Important Gun Violence Video to Share With Friends

Uncategorized

This is an objective, homemade video explaining some of the numbers on gun violence in the US and how the media and politicians are ignoring the real numbers and attempting to play on emotions. Violent crime has been declining for many years in the US, and compared to the UK, we have a much lower overall rate. We do have a problem with violent crime in our inner cities, including gun homicides, 75% of which is related to gang violence. As we explained in our Appeal to Women & Minority Gun Owners, the current media blitz against guns is racist and extremely callous about the real problems in our inner cities. This video identifies the problem, population centers of over 250,000. The Heller and Robertson decisions originated in Chicago and Washington D.C. respectively. If we don’t give any ground right now, our inner cities are on the way to at least arming the victims. And as the video explains at the end: “Improve the poverty level, create jobs, improve the educational system. That is how you are going to reduce crime in those neighborhoods. ”

One small problem with what was said in the video. Something like “The FBI has no agenda” with their crime reports.

First as human beings or organizations of human beings we ALL enter EVERY topic or situation with an agenda. That is a given. I did much industrial training forming “work teams” to design their own areas. We taught the fact that each member would come in with an agenda and if you accept this (and look in the mirror and admit you do too) it is much easier to get on with the solution of the problem.

The FBI is rife with agenda. Take for instance it’s statistics about “gun death involving children”. They make no division of little Mary next door raped and shot by a big ugly bad guy or the thousands of urban gang members that TRY to kill each other every day. Or the gang member that HAVE to murder someone, anyone, with other members watching as part of initiation into the gang, the idea being they will not snitch as they would have other members witnessing their crime.

Even more agenda like on the FBI side is the fact they call anyone under 21 years of age a child. For a long time now is legally you are an adult at 18. If they FBI cut their statistic off at 18 it would cut out a huge number, possibly a majority, of those gang shootings as those 3 years seem critical in gang life.

Obviously most gang members live in communities of larger than 250,00 although it has been sifting into smaller and smaller communities once the Corporate Gangs like the Crips and the Bloods figured out there was big money in selling drugs in these places and it was nice to live in a nice place where less people shot at them on a regular basis than a nasty place like South Central L.A.

Yes it is true that fewer kids would join gangs if they did not live in places like South Central L.A. Yes it is true with the right kind of action we could keep many of the kids IN places like South Central or Oakland, CA out of gangs and therefore less likely to shoot someone or get shot.

This is only one place the FBI crime statistics are used to support one or more of THEIR agenda .

I have lived all my life in lower income neighborhoods. I have also grown up around guns and owning guns. I bought my first handgun when I was 10 years old. It was a .22 revolver. Although I have lived in relatively high crime areas most or many of the law abiding neighbors were armed. Low and behold, the thugs stayed away with the prospect of being killed or maimed if they tried to victimize us. Therein is the answer. More guns, less crime. Gun control laws only protect the burglars and robbers. They make victims out of the honest citizens.

I don’t have the stats and dates in front of me, but I would wonder how much “Opposite Effect (unintended Consequences)” Gun Control Legislation has had on the spike? Seems like it spiked around the time of the “Brady Bill” and came down (with some exception) after the legislation expired. This would seem to feed into “…Only Criminals would have Guns” Philosophy. The same could be said for Major metropolitan areas like DC, Chicago, NY, etc…where gun control is so tight, yet crime is so high. Just a thought!

Pretty good presentation. Except the dig about England having 1/6 the metropolitan areas than the US. That seems like a comparable ratio to me as they also have 1/6 the total population? I am not gonna reference my source because that would appear to make my comment credible. I am spouting statistics without backup.

When referring to those same metropolitan areas, would it not be more representative to compare the total population count of those areas rather than the number of areas? xxx areas with 250,000+ population might be less meaningful than xxx, xxx, xxx total souls in areas that met the standard.

Statistics don’t lie. Liars do use statistical analysis. sort of like: “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”

We really should outlaw passion, mental instability, and such.

This is what I have been writing about since Sandyhook. Every politician that doesn’t use statistics correctly has a personal agenda of controlling others to make them subservient to the elitists. Dianne Feinstien keeps spouting that guns are creating crime! She has swayed other politicians to tow the party line and repeat the wrong talking points for over 20 years now. When you look at the crime rate in California between periods of gun bans the crime rate has decreased. She doesn’t want to accept the truth! It is not about guns and how they look like their military select fire automatic brothers. The agenda is to remove freedoms and take us back to the days of elite rule, we pay taxes on everything we own, they take away property and imprison you if you don’t cooperate.

I am not a dooms dayer, however, with the time I spend on researching current events and the entities behind or involved, there is a very strong movement to do exactly as I have ascribed above. I am not the only one saying this. Just as it was used in this video, people can see what happens when a city or state has tough gun laws.

Speak UP! Talk with your representatives frequently and tell them in not certain terms will you accept ANY INFRINGEMENT OF ANY CONSTITUTIONAL LAWS. GUN BANS of any type VIOLATE the RIGHTS SETFORTH IN THE CONSTITUTION

  • Floyd Burdett March 11, 2013, 4:34 pm

This sounds like ME, on a daily basis!
I use these SAME statistics, over and over, as I discuss this ‘gun control hysteria’!
One thing I WILL point out, though, about the crime statistics of recent years…
    “PLEA BARGAINING” …
Because of the over-crowding of our judicial systems, (and the LAZY ‘members of the Court’ [lawyers and DA’s and even Judges] they are reducing the crime statistics –so the politicians look better– and the criminals are serving LESS time — so they are BACK on the streets to victimize MORE innocent victims!) the ‘Plea Bargain’ has reduced MOST of our crime stats by “changing the truth” to ‘accepting a lesser charge’.

BUT, even though I AGREE and SUPPORT everything said in this video…
We MUST REMEMBER that “Gun Control” is about our ABILITY TO RESIST the GOVERNMENT!
The 2nd Amendment is NOT about hunting tools, nor about Self-Defense! This is the TACTIC of the Left to USE as an ‘excuse’ to control our guns, limit our capacities, and soon to CONFISCATE our guns!
They TELL us it is for OUR Protection…but it is REALLY about THEIR ‘protection’ — so that THEY will not be shot when they TAKE FULL CONTROL over every citizen!!

  • Kerri March 6, 2013, 7:40 am

    Very well said!

  • mitchell c March 4, 2013, 3:08 pm

Okay…. So we’ve all seen the video. We all agree it is well thought out and well presented. I’ve even taken the time to look over these statistics to see if there is anything glaringly wrong or ignored in this video – nothing I can discern as biased or in error. That leaves one profound question: how do we get those self isolating, self aggrandizing people that now sit in what was supposed to be a self supporting federal government to see this video… And then do something right??

  • Floyd February 24, 2013, 8:19 pm

Wayne, the Professional journalists “reporting” about gun violence and gun control would have to be deeply embarrassed after watching this video. The state media ABC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN etc… could all learn from you but they are too busy keeping their head down at the koolaide fountain. Great article! Oh, don’t look for an invite from P Morgan either!

  • Dan S February 23, 2013, 7:48 pm

I disagree with the idea from a previous poster that sending this to our leaders in congress is of no use. It appears that most of our leaders in Congress do not understand what is really going on. Otherwise we would not be having this discussion!!! Most political agendas are one-sided and bills are designed by particular sponsors with agendas to push through for their political purpose. Including riders on bills. These are then reviewed and then decisions are made. If Congress is provided with bad information, it leads to bad choices and an idiotic bill wins. The reverse is true as well. If an advocacy groups takes particularly statements in this discussion group and supports these statements with documented evidence and facts, then Congress will listen and it will stir up a real interest.

The process is the following. First, a representative sponsors a bill. The bill is then assigned to a committee for study. If released by the committee, the bill is put on a calendar to be voted on, debated or amended by Congress. If the bill passes by simple majority (218 of 435), the bill moves to the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and, if released, debated and voted on. Again, a simple majority (51 of 100) passes the bill. Finally, a conference committee made of House and Senate members works out any differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill.

Very good. But unless “we the people” get off our asses and DO something, it won’t matter! This whole thing about gun control is just a ploy by our government to get people’s minds off the horrible state of our economy, rampant government spending, government corruption, and joblessness! And it is working well. But make no mistake. Most of our government wants to grab all guns! So ploy or no, the intent is real! “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Ask yourselves. Is our local, county, state, and national government mostly free from corruption, or mostly riddled with corruption?Congress and the House give not a damn about “innocent lives lost” at Sandy Hook, or a theater, or in a mall to “gun violence”. This country and it’s government AND it’s citizens have allowed about 40 – 50 MILLION innocent lives to be taken since the Roe V Wade decision was handed down. We did it by doing NOTHING!This is by far the greatest National shame and out rage EVER by any country EVER in history. It far out strips Hitler’s Nazi Germany, or Stalin’s Russia or any other atrocity any time in history! But where were all these people on both sides of this debate while THIS was going on? Where was the outrage and rhetoric on both sides of the aisles?”We the people” don’t deserve the freedoms we have, because we did not protect the freedom of innocent unborn babies to be born. We allowed a whole generation of babies to be murdered as a form of birth control! So we “rednecks” want to protect OUR rights to “keep and bear arms”? Any you “left wing liberals” want to “protect citizens” from “gun violence”?Where the hell were BOTH sides when untold MILLIONS of innocent unborn babies were murdered?SHAME AMERICA! SHAME!

What a down talking uneducated hick, Biden sounds like an East Texas bumpkin that is trying to sound important and eloquent . I have taken note of your tactical and self defense suggestions , I would bet money your wife laughs behind your back when you suggest such nonsense. My wife happens tu utilize a rock river M4 that is equipped with an aim point and tac light. She has defended our bird dogs against javelina and coyotes in the past. Each time she has stopped each threat as needed, I have no doubt if that threat were human they would meet the same fate. We tried a 12 gauge as you suggested , her 120 lb frame just isn’t built for that recoil. I suppose if your wife if is the plus size category then the 12 gauge is fine. But please please don’t get her in the habit of warning shots,, it creates a great liability on her . If you do no not understand that then you need to come to one of my classes and learn how to defend yourself properly ,, and bring your wife.

Appreciate the reasonable tone of presentation and facts. I agree with some of the conclusions that is why I strongly support efforts to improve inner-city schools and government involvement in job training programs etc. However I disagree with the suggestion that “the media” focus on mass gun murders has anything to do with some underlying agenda or conspiracy. What would be strange is if 20 little children 6 and under were mowed down in their class room by a crazy guy and “the media” didn’t sensationalize it. Same with the theater shooting in Aurora and the shooting in AZ that wounded Gabby Gifford and the Fort Hood Shooting. These are sensationalized mainly because these types of stories drive viewership. Period. They ARE news. And any politician that thinks proposing doing nothing is a good option when 20 innocents have been slaughtered is not a smart politician. Period. Please, get away from accusing anyone who presents an opinion different than yours as “agenda driven” or “biased”. This prevents an honest discussion and solutions from actually happening.

