one but non the less a puppet on the string. Go away obama. Respect has to be earned and you have proven that world leaders might smile and you but are just waiting for your overflow. And that will surely happen.

As I understand it, and I might well be wrong, you can put a Glock 36 slide on a Glock 30 today and it will work. the only thing i heard is that it is better not to load the maxium number of rounds in the magazine. Can anybody confirm the slide swap?
I did this conversion years ago (when the models were first introduced) and it’s been fine, admitting limited range time doesn’t constitute a proper “reliability test”. Having both G30 and G36, I could swap uppers/barrels as a free test before committing to parts. I had to send my G30 frame to Glock USA HQ in order to buy a G36 slide. I used an aftermarket G36 barrel for the lead-bullet-friendly rifling (Wolf-something, I think, have to dig out my notes) although I used the stock G36 barrel for initial tests.
The result looks like a trim G36 with a slightly fatter grip. Slide-to-frame gap *seems* needlessly wide for my taste, particularly the little semi-circle at the front end, but it is actually comparable to Glocks in general, based on studying their ads. I don’t think you would notice the gap in a line-up with other models.
Overall, I am pleased with my example but I wouldn’t do it again since it was not cost effective (having to buy a new G36 slide to get one at all). It is nice to be “vindicated” by the new Glock model that the original G30 slide, taken from their earlier 10mm model, is needlessly heavy for the 45ACP round.
I have had a Glock 30 and Glock 21 for several years, as well as six 1911s of various makes, including 2 SAs, 3 built with Caspian frames and slides, and a Colt, my original. I upgraded my Glock .45s with the latest trigger bar and new firing pin safeties designed to prevent light primer strikes, although I never had any issues when shooting them. While they shoot very different from 1911s, I have no issues with the Glock feel or the large grips profile. They are competitively priced, defensively accurate, reliable, and with plenty of capacity. Moreover, they are so easy to work on with their drop-in parts. What more can one ask for? If the G30s is as good as the G30, it will be another choice in the very practical Glock lineup. While I love 1911s and periodically carry them, when I take handgun training courses I nearly always use Glocks. They are so simple to operate, and they run, and run, and run, and I can if I wish go through a 600 – 700 round course of fire without having to clean and/or lube the pistol during the training. Just my experience.

It’s almost like they won’t make a full size single stack .45 out of some kind of priciple or something. They came out with the 30 and everyone said a 1911 size single stack Glock will be next…Wrong. Then they teased us and brought out the 36… perfect….now just extend the slide and grip and we are in business , that must be next…wrong. They made up their own caliber…guess what no one bought it and it failed. Now this… I have carried a Glock on duty for 18 years and love em , but Glock has never and will never listen to their customers. Who in the h@ll ever even thought of puttin a 36 slide on a 30… man Glock just won’t do what we want.
What they (Glock) doesn’t tell you is that with the G30 SF and the G30S you CAN NOT add on the back strap laser, or the grip plug. Last I contacted Crimson Trace, they had no plans to make it either.
I love my Glock 30 gen2. With a mag extension it shoots as well as my hot rod Thompson 1911. I actually like it better. My 15 year old son was all torso shots first time he shot it. I have added a Laserlyte sight and love it. Fits well in my Fobus hip holster. I also have mags from my 21… 13 round pre-ban; they fit it perfectly. 11 in the carry and 26 more for back up; nice carry set up.
Bought a Glock G30. Yes, they get retail plus whatever the dealer wants now, as I paid 589 plus tax plus the 10 buck FBI check. this plastic weapon is a damn joke next to the Colt model 70 combat commander i had in the early-mid 80’s. That colt model 70 had been throated out, had night sights,had 4 LB of trigger pill, and; it was the first pistol I knew I could hit a sparrow on a wire at 50-75 feet. it was that damn well gunsmithed by the best 45 man I ever saw. I’d gladly give this G30 plus a grand for that Colt.
I hear ya. Buy a Sig Sauer P220. It’s not plastic, and it’s accurate right out of the box.

I have the Glock 36 & love accept for its bulk, and I just purchased the Glock 21 Gen4. to shoot against my Kimber Classic 45……You have to give Glock credit for listening to their customers…..Only one question how do we retro-OBAMAize them to 7 round magazines???????
How about making a front sight that will not break off or fall off the weapon? I have a Glock model 23 40 cal. I carry
in my boot. I recently noticed the front sight was missing from the weapon. Question what was it? plastic? Give me a
break. I inspected the weapon for broken pieces but found none. I will not be happy to buy any more Glocks. I have
owned many hand guns over the years and this is the first time the sight fell off. Disgruntled.
Just get the steel front sight from Glock. Cheap and your all set.
How about some single stack full size and midsize guns to make the frame thinner and easier to grip?
There is such a weapon. It is called a Colt Commander. Get one and practice.