IMO the best way for gun enthusiasts to guard their second amendment rights is to fight against extremist rhetoric and come up with real constructive ideas that help keep guns out of the hands of criminals & crazies instead of fighting even reasonable suggestions at ever turn. And pretending that guns in the hands of criminals is not part of the problem (which is all most people are saying) — well that is dis-proven by facts presented in this video.

I see a bunch of people attacking Alex Jones for making a fool of himself and not helping the cause of the 2nd amendment.
What I saw was a guy who has strong beliefs and has taken it personal that our rights are being jeopardized buy a bunch of people who have no idea about guns.
Most metropolitan people think guns are out dated and not needed anylonger and thats what the government would like for us to think
Guns are a way of life for a great number of americans and they are also what has kept the government from strong arming america!
“Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not.”

    • Administrator February 11, 2013, 11:54 am

There are people with passion and there are people who sell dick pills and water purifiers on their website. Guns are just the latest thing for Alex to talk about for his lapdogs who buy the dick pills.

Excellent presentation! I also recommend watching Stefan Molyneux’s discussion (Stefbot on YouTube–http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFMUeUErYVg) for even more interesting statistics that the talking heads on TV never seem to notice. As you say, it’s not so simple but, being an empiricist, Stef is also up for the job! The most interesting statistic that he cites is, even when ONLY the assailant possesses a gun, the victim is less likely to be harmed than when neither the assailant nor victim has a gun! This make sense, once you think about it.

Also, please go here and sign the pledge: http://oathkeepers.org/oath/pledge/?p=1

Begging your elected masters and rulers for liberty isn’t enough these days!

This video has given me the motivation to go from
Pissed off gun owner, to becoming an outspoken
Activist to spread the word such as we see in this
Video in a well thought out , intelligent manner
This is the best way IMHO to counter the BS
Spread by politicians and the media
    I’m fired up!!!

Thank you so much for the information. I was blown away by the statistics!!! Sharing with anyone and everyone I can!

  • Jeff Shear January 28, 2013, 11:07 am

Just so we understand: I’ve got a Bushmaster carbine in my closet safe purchased during the last ban. (Bummer, but still a neat rifle.) I’ve got a Sig 220 and 229 (15 rnd clip) in a lock box under my bed, and a Sig 230 in my desk drawer. All have Crimson Trace lasers. I load my own .45s (185 gr) for three-gun competitions (which I never go to for fear my ass will get kicked by the old guys).

Okay? I’m a sportsman and I have an eye out for my wife and kids.

That said, this little video starts out promising honesty but before the first two minutes are up it delivers a giant lie. Maybe FOX has rotted our brains, but the New York Times has been reporting year after year about decline rates of violence. So has the News and Observer in nearby Raleigh, NC. Here’s a NYT story about a 40-year low in violent crimes:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/us/24crime.html?_r=0 … It was written in 2011! It’s never been the case that the “media” has kept secret the decline in violence. They’ve been doing it since the Clinton administration.

Dude, do your homework, play straight, walk the line! As far as I’m concerned, it’s always, always, always, “To ride, shoot straight, and speak the truth.” Jeff Cooper said that.

Feinstein, Schummer, Bloomberg etc etc don’t care about solving the violent crime problem. They care about destroying the second amendment and eliminating all firearms period. They want to implement their socialist agenda and not worry about malcontent, bible beating, mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, unsophisticated, red neck, conservative AMERICANS finally saying enough is enough, and throwing their asses out.

They work for the people and need to get fired.

They simply fear people who do not walk lock step with them having the ability to defend the Constitution.

They are hypocrites, with concealed permits that are not against guns for themselves, they just want to control you and leave you defenseless like the folks in NYC.

They appreciate the fact that throughout history, disarming the people is the first step to control along with creating a dependency on the government.

They understand all this and that total bans did nothing to curb crime. So there MUST be another reason.

  • Mike Rios January 25, 2013, 9:00 pm

I checked out these stats about a week ago when the CNN con man tried to claim America was more crime ridden than the U.K. especially when one of their own newspapers wrote a great article on what it was like to live in a country without guns. Needless to say the reporter didn’t like his country at the mercy of the crooks.

Great video. Keep ’em coming and I’ll keep sending them out.

Many elected officials have been looking for an opportunity to curtail our gun rights and think they can win now if they move quickly while emotions are high. Not doing anything or thinking someone else will do it so you don’t have to will result in the greatest loss of freedom our country has seen. Now for the easy part: Go here, and let your representatives know how you feel. Your info is NOT retained, and they do all the contacting for you. It’s Ruger’s website. Ruger has been an American business since 1949.

So… all you government conspiracy guys that think government is always lying to us and trying to take over our lives think the numbers on the FBI site are accurate why? IF THEY WERE THE OPPOSITE NUMBERS YOU WOULD SAY THEY ARE LYING! Because it fits your agendas. Such hypocrisy. Just like people screaming how they want government out of their lives and how we are turning to a socialist country but then when it comes to abortion wants the government to step in and set the laws and “manage” that part of a woman’s body. How do some of you sleep at night living in such hypocrisy?

  • Ron Chritian January 19, 2013, 3:24 am

The president, Congress, and the courts would be wise to remember the words of Alexander Hamilton from Alexander Hamilton, Federalist, No. 33:

If a number of political societies enter into a larger political society, the laws which the latter may enact, pursuant to the powers intrusted [sic] to it by its constitution, must necessarily be supreme over those societies and the individuals of whom they are composed…. But it will not follow from this doctrine that acts of the larger society which are not pursuant to its constitutional powers, but which are invasions of the residuary authorities of the smaller societies, will become the supreme law of the land. These will be merely acts of usurpation, and will deserve to be treated as such. [Emphasis in original.]

The NDAA of 2013, with the exact same unconstitutional powers as the NDAA of 2011, passed the Senate 98-0 with two senators abstaining. And so many still think this is a Republican vs. Democrat issue? When it comes to being power mad, there is NO difference between the parties. They are two heads of the same beast, devouring all they can before there is nothing left.

  • Ron Chritian January 19, 2013, 2:41 am

The equation is very simple and inevitable, and it was foreseen by our founders: The greatest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the super rich in world history, PLUS the NDAA of 2011 legalizing life imprisonment without due process for one’s politics, PLUS the Citizens United decision legalizing mass bribery of politicians, PLUS banning effective firearms = Tyranny = Revolution. Anyone who thinks America is so special that our politicians would never sink so low is just being intentionally naive. Have you been watching Congress during the last ten years, both parties? They will do ANYTHING for money and power. This firearms issue is about political power, pure and simple. What was the primary cause of the Revolutionary War? Read your history. It was the great accumulation of wealth and the complete ownership of the British Government by the East India Company, which wanted to squeeze even more out of the colonists. What were the first two battles of the Revolutionary War fought over? Oh yea, military style firearms in the hands of the people. The stats have never supported banning firearms. That is why the President has to hide behind children on national television. He has no facts, so he tries to manipulate emotions. Those who laugh at the idea that the Second Amendment is the final block against tyranny, saying that citizens armed with AR-15s could never defeat the US Army, have not been watching the Middle East during the last two years. Maybe our politicians and the super rich have, and maybe that’s exactly why they are pushing so hard on this now. One thing is for sure, the Constitution died with the NDAA of 2011, at least in the hearts of everyone in Washington. That Bill passed overwhelmingly among both parties. It was a declaration of war on the People and the beginning of the end of America as we know and love it. I suggest you read it. Under that law, our President can have anyone who writes on this blog “indefinitely detained” without anyone even knowing where you were taken, just because he feels like it. There would be nothing anyone could do, especially if the only weapons they have are bird hunting shotguns. That’s not paranoia; that’s the law of the Land.

Guys like that are only effective when preaching to the choir. When dealing with soundbite trained Americans, and when dealing with a controlled media trying to stage a rigged debate, you need a man like Alex Jones. The main people telling you that Jones hurt your cause are the people working full time to hurt your cause.

The pro-gun people have been trying this guys’ ‘sensible’ approach for decades and so far they have been steadily losing ground.

    Here are some statistics –
There are at least 80 million individual gun owners in the US. (This figure is the high end of a conservative estimate, I’ve seen much higher estimates, but this is more than large enough to be illustrative.)
Last year, there were fewer than 10,000 murders committed with firearms, but let’s just round it up to that figure.
Assuming that each murder was committed by a different offender, and each offender is part of the 80 million gun owners, this is what you can deduce:
0.0125% of gun owners commit murder every year.
This number is so astonishingly small, that a statistician would consider it “statistically insignificant.” Meaning that a statitician would conclude that 100% of gun owners do not murder people.
Yet our politicians are devising responses to “gun violence” that will affect 100% of law-abiding gun owners, and 0% of those actually responsible for gun violence. Even if it were possible to affect that 0.0125% of gun owners who murder, they’re going about doing it with measures that will curtail the rights of more than 80 million people.
    Does this make sense?

I’ve seen people say let’s call “gun free zones” “fake gun free zones.” I like that; it’s true.
I’ve seen people suggest that “assault weapons” be referred to as “modern defensive arms.” I like that, too.
I’d like to suggest, that when writing, “gun control” should be written “(gun) control”; because it’s not about the “gun,” it’s about “control.”

This is one great video presentation. Well thought out and researched. What we don’t need is more gun controls. The problem with introducing more gun restrictions or outright bans is they just won’t work. Look at the War On Drugs, Illegal Immigration, Battered Women Syndrome, (large city) Homicide Rates, etc. etc. What we need to look at is the repealing sections of the (Federal) HIPPA (Health Information Patient Protection Act) Laws with regards to identifying potentially violent and mentally unstable individuals who could gain access to firearms, whether it be through a family member or from buying one from a Dealer. This is the real social issue. Health records of juveniles (under the age of 18) are sealed. Only parents and Health Care Professionals have access to them. It should become a reality check for them if they have a child who begins to withdraw from society and relies more on violent video games than spending quality family time or having healthy relationships with people their own age. They have the moral and legal responsibility to get their child help before he/she becomes a mass murderer or they (the parent) becomes the target of their own child’s aggression, as in the Newtown, CT tragedy. And after the age of 18 if they have a previous history of violent behavior, it becomes a societal problem with this person roaming around potentially seeking helpless targets to take their aggression out on. A national database on persons declared mentally unstable by a Health Care Professional should be able to be shared with the Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.

I’m not convinced that Adam Lanza killed his mother.

In fact, I’m not convinced that Lanza killed anyone at all.

The coroner said all the kids died from an AR-15 … yet the helicopter news cameras show the cops taking an AR-15 out of his trunk. It would appear that Lanza didn’t have the AR inside the school. At the time of the shootings, the cops chased 2 men into the woods and arrested them. What ever happened to them? Was Adam the lone shooter or was he just the final victim? And, with so many victims, why was there only one coroner? It seems like they would have gotten that poor over-worked man some help … that was a lot of cadavers for a small town morgue to handle.

That national database of the feeble-minded … would that be anything like the one the Nazis kept?

  • john January 15, 2013, 12:22 pm

Absolutely spot on in the best presentation I have ever seen or heard on violent crime and guns.
Facts dont lie! This message from you needs to be heard by ALL citizens worldwide.
The sooner we understand any problem …the sooner we can fix it.
One would think any elected official would grab this as an agenda and spread the facts.
But its not about understanding and facts is it???…its about control of citizens, not protection of them.

  • Bob January 15, 2013, 7:52 am

I think this was well thought out, unfortunately there is a bigger picture that is going on out there and if the politicians can pass this we are one step closer. Please google the Naked Communist and read the 45 ways that they want to take over America without firing a shot. Form your own opinion. Then look at the administrations cabinet. You see all the information and data prove we need guns, not only to protect ourselves but to hunt and enjoy as a hobby. What does Jim Scouten say ” Shoot often and keep it in the 10 ring. ” Something like that.

  • DIYinSTL January 14, 2013, 3:19 pm

I love the video – statistical lies are one of my big hot-buttons (e.g. the so called 87% of guns confiscated in Mexico being from the U.S. is really less than 12% if you do the statistics correctly). However, the crime reduction over the past decades, according to the freaks at Freakonomics, matches up well with the Roe vs. Wade decision. But back to the subject at hand: The lazy people would have liked to see the changes in England’s violent crime since the mid-90’s ban. The information seems to no longer be at the home office but buried at the Office of National Statistics.

This reframes the argument to include all “violent crimes” including forgery, and not just gun related crimes. It is a fallacy argument called a red herring. When was the last time a forger used a gun? While this appears, by design, to be a simple video designed to inform honestly, it does nothing of the sort. Look, I’m a Libertarian, I believe in personal freedoms, including the right to keep and bear arms, but, distorting the issue, from either side, is dishonest. At least Alex Jones was sincere and honest with Piers Morgan, albeit bat-crazy. This is more insidious.

I could not in good conscience sign the petition, for one sentence.

“Where is the outrage at the violent video games he played?”

One can not, CAN NOT defend the 2nd amendment by attacking the 1st. Violent video games have never compellingly been linked to real violence in any meaningful way.

of course Lanza played Call of Duty. Nearly everyone under 40 has played Call of Duty. If he liked Bananas, one could construct as compelling a link.

I still sent President Obama a response, urging him to dismiss any further restrictions on the 2nd amendment. But we as gun owners need to really look hard at what we’re fighting for. Demonizing video games without real hard facts will just lose you the support of the younger generation of gun owners and existing and potential NRA members.

Lets see the increase in death by knife and hammers in jolly ole’ England, oh my!

  • vigilance January 13, 2013, 9:38 pm

WHEN AND HOW DO WE EXERCISE THE 2ND AMENDMENT?

What did Justice Scalia meant when he said “the 2nd Amendment is not unlimited”? We have to presume, and I am presuming, he meant the citizenry cannot use this constitutional right for treasonous act or any unlawful means. That is the only conclusion that seems logical since our right under that Amendment is very straight forward and very clear: “THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED”. But what is the condition when its use becomes “treasonous” or “unlawful”?

ONLY THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH HAS THE CONSTITUTIONAL POWER TO CREATE LAWS. It would be treasonous and unlawful for the citizenry to revolt against its own government who is acting within the legal framework of the Constitution – unless the latter has clearly become tyrannical.

Now let’s be reminded that we have a Constitutional Republic or Democracy. Underscoring the term “CONSTITUTIONAL”, let’s explore the phrase “EXECUTIVE ORDER”. This means that the President can only exercise this power within the legal framework of the Constitution. For example, under Article II, Section 2 of the USC, the President has the power – by “Executive Order” – to “grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States.” But under that same law, he does not have the Executive power to grant clemency to any one removed by “impeachment” from public office.

THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONSTITUTIONAL POWER TO CREATE LAW BY “EXECUTIVE POWER” — OTHERWISE, THAT WOULD BE DICTATORSHIP. And anything that causes undue hardship and distress to the citizenry as caused by unconstitutional act by any branch of the government by depriving the former of their constitutional civil liberties is TYRANNY.

IF THE PRESIDENT BANNED COMBAT MILITARY FIREARMS FROM THE CITIZENRY BY “EXECUTIVE ORDER” – THAT’S UNCONSTITUTIONAL; THAT’S DICTATORSHIP; IT’S TYRANNY.

What to do? “Title 42, U.S.C., Section 14141 — commonly referred to as the Police Misconduct Statute — makes it unlawful for state or local law enforcement agencies to allow officers to engage in a pattern or practice of conduct that deprives persons of rights protected by the Constitution or U.S. laws. This law also gives the Department of Justice authority to seek civil remedies in cases where law enforcement agencies have policies or practices that foster a pattern of misconduct by employees. This action is directed against an agency, not against individual officers.”

If the law enforcement agencies start confiscating firearms from the citizenry, file an official report to the FBI. The FBI and all Commissioned Officers of the US Armed Forces have the sworn oath to “SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC…” Remind them of their sworn oaths. Mobilize your Representatives. File a lawsuit against the Executive Branch. Then organize the citizen’s militia. It will be like Syria today, except the citizenry are already armed, and the possibility, hopefully, that the Armed Forces will stick to their Oath of allegiance to the Constitution.

THE FINAL QUESTION REMAINS WHETHER THE CITIZENRY WILL REALLY STAND UP TO “PROTECT, PRESERVE, AND DEFEND” THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL CIVIL LIBERTIES WHEN THE TIME COMES. AND WOULD THEY KNOW AND FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURES? FOR THIS IS AS MUCH AS IMPORTANT AS THE CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES IS VERY REAL.

This, of course, is merely a hypothetical analysis, a mere opinion, of what could and can happen – GOD FORBID…

    • zip January 14, 2013, 10:31 am

THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. “KEEP” is interpreted to mean “own”, however, that is not what “KEEP” means. If I ask you to “KEEP” my wallet, it does not imply ownership. The framers were very specific in their word choice. “BEAR” does not mean visible only. You “BEAR” arms when they are concealed. And, the Legislative Branch makes laws, however, laws are interpreted. That’s why leaving presumption to the thousand points of light only results in chaos and is why we have a Republic in the first place. Lastly, when the 2nd Amendment was written, guns fired one round and provided a limited comparative amount of offense/defense. What happens when arm developments escalate to include cruise missiles and drones, hydrogen and pulse? The original objective was for defending this early country with as many armed defenders in light of a limited army, never to threaten the home Republic itself.

bees kill more people than assault weapons do.

      (from CDC statistics)

  • JJ January 13, 2013, 12:11 pm

    As to the video:
1st: This video, so far, is the best presentation of the true precursors (as the data indicates) supposedly used by all levels of government agencies and politicians in the US, to put into law, statutes, that control all aspects (that the government determines) of gun ownership; which obviously, politicians today after Sandy Hook, like D. Feinstein, ignore, distort or falsify to the public.

2nd: Most laws are based on cause and effect(s) if they are “regulatory” laws versus “rights” laws. Cause and effect(s) data are sourced from statistics which then are “interpreted” by leading “experts” who are called upon to testify or “weigh” in on proposed legislation.
… thus when politicians or hired gun “experts” testify and skew the statistics, they become the mainstay of all anti gun advocates and “blame it all on assault rifles” propaganda and lies.

3rd: Simply, political agendas and “gun ownership” ideologies possessed by the lawmakers either individually or by political party affiliations determine their vote on Gun Bans.
5th: Voice of the citizens and private interest groups via lobbying is the limited aspect in challenging those who want to “re-invent” the constitution.
In this mix we have a strange distillation process whereby politicians, who year to year are behind the eight ball trying to weigh and fix whatever ails America at any one particular moment, seize upon the most expedient solutions, all constrained by budget and cost of enforcement.
    MONEY !!!
One example of underlying motive to enact “New Gun Laws” is the example of the arbitrary “55 mph” speed limit which was a knee jerk reaction to a fabricated “oil embargo”
Now in the hands of law enforcement, this “speed limit” money maker was continued after the embargo ended because certain politicians and police skewed and falsely promoted automobile safety data.
WHY because traffic tickets have become one of the best forms of income for every local and state government.

If you want an eye opener, just look at the drastic increase in the last 10 years of “ticket” fines in CA, and the implementation to of Additional “administrative fees” on top of the fine that in some instances exceed the amount of the fine. All going to governmental treasuries.
    Again Loudly…. MONEY MAKER!!!

My lead-in to this comments are to indicate what the politicians have in mind and are about to put into place here in America.
A: They will create new gun control regulations for 2 main reasons.
All police agencies in America want the citizens to, not necessarily be totally disarmed, but they want, ANY firepower, that exceeds or equals theirs to be banned and confiscated if possible. The first endorsement ANY politician wants these days is from local police chiefs and patrolmen associations.
    Photo Ops for sure…
This is the primary reason, an un-level playing field of gun ownership between citexen and police et. al.
It is not to stop the mayhem of people using guns to harm each other…this is a secondary benefit.
Cops don’t want people having equal or better guns … PERIOD.
    B. America is going to see the new regulations come with fees, fines and penalties, on a massive scale if you apply it to the supposed 300,000,000 guns in America.
Another subset will be increased taxes, like per gallon gasoline taxes going to the government on all things…. related to guns, such as accessories and ammo…especially ammo.
In the end, once these new “money making” policies are enacted, they won’t get repealed because this new revenue stream will be seen as a core necessity to all future governmental budgets going directly into their miss-managed governmental treasuries.

And just to leave you with some icing on the cake… CONFISCATION is REAL…. and it is the law in California. ( one aged and current generation “delayed” confiscation)
Any named gun or gun with certain characteristics which are banned will be confiscated once the owner dies. Feinstein’s law does not allow inheritance of legally owned grandfathered guns. So when you die your immediate family descendants lose your gun investments and purposes you had for owning your guns. Feinstein now wants an even harsher and greater law for the whole country.

In defense Feinstein will respond, you can give them to the Cops/LEO or sell them someplace else where they are legal other than CA ( totally disingenuous since she knows she is pushing for a no transfer of any “listed” guns federally , grandfathered or not…Federally)…or of course, you have the final option to destroy them.
What she isn’t telling you is that new federal gun laws submitted will add this provision of NO TRANSFERS or INHERITANCE, by anybody including immediate family members.
This is nothing more than a “delayed” one generation CONFISCATION of guns. What’s more scary is she has increased her list from around 300 to nearly a 1000 named guns she will ban and after one generation confiscate once “No Transfer” as in California, is passed as a Federal “gun control” law.

IT IS … about CONFISCATIN, of any and all guns on their lists, which have the effect of putting a citizen’s gun ownership, choice of gun(s), on the same level playing field as a policeman or military soldier, WHICH…BY THE WAY, is the real intent and interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

Truth, such as above will (unfortunately) never be used in arguments. Piers Morgan et al have agenda to push. That Idiot that vowed a repeat of 1776 did more against us (gun owners) than he helped. However, Obama and Biden have in fact created a “Stimulus Package” Almost ALL of the AR, AK, Etc class of weapons have been sold out for days now. Ammo is sold as son as it comes in. Obama is responsible for more gun sales than the NRA…IT’s the law of unexpected consequences…As we used to say in SAC, “Peace through Superior Firepower.”

  • Emil Blatz January 12, 2013, 6:32 pm

What this video commentary (which was very good) does not mention is the reason that the Administration will not get anywhere analysis of the data in it’s campaign for gun controls. To wit: race. The differential in violent crime between African American and non-African Americans is a large multiple. If you look at murder rates by race of perpetrator in the Uniform Crime Report series you will see that African Americans commit murder at a rate between 6 and nearly 8x that of non-African Americans. If you further segment out non-African Americans (i.e., Caucasians) into Hispanic and other than Hispanic subgroups and you compare murder perpetration rates of African Americans and non-Hispanic Caucasians, the multiple is even higher.

Now, to simply notice that fact (as published in the UCR, maintained and distributed by the Department of Justice under AG Eric Holder and at the direction of President Barack Obama) is to be called a racist. When in fact the racist behavior is to do nothing about the violence that African Americans live with every day. More than 90% of the victims of violent African American perpetrators are other African Americans. It’s as if to say they don’t matter very much, in that no one in the Justice Department takes the time to notice this differential in violent crime rates.

When you have a small portion of the population creating a disproportionate amount of the violent crime in the country, the solution shouldn’t be an infringement on the 2nd Amendment rights of all of 84% of the population, it should be serious law enforcement actions to isolate and prosecute the small portion of the 16% of the population that is African American, which is contributing much more than its share of the nation’s violent crime.

  • Rod Roberts January 12, 2013, 5:46 pm

Well said, I really liked the comparison of the data. Many people can make statistics say what they want to say, but it takes a cool presenter to make good sense of the data and show where it came from. My hat is off to you.

  • Wes January 12, 2013, 4:47 pm

Something else to consider when we compare England / UK TO the US
    We have 300-Million plus Population.
They have a total of 60- Million .
So we have over 4- times the population no one seems to ever bring this up.

    • DaveGinOly January 15, 2013, 11:48 pm

Say, Wes, that’s why everybody usually talks about “rates” (usually per 100 thousand) of violent crimes/murders. “Rates” take into account differences in total population size, and allow direct comparisons to be made even then there’s a disparity (as there usually is) in population size.

  • vigilance January 12, 2013, 4:45 pm

Let’s also remember what Adolph Hitler said in 1933.

“IF YOU WISH THE SYMPATHY OF THE BROAD MASSES, YOU MUST TELL THEM THE CRUDEST AND MOST STUPID THINGS … THIS WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY. FOR THE FIRST TIME, A CIVILIZED NATION HAS FULL GUN REGISTRATION. OUR STREETS WILL BE SAFER, OUR POLICE MORE EFFICIENT, AND THE WORLD WILL FOLLOW OUR LEAD INTO THE FUTURE!”
    Adolph Hitler
    Chancellor, Germany, 1933

Of course we all know now exactly from history what Hitler really meant! His Gestapo police were very efficient alright!

  • vigilance January 12, 2013, 4:30 pm

Shall we be surprised? Remember Sarah Brady’s take on gun control?

“OUR MAIN AGENDA IS TO HAVE ALL GUNS BANNED. WE MUST USE WHATEVER MEANS POSSIBLE. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU HAVE TO DISTORT THE FACTS OR EVEN LIE. OUR TASK OF CREATING A SOCIALIST AMERICA CAN ONLY SUCCEED WHEN THOSE WHO WOULD RESIST US HAVE BEEN TOTALLY DISARMED.”
    Sara Brady
    Chairman, Handgun Control Inc,
    to Senator Howard Metzenbaum
The National Educator, January 1994, Page 3.

  • Bernief January 12, 2013, 3:23 pm

Very astute analysis of the data. I wish he had mentioned that the “assault rifles” they want to ban are, in some cases, the exact same semi-automatic mechanism that is found in a hunting rifle – it just has a different shaped stock. Go to this website: http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14/index.html. The only difference between the Mini 14 Ranch Rifle and the Tactical Rifle is the stock the mechanism is mounted in. They both shoot the same ammo and can take the same high capacity magazines. I am going to get a Ranch Rifle rather than the Tactical Rifle just to keep the morons off my back. I like the stainless steel in a synthetic stock. Matches my 10/22. It will do nicely to be beside my bed every night to go along with my 9mm pistol.

Incidentally, remember that John F. Kennedy was killed with a WWII bolt action rifle which I think they would classify as a hunting rifle today. Robert Kennedy was killed and Ronald Reagan and James Brady were shot with 22. caliber revolvers – not even automatic weapons. Also Gabby Giffords was shot with a handgun. Over 70% of the homicides in this country are done with handguns and, as pointed out in the video, the great bulk of them are gang-related shootings. How’s that gun control working for you in Chicago, Rahm? Let’s do some more of what doesn’t work and see if we can get a different result this time – isn’t that called insanity?

  • Greg January 12, 2013, 2:19 pm

I’ve forwarded a link to this video on YouTube to all my friends – liberal and conservative. Here’s what I sent – in hopes that all of them, both liberals and conservatives, will click on the link and watch it.

    Hello friends,

No matter which side of the fence you’re on, I think we’ll all agree that our politicians, all of them, republican and democrat, and the media, often provide incomplete information that serves their agenda.

The link below is to a short YouTube video that provides some very enlightening data. After watching it, I had to share it with both my liberal and my conservative friends. It is something I think we’ll all agree on – which is pretty nice for a change.

It’s short and well worth the time. Please take a look.

great video, very informative. will watch for more.

It’s about time. To Marie: It is absolutley about power. The power to protect us from tyranny by our goverment. That is what the Second Amendment was written for. It is not about hunting and shooting. Try this quote by none other than Hitler: “This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!”

  • Sheepdog7 January 12, 2013, 1:29 pm

OK….we all agree he’s right. Now how do we get our narrow-minded legislators to listen to stuff like this (dare I say it? THE TRUTH?) and proceed with the facts instead of the propaganda stuffed into their ears by the gun-grabbers?

  • Al B. January 12, 2013, 12:56 pm

Thank you for putting together such an informative piece.

  • dacronm January 12, 2013, 12:51 pm

Good video. But someone turn the accuser’s finger around and reclaim the narrative: We need a “national discussion” on BO’s buddy who blows things up and kills innocent people (Bill Ayers)–who is rewarded with a career in our “higher-education” (read: brainwashing) institution; a “national discussion” about our gov. involved in gun-running to Mexico, murders with those guns—and this prez–BO–covering it up; a “national discussion” about gov-directed terrorism as a form of intimidation, brainwashing, social-manipulation; a “national-discussion” about a domestic terrorist who is intimately involved with the political advancement of BO as prez—and vice-versa: about a prez who is intimately associated (kindred spirits) with a Bill Ayers who has no problem murdering US citizens, and only regrets not being able to murder more. I wish someone in a public position would take control of the narrative on the talk-shows and floors of Congress.

  • Kris January 12, 2013, 12:17 pm

Thank you. This needs to be shared with our political representatives!

  • val s January 12, 2013, 11:55 am

Some of the worst criminals in the last 50 years in the USA did not use guns. Charles Manson, Richard Speck, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffry Dahmer, so it most certainly appears the violence outside of gangs,is caused by mentally unstable persons. The emptying and closing of state mental institutions may have been very humane, but not replacing it with excellent mental health care facilities may have hurt more innocents then guns. Whenever our gov’t is faced with a real problem a screen is placed over us by the media to turn attention away from what really matters. USA citizens and media should not be talking about gun control. We should be attending to real issues i.e our overspending on ridiculous projects, money that could be use to help people with mental health problems. It appears to me that if the budget allows $11 million per yr to cover the Congress pay
raises, that money could be better spent helping the inner schools and neighborhoods. Access to excellent
education and health care would be a better discussion than gun control. The federal budget the state budget much more concerting than gun control. Why when we have so many more pressing issues to keep America free
we are always talking about gun control. Gun ownership is ours. the gov’t should stop talking guns and start focusing on fixing the problems.

Well said and I don’t give a shit about the way you look. I have looked down the barrel of enough ak’s and sks’s in my life and it was the person behind the gun that wanted to kill me NOT THE GUN and I was quicker thinking that is why I am still here. If everyone would contact their congress person , representive , senators and join the fight with NRA to see our side as a law abiding citizen , we might over rule this hoax.

  • Mike January 12, 2013, 10:51 am

We all know that they will twist this around and say this is just racist propaganda. But we all know that if you take black on black inner city crime out of the picture our rate would be very low.

  • DaveyJones January 12, 2013, 10:47 am

Very good, take that Pierced Organ (Piers Morgan)!
More intellectual and factual commentary from Ben Shapiro, Larry Pratt and this guy are what 2nd amendment supporters need to counteract the confiscatory agenda of the ‘Amerikan’ (and British) left.

One significant potential flaw in violent crime statistical comparison argument….do the UK and US define violent crime substantially the same way? If the UK includes a good ole “arse grabbing” as a violent crime then the statistical comparison is meaningless.

  • dg January 12, 2013, 10:07 am

no one has taken credit for decreased violent crime rates in us, but it is CAMERA monitoring and DNA testing that has changed the game considerably. Certainly far fewer guns and competent users of guns are around than 25 years ago.
That said, the deterrent that gun availability provides is impossible to measure. No one wants to try breaking into a house around here, as it is likely someone will get shot.
I am still amazed that people want to keep large capacity military arms available, as it puts the legal concealed weapon carrier at a fatal disadvantage. It also puts the homeowner with a shotgun at a disadvantage.
What is the point in it except to emulate unrealisic violent video games in the imagination of fear and scarcity?

  • Andy January 12, 2013, 9:57 am

Great job….Thanks for putting in the effort. Just goes to show many politicians are not concerned with facts, only an agenda. Interesting note, all members of the House and Senate, the President and the Military take an oath to defend the Constitution. Not their Party or any special interest group.
From the research I have done on the internet over 25% of the murders (gun related or other) occured in 15 cities during 2012. Why don’t we get info like this on the “News”. Possibly an agenda on the part of network owners????
Even on the “conservative” FOX network Hunt was claiming the AR-15 used exploding bullets and had a range of 3000 yards.
Anyway, thanks again for the good work!

  • hmk January 12, 2013, 9:57 am

I agree with all of what he said but the ending statement about trying to change the behavior of the inner city residents is not possible. The graduation rate in the Detroit, Flint, Pontiac area is less than 20%. I am sure this statistic is applicable nationally as well. They are not underfunded. This is a cultural issue and as long as the government continues to support those who refuse to support themselves nothing will change. The other problem is drugs. Although it may be considered immoral but legalization of all drugs would greatly reduce crime and the money spent to combat it.

    • LexingtonNC January 24, 2013, 12:31 am

For a while I was mentoring a young Detroit “graduate”. What a joke. Even the 20% number is inflated. I would not have gotten out of 7th grade with his reading and math skills. When it came to computers, I had to show him how to use a mouse and navigate to a web site so he could fill in a job application for Subway.

So long as the education system remains borked, drugs will continue to be a valid and viable career choice. And that, I think, is deliberate.

  • Bill January 12, 2013, 9:53 am

One naive error in his statement about the FBI crime statistics; it does reflect an agenda. Janet Reno felt that several data points needed “adjusting” and ordered perversions to the truth. For instance, Hispanics were “brown” when they were victims but “white” when they were the criminals. There were numerous double standards like this to “even” the stats. Unfortunately for her it didn’t make a dent in the racial stereotypes.

  • Wonderbug January 12, 2013, 9:47 am

The argument is overly-simplified and does not discuss the many factors involved in gun crime. In the UK, guns have been weeded out of the society over the past century, so other weapons are used. It boils down in my estimation to a nation’s moral values as a whole, as well as economic status. In the electronic and film media in this country, graphic violence using guns is glorified and jammed down our throats (especially youth) at every turn. The youth become desensitized to violence and accept it, re Columbine and other schools. The purpose of the 2nd Amendment and the private ownership of guns is to deter foreign invasion and a repressive government, as well as provide for personal security. In those countries without the Right of gun ownership, the people are at the mercy of violence, as Poland and Lithuania found out in WWII and other countries since. Millions of defenseless peoples were killed by those with guns. To ban privately held guns is to eliminate our collective and individual self-defense, and is “throwing out the baby with the bath water.” In my opinion, politicians and others who advocate banning guns are enemies of the People,. PS: Statistics say what you want them to say.

  • RonBeau January 12, 2013, 9:36 am

Right on, brother. The truth is the truth. Washington and the media live by the disgusting mantra “Perception is Reality”. This is how everything gets twisted. They have made ourselves so twisted by deceit. The Bible says a three strand rope is not easily broken. Stick to the truth and “it shall make you free”. Thanx for standin’ tall and straight!!

rights away. This is just the beginning.

  • Silver bullet January 12, 2013, 2:03 am

They all know about the statistics, but it won’t stop or deter there agenda, they think no guns is the only answer. Most of the nay Sayers don’t even know history that’s why history always repeats itself, you can not educate people who only follow. When people live through a tragedy they try to destroy the cause without thinking things over, these statistics prove we are on the right path we must try to educate those who only listen to the bad things. It’s never easy to get people to see that a responsible gun owner is more likely to help save them than harm them, the media always slants tragedy as being the guns fault , most of them don’t know one gun from another or real from toy. Even some of our police don’t know let alone politicians, and when you have a president who isn’t even a citizen what more do you expect. How did they let that happen media again wash it away , my point they only know what there told ,don’t investigate just take what your told as gospel they wouldn’t lie……….. Would they

Thanks for the first times in this case the truth going to reveal the intention of the regular “yellow press” media. Looks like someone try to impose his power against of the most important aspect in our lives. The politicians you mentioned don’t want loose the momentum trying to make decisions of there point of view. Remember the same happened in the past in the 90s. This is a good time for us to stand up for the most important part in our lives the BILLS OF RIGHT OUR CONSTITUTION AND THE FREEDOM WE HAVE. And don’t forget that executives orders can go over the constitutional order. There are someone or something behind this and many more people are still interested in take a way our liberties. Remember the Presidente De Mexico and the Scretary of the U. N.

  • Dusty January 12, 2013, 12:34 am

One ‘statistic’ he did not mention that I saw was that since 1992 there has been a huge increase in the ownership and number of firearms- especially AR platform weapons, yet the crime rate drops…
Firearms are the easy knee-jerk target. Politicians refuse to acknowledge their failures to address gang violence and focus rational, measured attention and solutions to the huge problem of mentally ill individuals not being identified, documented if necessary, and treated. Sometimes they are not ‘victims’… Sometimes we even need to lock them up- I have no apologies for keeping people like like Charles Manson, et al- out of circulation.

  • Frank January 12, 2013, 12:13 am

  • rb January 11, 2013, 11:57 pm

    I need one of them 22cal/rapid-fire, armor-piercing, tank-killer, assualt-weapons. I think there’s a couple left at Wal-mart……

  • Dav1055 January 11, 2013, 11:51 pm

Great job on this video! If the media was not just a mouthpiece for big government this would be broadcasted all over, but it will never be seen by the general public thanks to big brother & their controlling interests. Thank you for posting.

  • rb January 11, 2013, 11:50 pm

The reason nothing is done to reduce/eliminate crime, is Just like how they got the stats skewed. They would have to get off their lazy asses and WORK. WORK is only last resort! It is easier(and safer), to push tons of paper. Those tons of paper, need more and bigger staff. More and bigger staff requires a bigger budget for next year! All this includes govt, police, prisons and the new, “private” prisons that rain money on their cousins out in the boonies.
But sensationalism, the “assault weapon ban” thing is wearing me raw. I wish these assault weapons got a closer scrutiny. Pres Kennedy, was killed with that dangerous, rapid-fire, bolt action Turkish, assault rifle. Robert Kennedy was killed with that 22cal pistol, that fires faster than anyone can count. Dr King was killed with that Win-Dixie, on-sale, Winchester pump, known for spraying thousands of bullets, with one pull of the trigger! And of course, Raw-Hide, was nearly taken from us when another assassin, with one of those 22cal target pistol/assault weapons sprayed hundreds of rounds killing police, FBI, CIA, IRS, BSA, NBA and anyone else in Washington at the time, then penetrating the limo’s armor! My GOD! With these type of “assault weapons” on the street, how will we ever get around to these new, cheap, plastic guns, with their smaller less powerful bullets?

  • Jason January 11, 2013, 11:40 pm

You know, all this hysteria that the government is making about wanting to change laws dealing with the types of guns and high capacity magazines and any other bull crap about the guns laws is just another way for the government to sit around and determine this and that and all they are really doing is wasting money and the time they should be using to fix the things that do need to be fixed and need to concentrated on!!!!! I did t want this to be a long drawn out fuss about these boneheads but they’re is one thing that I can say that can sum up why changing gun laws is that …….”9 out of 10 times, violent crimes or murder are committed by people who are criminals or sick in the head people that have issues that people tend to overlook!!! And someone please let me k ow if I’m wrong and this is all I wanted to get to is….. “CRIMINALS AND THESE SICKOS DO NOT FOLLOW THE DAMN LAWS ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!! So regardless of what law they change, it’s not going to do a bit of good to solve any of these problems by changing a gun law. Leave well enough alone and concentrate on finding ways to curve people’s wants for committing crimes and murder. Criminals and the mentally ill do not care not one way or the other about what laws they break, PERIOD. If you ask me and most other people, the politicians are the biggest crooks anyway. These politicians just need to do their homework and worry about fixing all the other things that a lot of this bullshit comes from. If they want to get rid of something then they need to get rid off these damn videos games that teach our children the how to skills and the ol so seemingless easy killing and the graphic nature of these video games that make hurting and killing someone so easy and how it taints the youths minds on what guns are really for and what they are not used for. A parent is better off signing their child up for the military or telling their children that it is ok to use a gun to hurt or kill someone when they allow their children to play these video games!!!!!!! People are going to do what they want to do regardless of what you do to try an prevent or what law you change and that’s just that!!!! It’s like that now and it’s always been that way and it always will!!!!

  • Julie Wilson January 11, 2013, 11:34 pm

Thank you SO much for sharing and taking the time to research this subject, this was amazing!

  • joe January 11, 2013, 11:34 pm

Not a good vid in my opinion. If the US/UK comparison would’ve been left out, then I think a clear message would be sent that our politicians are failing us. They are failing to educate, employ, empower the people they represent. But they don’t care, they are still making money, getting benefits and securing their future! And taking away our guns makes their agenda and actions even more unquestioned than it is now.

  • Tom January 11, 2013, 11:11 pm

The NRA needs to scream this from the roof tops. They need to run TV spots stating this data.

Very well done and thought out. Thank you for your work.
As someone who grew up on a farm in Tennessee and then served 6 years active duty I was taught a positive, safe respect for gun ownership and use. As a undergraduate student at a very liberal university then medical school student and Psychiatry resident I was exposed to a lot of nonsense academic thinking about guns and gun ownership. luckily, I listened more to my grandfather than to the liberals. We need information, like you have provided, not politicians trying “not to waste a good crisis”.
    Thanks again.

  • HOOCHBEAR January 11, 2013, 10:43 pm

Piers Jones has to be one of the worst of liars.
Then there’s that certain Black commentator that’s always popping up on CNN Name, anyone?
    Pretty bad too.
Some of the lies, distortortions and drivel from these and others are included below:
Please feel free to add any corrections or additional facts and keep passing it on.

Shows fully automatic weapons being fired while discussing semi-automatic.
    hmm The power of suggestion.
Accuses proposed timing of the proposed gun support day (please help with exact title) as in some way anti-Martin Luther King, Jr. because it’s just before the King Holiday. Hey, Congress is headed toward their 2013 session. Does the accuser mean that gun advocates should hold their tongue and give up their free speech because it’s too politically incorrect close to the King Holiday?
Labeling gun ownership advocates as laregely racists that dont even think a minority (Black) should be able to own guns.
There, play the race card. Easier than a game of ’21. Just turn the card over!
Labeling firearms they’re opposed to as “assault weapon style.”
Just what is assault weapon style? This is, put simply , style over substance.
More from Piers, Diane Feinstein, and company:
Calls a guest “stupid” because he doesnt agree with host (Piers).
Claiming that ‘a semi-automatic can shoot 8 rounds per second.’
hmmm. 480 rounds per minute cyclic rate of fire?
sounds more like fully automatic to me.
Can anyone help me with realistic rates of fire of semi-automatic rifles?
Claiming that a magazine can be obtained that will hold ‘100 bullets.”
Not exactly the most easily portable or aimable weapon, eh? Try for an ammo can of around 250.
Showing some of the most virulent of pro gun extremists (You gotta join the NRA today!!!) while discussing issues.
Disparagement of anyone who opposes their anti-gun sentiments as a ‘gun nut’,
Using a statement from the Sandy Hook killings that is highly suspect:
(He) lined up them (victims) against the wall and shot them.
Trying to equate the actions of one madman with legal guns owners, and tied in to the St Valentines Day Massacre ( a Gangland execution in Chicago during Prohibition).
Or Nazi or Stalin’s death squads of WWII?
To tell you the truth, I was so put off by the crap from Piers, and others, I cut the tv off.

  • CJ January 11, 2013, 10:20 pm

There is a real problem coming in this country and we as gun owners have to get the word out there as best we can. Thanks again Wayne! • Vance January 11, 2013, 9:52 pm

In addition to your current forum, you should consider a presentation that I can send my non-gun owning friends to so that they can watch the message. Quite honestly, if you deliver this message surrounded by adds for high capacity magazines and assault rifles, you will not be successful in persuading the audience that needs to be convinced. I am a teacher and I am not surprised by your data. It actually supports what I would have considered common sense. However what I have found after moving from a rural area where almost everyone was a gun owner to a more metropolitan area where people who do not own guns feel that only “bad” people and “ignorant rednecks” own multiple guns, is that the best way to persuade them is to invite them to the range and give them some first hand experience. Many of the people I work around are afraid of holding a gun and seeing your video while it is surrounded assault/military paraphernalia would distract them to the point where they would not hear what you had to say.

Great job and we need more like this flooding the media to the point they can not over look it or discount it any more! I have personally e mailed this to every one in my contacts book bit for and against privet gun ownership! I suggest all do the same.

  • Cicero the Federalist January 11, 2013, 9:08 pm

This fella is worth listening to. I’ve talked to many people about the ACCURATE use of statistics, which no one seems to want to do in the gun control arena. If Biden/Feinstein and Company want to cite me some dead on, accurate, oranges-for-oranges statistics that back their assault weapons ban, I will gladly listen. But, alas, they have none. Di Fi has spend one year “studying” the issue. Listen to this guy for 2 minutes and he’ll set you straight, Di. One thing I like less than mass murderers, and that’s political zealots….

  • Dale January 11, 2013, 9:07 pm

Use this against the public bufoons
One Amendment fallen, whose is next? The Constitution is no longer threatened; it has already been attacked and altered! Not by foriegn terrorists either, but by our very own public officials! The motive? Self-preservation and insulation from accountability for their transgressions, and their accountability to you! I’m pretty sure that illegally and subversively AMENDING the Constitution is a treasonous act.

How best to reverse, restore, and use:

In the 5th Amendment of the Constitution, there are two powers of the Grand Jury. One is controlled by the Prosecutors commonly known as an Indictment. The other is specificaly for the People’s use, such as against public corruption involving anyone of the Three Branches (legislatures, judges, and prosecutors, etc.). This is known as a Presentment Grand Jury. In fact, it is referred to as the Fourth Branch. It is the safety line when the check and balance

Since the 1940s, the latter power has been covertly suppressed and unavailable to the public. Here is how:

    http://www.newswithviews.com/Stang/alan195.htm

    And;

    http://www.constitution.org/lrev/roots/runaway.htm

Even the federal statue Title 18 section 1504, which is a pretense at accessing the grand jury, was proven a deception by myself, for everyone, all the way up to and before the Third Circuit COA (opposed by the USAO) There is an actual brief so you might want to read it later, and accept for now that the Courts won’t allow the public access to a grand jury in order to present evidence of wrongdoing. Maybe because it might mention a Judge or two?

This tool is imperative when Government can’t and won’t police itself, and when it becomes too powerful to be affected by voting or elections.

Our president is trying to USE the tragic shootings at schools and shopping areas to create a “mob” mentality to gut our rights a given by the second admendment, our media is so leftist in it’s views, that it will fudge or create totally inaccurate numbers. Shame on you mr. president for using the deaths of children to fit your agenda ,,, more lies.

The gun control and control freak socialists in general, would have us all looking .smelling . and worst of all
thinking like Obama Fienstien and Moore, handing over ,our over taxed income, spending our time sitting
at sidewalk cafes, nibbling asparagus and sipping alcoholic beverages to deaden our sense of boredom. Freedom and individuallity is what makes America Great ! Private gun ownership keeps it safe !
I grew up watching violence on TV, from Bugs Bunny to John Wayne westerns , many a day I spent playing
gun related games with my friends, BANG BANG i gotcha yer dead ! Now and for the past 30 + years kids go to school with keys around their necks, because Mom n Pop are both working to just pay the taxes,so the kids are left to be brought up by video screens, and no parents to teach em right from wrong. seems clear to me the root of any violence problems is” out of control tax and spend Government” It has taken parents out of the family photo, Stand strong My friends, and do more than just talk, invest, your time and money NOW.

I believe the solution for reducing Violent Crime is much simpler than raising the income levels or Employment rates in Our Cities of 250,000 or larger Populations. By eliminating the possibility of making money by selling Drugs, We would not only stop the Violence that is generated by the Massive amounts of Money that Drug Dealing makes possible, We would take away the Main reason that tempts Good People to go Bad. We could, almost immediately, identify Every Drug user in this Country and therefore be in a position to Help them find a Better way to Live. Our Government would never again have to waste precious resources, Welfare, Food Stamps, Housing, on those who have NO intention of EVER working or providing for their Families. Narco Terrorism would disappear overnight and the Crimminals that bring Mexico and South Americas Poisons across Our Borders every day would suddenly have to find Real Jobs to Live. We would no longer need these Mega-Corporation sized Police Forces, many of whom have become Fortune 500 Companies from the “War on Drugs” We would Finally WIN the War on Drugs if NOBODY could make a dollar off of them and Our Crushing National Debt would shrink so fast that We could Retire many of the Lawmakers that have spent Their Lives ensuring that the Gravy Train “Drug War” would NEVER end. We, the Good People of America have been Terribly Tricked by the Very Politicians We Elected to make Our Country Stronger. Our Doctors are so Afraid of the DEA that They refuse to write Prescriptions for “Schedule” Drugs that could help Many People while the Drug Dealers aren’t Frightened in the Least and they make so much more Money in a Month than a Surgeon could make in Their entire Lifetime. It makes You wonder how there could be any Honest People left on Earth but We KNOW there are Many because they are the People that are funding this Corrupt bunch of Ego Maniacs that make the Laws and tell Us How We are going to Live while they Totally Ignore those Laws and get “Taken Care Of” for Life! Can You Smell what They are Spreading?
It’s Not the American Dream because that’s been reserved for those Lucky Few in Washington, the Worlds Richest Monopoly… Our Government.

The whole problem is that the media harnesses the news as a commodity!
There are no facts just embellishment after embellishment to produce ratings and advertisement revanue.

Your video is well put and a great example of common sense. I concur.
But, what needs to be brought to light is the fact that our society’s honor, character, and regard for others has become so diminished that there are new threats that must be addressed! Like school shootings!

The point is that if our policy makers can safeguard Fort Knox and the president with no loss of our liberty why can’t they protect our children with the same logic.

One question. How many psychos attack hard targets protected by the good guys with GUNS!!!?
Not enough to form a statistic.

  • Mike January 11, 2013, 8:35 pm

It’s been repeated numerous times and this excellent video reinforces the concept that gun control is about control and not about crime or loss of life. Is not the City of Chicago a perfect example of the failure of Draconian gun laws? The sheep think they’re worried about the wolves now, wait until they do away with all the sheepdogs.

One of the first things Hitler did was take the peoples guns
That way they could not defend themselves from his army.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
    I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
    I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
    I remained silent;
    I wasn’t a Jew.
    When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

The British Isles have more per capita violent crime.
They have fewer per capita homicides–because they have fewer guns.

They hit each other with bottles, cut each other up with knives, etc.
In their case, fewer guns equal fewer murders.

We need to listen very carefully to the speaker,
because he’s playing with the statistics.

Go into debate with his analysis, and you’re going to lose.

    • Tom stanfa January 13, 2013, 11:41 am

Just like our “Government” does. You don’t think our “Government” does the same thing. Do you really think they are being honest with us about problems? Wake up, they can’t even do the job they were “elected’ to do. The only thing this group of politicians have in agreement is to give themselves raises and how to get 100% paid pensions for themselves. Did you ever sit down and check to see how often these elected officials are ever in Washington to do the jobs they were elected to do? With attitudes like yours is why we have people like this in office.Where do you keep your “crystal ball” that lets you be privy to fewer murders equal fewer guns? I guess you didn’t read about the father who poured gasoline over his two kids and burned them alive.

      • HBC January 13, 2013, 7:27 pm

Tom, your complaining about our politicians mis-serving the country is WILDLY beside the point I’m making.
I’m saying our speaker here is messing with the very numbers he’s given us. If we don’t like the mis-statements
of politicians, we surely don’t want “gun advocates” handing us honest gun owners the same scams.
We ought to have our act together on what precisely the numbers out there mean.
Take your nitroglycerin pills and charge on if you wish, though; it’s temporarily a free country.

    • Ron Chritian January 19, 2013, 11:36 am

I agree that there is a hole in the stats from Britain, because the British government does not want that information out there. I think this guy acknowledged that hole. If we want to play the “compare the countries” game, what about those countries such as Switzerland where most of the citizens own fully automatic rifles, and their violent crime, with firearms, is almost non-existent compared to ours? The SAME DAY of the Newtown shootings, a man walked into a school in China and killed about the same number of children, with a knife. That was the news on the radio that morning when I woke up. But, we are talking about OUR country and the undeniable decrease in crime of almost all types, including murders with guns, since the last gun ban expired. The is no way any thinking person can look at the objectively collected data and claim that a gun ban is going to reduce gun crime. The evidence completely disproves it. But, it will make the wanna-be tyrants in Washington feel safer, and I am referring to ALL of them.

  • John Caparell January 11, 2013, 8:07 pm

This is not about gun violence or safety it is about political agendas. The target specifically is the NRA one of the most powerful lobbyist groups in America. The NRA put’s fear into politicians namely democrats and they now want to minimize the political power of the NRA. All the stats do not amount to a hill of beans it’s about political power and influence. California now has a complete majority of democrats and they aim to bring forth even more draconian legislation. They do so in a manner that will not provide the NRA with the meat and potatoes for a Supreme Court case to unequivocally bolster the Second Amendment. In any event nice video I really appreciate Guns America being pro active to protect our rights Brownells, MidwayUSA, Bass ProShops etc… all have come together sales agenda aside to help the cause. You will all have my continued patronage.

ALL rifles last year accounted for less than 300 murders, and the AR makes up just a small percent of that, yet the media is handing out fear of AR, by the shovel full. It would appear to me that some entity wants us disarmed, which would make Al Qaeda very, very happy.

  • Gerald Stephens January 11, 2013, 7:55 pm

A very welcome start to a healthy investigation of statistical data. We should all be encouraged to study more and encourage professional studies that analyze this for the purpose of finding solutions. My friends and I do not understand the agenda of lawmakers. None of them make sense. There is no connection between high cap and murder rate. In fact the more likely culprit is probably born out in statistics with 22 rimfire ammo and small revolvers playing a substantial part so why not attack them? Any way this discussion is a breath of fresh air and I look forward to hearing more. Less violence all around, more education and thoughtful analysis.

  • DB January 11, 2013, 7:52 pm

Outstanding! Should also compare the number of guns in law abiding citizens hands from 1992 to 2011. Would further explain that more guns does NOT equal higher crime. In fact, quite the opposite is true.

I don’t believe that the FBI Annual Report includes misdemeanors, which are, of course, the vast majority of
violent crimes. Am I right? Does the UK Home Office count misdemeanor violent crimes in the cited statistics?

    • Jimbo January 12, 2013, 9:49 am

Sir. As said previously, most violent crime in the UK is domestic related, and can include a push or shove, with no actual injury sustained. In can even include verbal threats, with no actual physical action. Whilst I sort of agree that citizens in the US should be allowed to keep their guns, there should be more intense background checks. When you hear that guy talking to Morgan on You Tube, and find out he has around 50 lawfully held weapons, you do wonder how many nut jobs out there have weapons.

      • tappan January 13, 2013, 11:42 pm

Jimbo, start drinking coffee instead of koolaid. You obviously don’t buy guns and get your info from cnn or piers the alien commentator. More intense checks? You already have to go through a national background check for long guns and hand guns. If you have a CCW you went through a more stringent check that includes submitting fingerprints. And the gunshow loophole is so much BS as dealers who sell at shows must go through the same procedures. The oft quoted figure of 40% being individual sales (read private) is pulled out of thin air. Crime guns are traced and are most often stolen. And, SORT OF AGREE CITIZENS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO KEEP THEIR GUNS!
Which socialist country do you belong to? Please return to it and leave us to our God given Constitutional codified rights.

these people whom think the the 2nd ammendment should be taken away, are simply scared people whom sure as hell don’t need to be in control of having our rights taken to keep and bare arms.they don’t realize when they may have a situation as to were in many cases there isn’t anyone to protect their naieve asses.no cops no army no obama care thereto protect them from a dangerous indevidual .where as someone like myself or a tobe hero pops up and save them by taking out the perp or perps by means of dumping a clip into them.there is no perfect world until one reaches heaven .if I didn’t have a gun I would still attemp to save such persons.as risky as that is.if i were not allowed as a legal law bidding citizen to carry.I guarenty the perp will have a gun or any kind of weapon.take away our guns and only the lawless will have them and such violent crimes will become over whelming.and obama does not care.

    • Marie disagree January 12, 2013, 11:50 am

You have given much thought to your presentation. But, I find it very self serving. One idea you gave is that there has been a 50% reduction in the crime rate in U.S. Why do you suppose that is? Could that have anything to do with education????? You say we need more education, i agree, on the danger of guns. Explain your idea for the reduction In crime. Are you suggesting that because people own guns the crime rate has droped? Also this presentation is very anti government. If you don’t like it in the U.S. Move and please take your guns with you. Why does the Rifle Associaton contribute so much money to candidates at election time? If guns are so safe, why do you find it necessaty to control the government with your money. Let’s see, you do need guns because you have to fight off Indians, live on a home stead where there is no police dept., must hunt to provide food for your family, etc. This ammendment was made at a time to meet the needs of the citizens. Perhaps the Rifle Associaton in this time zone could better serve our country by using their money to contribute to the slum areas. You point out the need for increased education programs, and food for the hungry. You are so concerned that most of the crime originates here, then do something about it. If you are so concerned with the slums, why not use all that money donated to candidates by your wealthy supporters, to create jobs. Why not take that money donated to candidates, and use it toward a mental health program!!!!!! Stop giving reasons for ownership of guns. Not all gun owners are collectors. Think without your selfish blinders on. What are gun owners afraid of that they need gun ownership? What are they afraid of when change is considered to controll idots from buying guns. I think we need to fear any extreme. Why the extreme need for some people to feel they must arm themselves? What pleasure is derived from holding a gun. Is it some need to give a false sence of power. This is what scares me. It is interesting also that the people who did mass murder with GUNS were not from the poverty level. Which is where you wish to place the blame. Also gun owners who so aggressively support the ownership of guns all seem to have a very wild look in their eyes. Just an observaton. That also scares me. If the our Government did not keep up with laws that changed the immediate needs of society, we would not have Women voting, no more slavery, minority rights, free education for men and women, etc. Of course no change has every come about without a struggle. There are necessary changes that must be made concerning guns!!!!!! You did much work to defend the right to own guns, now use your intellence to bring about some compromises. Think of the children in the past who have given their lives. It was because of guns, and unstable minds allowed to purchase them. Again, use the large sums of money given for those politicians to support the Ammendment, and give that money to bring about sollutions and changes for all citizens of our present day society. Don’t blame the Government for eveything because it does not agreee with your desire to own guns. Guns are a problem in our socitey. One thing about our Government is that we can bring about change. But the Wheels of progress grind exceedingly slow. How many more mass murders do we need to realize change is necessary. Use your intellegence WISELY. I agree with respondent LAMPROS’s ideas and reasoning.

      • Ronton January 12, 2013, 1:16 pm

        Marie,
I have a number of points that I disagree with you on. Toward the end you say if you don’t like the government here you can move; that works both ways, why don’t you move to England or Wales. Touché! Really though I have traveled the world and I can tell that you are very young, I am not. There were over 50 million un-armed people killed in the 20th century by their governments and students of history will tell you it does repeat itself. Many of those killings have been during my lifetime. You think it could never happen here, wrong!

You think the police could protect you in times of mass riots, to often wrong! Example: In recent years there have been several large scale riots in the U.S. and police were over-whelmed in the first 24 hours and resorted to simply containment operations. Now think of this, what if the computers that disperse funds for Food Stamps and other welfare programs were knocked out, hacked and shut down, hit with solar flares, whatever reason. Within three days riots would break out in some cities. Riots that the police could not contain, because they would be so widespread and massive in the city areas. Sorry dear but a single shot rifle won’t work when they start out of the city looking for food and whatever they want. Look at the widespread looting after the hurricane in Louisiana just a few years past. They even had cops looting. Who you gonna call now?

Even the darling of the left Michael Moore has come out with a video saying it’s not the guns in these mass killings. I’ll explain why I agree with him on this one issue. When I was young and one of us got a new rifle we could take it to school and the shop teacher would show us how to drill, tap and mount the scope. We never had this crap going on. So what’s the difference? 2 to 3 students out of every 10 weren’t on anti-depressants. According to Mr, Moore every one of these people who committed these crimes were on anti-depressants. Have you ever been around one of these people when they went off their meds and become violent? He also had a number of Doctors speaking on his film

I think there are more reasons liberals don’t want to consider. Kids went to church on Sundays and believed in heaven and hell. Eternal damnation (burning) scared the hell out of them. The family might even lock you away in an insane asylum. We knew that nearly every house had a gun(s) in them. It was many more times true than today. More than a few WW II vets even had machine guns at home and yes it was legal and without registration until 1963. They knew their family would disown them and even turn them in if they got this stupid. Oh yes; we knew we could be hanged, shot or electrocuted if we survived such actions. No humane needle injections, let the punishment fit the crime. These were all great deterrents. Just thinking about it, if I had done something like this my mother would have walked up to me, kissed me, gave me a hug, told me she loved me asked me how I could do such a horrendous thing, turned to walk out and thrown the switch on the wall. You see we understood; you kill mad dogs you can’t cure them!

If you are ever really faced with a massive threat and you are not prepared your final thoughts will be of God and I wish I had a big, multi-shot gun. I hope this never happens to anyone but it happens too often. I even once pulled a gun to help an off-duty police officer who had over a dozen assailents ready to jump him after they recognized him as an officer that had busted a couple of them when he was undercover. He gave me a really big thanks as he climbed into my vehicle and I drove him to safety.

      • Donald Lipary January 12, 2013, 2:39 pm

I’m not a gun owner. I do however believe in freedom. Marie disagree, as to your comment, you have been brain washed. The truth is staring you in the face and you chose to belive the hype.

      • Marvin Gardner January 12, 2013, 2:54 pm

        Marie Disagree,
You need to get a grip and fully understand what is said. You have you opinions like every one else has theirs and that doesn’t make your opinion right. The Second Amendment gives the right to bare arms. Its a persons right to have the feeling of extreme need to arm themselves like its your extreme need to feel that you don’t need to arm yourself. You see the sense of pleasure as you put it as being false, but for many others its a sense of protection. You may live in some Utopia where you don’t have to worry, but a lot of us live in the real world and danger is present all around. You are scared because you allow the media to paint a false picture for you to see and you believe it. This is what has you scared and nothing more.Again, the Second Amendment is what give the right to bare arms which was created by the founding fathers. So it has nothing to do with selfish blinders because you yourself are being selfish yourself by not allowing people to voice their own opinions as was stated at the beginning of the video. What changes do you think will have any affect now? New York has the strictest gun laws in the country and it changed nothing at all. Criminals are still getting guns and killing at will.I don’t know where you picked up any anti-government tones in this video. Maybe you had your one-dimensional blinders on while viewing this video. And if you do your research and look at states that do allow open carry or concealed carry the crime rates are lower.
Lampros, sorry to disappoint you,but if the stats are there, then use them. I am sure that the young man did his homework before presenting his findings and you trying to find flaws and dispute his findings make you sound like some liberal with an agenda. How would you know that every Swiss don’t want to kill people? Have you even been to any of the inner cities in the United States? Or have you Marie disagree? Probably not. The young man is giving ideas just like everyone else. This young man is trying to open the eyes of a great number of people and defend what you and your ilk are trying to take away.Blaming inanimate objects is not the way to solve the problem and also not having enough resources to treat mentally ill people is not solving the problem neither. You and Lampros the professor need to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

      • JD Mak January 12, 2013, 3:04 pm

This has to be, by far, one of the most disjointed, rambling and incoherent arguments for gun control I have ever had the displeasure to read. I am now more stupid for having read it.

      • BuffaloBillie January 12, 2013, 4:27 pm

There is another reason for the population to have guns – to keep us free from the government. The French gave up their guns because their government told them to and the Nazis overran them with hardly a shot being fired. The Nazis caused such dissent in the population that it was neighbor against neighbor and the Germans had no guns either.

Comrade Obama has his new group of “brown shirts” who have automatic rifles, hollow-point bullets and armored vehicles with gun slots – just like those on the Brinks truck. Supposedly, their purpose is to assist in disasters yet none of them are in evidence in New York and New Jersey.

If guns are not necessary, why do the schools in D.C. have guards – with guns? The school the Obama children go to has guards with guns. Everywhere any of the Obama, Biden and other government higher-ups have Secret Service all over them. Get your head out of the sand because when it is, your hiney is ready to be kicked.

      • Rob January 12, 2013, 6:06 pm

I support your right to have an opinion and be heard. That is the beauty of the First Amendment, and I will fight to the death for your right to hold and convey that opinion.

However, your clearly sarcastic implications that the Second Amendment is there because “Let’s see, you do need guns because you have to fight off Indians, live on a home stead where there is no police dept., must hunt to provide food for your family, etc. This ammendment (sic) was made at a time to meet the needs of the citizens.” is mostly incorrect (but certainly nicely parrots the sound bites in the news). The Second Amendment was adopted by the framers to ensure that our government cannot be tyrannical and suppress citizens. So, in part, your are correct when you state that the Second Amendment “was made at a time to meet the needs of the citizens.” And, just as it was true then, it is true now that the Second Amendment is there “to meet the needs of the citizens.”

Fortunately, those with guns have the ability to fight to the death protecting and defending your right to voice your opinion, as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Marie disagree, when the constitution was written the people were as well armed as the military. The rifles that won freedom from England and formed this great nation were employed by the average citizen. I respect your desire to live in a world free from any violence and even guns. However the framers of this nation and the constitution ensured that we would all be free from possible repression of our government. History is filled with examples of governments that turned on their citizens. The “Second Amendment” is not simply about self-defense or hunting. It is the right of the “People” to keep and bear arms to protect themselves from the possibility of a government that turns on them in addition the right of self defense from so-called fellow citizens, hunting is a non-issue with the “Second Amendment”. I as a Black American am angry with the left and citizens like yourself, more than 50 years of failed policies have not lifted Black people out of poverty, low graduation rates from high school and college. Empowerment is the answer, but the left has a hidden agenda. They carry Black people to the polls on voting day smiling and rooting them on then they don’t even look in their direction until it’s time to vote again, can’t even remember any minorities names until they need their vote. Young Blacks, Latinos, Asians and White kids (Young People from all over the country of every race)too are killing each other everyday, but you are not outraged about that. I hope Lanza is sitting on a log about to be cast into the hottest place in hell. Wayne LaPierre, Piers Morgan, Alex Jones and Al Sharpton all agree it was a heinous, ugly, terrible act. But now the agenda comes, to use such a terrible thing to act against the rights of citizens. Where is your outrage everyday you Lefties over the violence in the inner cities, or the city where our President hails from has one of the highest murder rates in the country. It’s because the agenda and leadership from the left does not give our children hope. Again I say, you wanna talk about mass murders but you don’t say a thing about the violence that occurs everyday. Chicago is a shining example of the failed leadership of the left. But I digress. The “Second Amendment” states:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

The writings of James Madison (remember him?) and George Washington (remember him too?) without having to interpret clearly state when looking at other declarations of rights from the time shows “the people,” being used in conjunction with the enumeration of individual rights. Milita is defined as the “People”. I am sure some anti-gun activist will wrestle that amendment to imply militia is the National Guard. But that is not what it says. The right of the “People” to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The Anti-Gun agendists (I made up that word) want to use a despicable evil act to do what they have wanted for years. To infringe upon my right to keep and bear arms. If you want to discuss how to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill I’ll have that discussion with you. But who made you a judge of who’s an “Idiot”, you obviously judge gun owners as undesirables. Now before you go judging me too as some crazy redneck who don’t want to give up his guns. I’m Black, in my 50’s (a Cold War baby), a former Marine and a believer in the constitution that gives you the right to feel the way you feel about guns. But don’t infringe on my rights. ( I apologize to all my “Redneck” friends, “Redneck” does not mean Racist. Racist meas racist, Redneck means Redneck). Thanks to the maker of the video. Nicely done and a fine response to the ramblings and twisting of facts and information the media has been doing for weeks. This is the moment they have been waiting for. Shame on them.

Marie, Marie, for 1, guns are one of the reasons why you have the freedom you do today and 2, I bet if someone was to kick your door down while you or you and your family was home and done something bad to you or a loved one and they outcome could or would have been different if you could have had something to protect you or your family, I’d be willing to bet you would change your mind about gun ownership and you owning a gun yourself. And you want to talk about wasting money, these politicians are wasting money by even trying to change these gun laws when it isn’t going to make a damn bit of difference if they do make changes because the kinds of people and the criminals that do these crimes DON’T FOLLOW LAWS ANYWAYS!!!! So why waste tax payers time and money by sitting around and coming up with this and that when its not going to change what these type of people do. And yes it is truly a shame that kids and innocent peoe have to go through these tragic things because of these types of idiots but if its not guns, it would be something else they would use to do these evil things! Truth is something’s we just can’t change!!!!! You can only hope and pray!!!!!!

THE ARGUMENT THAT THE 2ND AMENDMENT IS AN OLD AND ARCHAIC PIECE OF CONSTITUTIONAL LAW AND THEREFORE NO LONGER NEEDED IS AN INVALID ONE. THE INTEND OF THIS AMENDMENT IS TO DISCOURAGE THE INTENTION OF BAD AND EVIL PERSON OR PARTY. SO, TO FOLLOW THE NOTION THAT IT IS NO LONGER NEEDED IS ACTUALLY SAYING THAT IT IS SO BECAUSE PEOPLE TODAY ARE NOW PERFECTLY GOOD AND INCORRUPTIBLE. THIS, OF COURSE, IS ABSURD!

You better pull your head out of the south end of your body. Do you think the US is the only country in this world that produces guns of any kind?? Do you really believe that an arms dealer from another country doesn’t come to this country to sell weapons with high capacity clips to law-abiding upstanding US citizens?
What makes you my guardian to deny me what the first logical Government this country had gave? Yes your right it was written long ago, just like Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, are these antiquated also that they should be taken away also?? You really ought to read what Thomas Jefferson wrote about the fallicay of Government getting involved in trying to change what the Constitution was written for. Your naivety is precious but useless when it comes to the Constitution and being antiquated. You better grow up fast before you find yourself asking the government if you can have children and what church you can attend.

Your suggestion that if we don’t like America we should leave. You are the one wanting to change America into something it wasn’t intended to be. You are the one who doesn’t like America. My suggestion to you, pick from all the countries in the world that aren’t like America and move. Your choices are numerous.

“What pleasure is derived from holding a gun. Is it some need to give a false sence of power.”

No, it is to have a real sense of security. It is because I love my wife and do not want to stand by helplessly as she is injured, raped, killed … or all three. It is because I think it better that the government fear me than that I should fear them. It is so I can walk along the highway after my car breaks down on a lonely stretch of road (and North Carolina has miles and miles of pavement like that) and live to see the lights of home again.

As a Marine, my son put his life on the line in defense of me, you and the American Constitution. Should I be willing to do any less? What makes your life or mine worth any less than his?

He has two children now — a boy and a girl. I think that they should have a chance to grow up as a free man and a free woman and not have to wear some tyrant’s yoke. That means that men such as those who frequent these pages may have to shoulder arms someday … many of us for the second or third time. It may mean that we must fight even knowing that we will not live to see the dawn. But, maybe our grandchildren will.

Marie, I want to share a little something with you. If ever you are tempted to stop a rapist by throwing up or claiming to be pregnant or on your cycle … like the gun control crowd suggest … the monsters who rape will simply cut your throat and continue the rape. You weren’t going to cooperate anyways.

Yeah, that’s harsh. Reality can be like that at times.

It was never about passion. It was always and only about domination and control. And when you die, the domination and control is complete. On the other hand, if you try to stop the rape by pointing a pistol at the demon, there is a very real chance that he will break off the attack … if not before you pull the trigger, then after. Nothing breaks a rapists focus quite like a few bullet holes focused on the middle of his chest.

Marie, I don’t care where you live; you are not safe from these monsters … and never will be … until you take responsibility for your own safety. I may not be around when you need me and it is almost 100% certain that a policeman won’t be. You’re on your own.

Get a pistol. Train for the worst while hoping for the best. We aren’t looking for a false sense of power: we have the real thing.

What do you suppose would happen if all of sudden the Government started to attack the amendment on “Freedom of relighion”. Would those liberals stand up and fight or let them continue the attack? How many people end up in the hospital pregnant and won’t let doctors do an operation to save a baby because they say it is un-natural and interfering with God’s will? Nobody questions their sanity or fights for the baby to live.

  • Benjamin Weber January 11, 2013, 5:06 pm

There’s another important difference between US murder rates listed by the FBI and those listed in the UK. Joyce Lee Malcom points this out in her article “Gun Control’s Twisted Outcome”. (You can find it on the web and it’s well worth reading.)

In the US the FBI stats list all homicides as murders regardless of whether they are prosecuted, deemed self defense, manslaughter, etc. In the UK the police track each case and remove it from the books if it isn’t prosecuted as a murder.

I’m betting that if we did that our numbers would be similar, possibly even lower.

    • D. H. January 11, 2013, 8:31 pm

I had absolutely no idea that this was the way the two sets of stats differed. This needs to be highlighted in any differential discussion of the violent death stats between the two countries. Thank You!

If they pin pointed the problem areas of violent crime it would cause racial tensions. That is one of, if not the major reason they have to blame firearms as the culprits. The lack of mental health laws in this country shows how sensitive they are to people in general. There are likely millions of people at the edge of violent break downs like Adam Lanza in this country, yet they want to focus on the firearm which is the political scap goat this country loves to use. The focus needs to be on metal health evaluations and encarcerations for those mentally unstable and have displayed violent tendencies either by actions of verbally. 72 hours and release does absolutly nothing.

    • Bill January 12, 2013, 10:03 am

Great point about the way the FBI keeps statistics. However, apologetic liberals have taken “ownership” of minorities, esp blacks and do not want them castigated as the primary problem. They already have them controlled through equal opportunity and entitlements, so it’s no problem for them to take guns away from them.

  • Jack Kane January 11, 2013, 4:09 pm

This video needs to be sent to our Congressional leaders, Senators, FOX News, CNN and radio talk shows that aren’t afraid to say what’s on their minds. Keep these educational videos coming and write your legislators. The clock is ticking America.

    • Thomas E. Gunn January 11, 2013, 10:09 pm

Sending this to our “leaders” in congress is of absolutely no use. Congress, and the rest of our corrupt government already knows all of this. Reducing violent crime is NOT on their agenda…….the opposite is what they seek. They are interested in RULING, not leading. And in order to be RULERS, they require a fearful and dependent population, that BELIEVES that a big and powerful government is required to protect us. The middle-class and poor in this country, are already RULED by FEAR. For that reason, our own government incites, enflames, enables, and encourages the US population to be more violent and not less…..to increase unemployement rather than reduce it……to increase poverty and debt rather than reduce it…….to further dependency, rather then encourage a culture of self-reliance and character. Our government has long-since run amock, and they are destroying this country from within. That is their mandate and that is their aim. Both political parties are in collusion to this end; and our political and elections system is a fraud…..perpetuated to provide the American Sheep with the illusion that we have a choice….that we actually “elect” our public officials. We Don’t….. We are already Slaves….. Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.

      • Blank January 13, 2013, 5:18 am

No, we have no one but ourselves to blame. True, our government officials may be very aware of all these things, but they do not focus on them because we, their constituents, generally only care about whatever new hot button topic presented sensationalized media. They rely on us to keep them in office, so they focus on what we focus on. It’s not their fault that we are incapable of being anything but reactionary.

        • Dan S February 23, 2013, 6:53 pm

I disagree with the idea that sending this to our leaders in congress is of no use. It appears that most of our leaders in Congress do not really understand what is going on. Otherwise we would not be having this discussion!!! Most political agendas are one-sided and bills are designed by particular sponsors and agendas to push through for their political purpose. Including riders on bills. These are then reviewed and then decisions are made. If Congress is provided with bad information, it leads to bad choices and an idiotic bill wins. The reverse is true as well. If an advocacy groups takes particularly statements in this discussion and supports these statements with documented evidence and facts, then Congress will listen and it will stir up a real interest.

The procedure is simple. First, a representative sponsors a bill. The bill is then assigned to a committee for study. If released by the committee, the bill is put on a calendar to be voted on, debated or amended by Congress. If the bill passes by simple majority (218 of 435), the bill moves to the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and, if released, it is debated and voted on. Again, a simple majority (51 of 100) passes the bill.

Absolutely, I agree with what you said. Being schooled in the 50’s and 60’s, the agenda was completely different than today’s – big government was not good. Communism and Socialism removes the right to be an individual. That is what the left hates the most. It is very hard to control a diverse population. If all act, talk, think alike (zombies) control is eminent.
I wish libs would understand America is different from all other countries. That’s the way we like it.

  • Lampros January 11, 2013, 10:34 am

I couldn’t agree more with the conclusion of this video. This IS the reason for violent crime. Poverty, lack of education, miserable living conditions, constant insecurity. I also agree that politicians find it easy to please the masses with a “catchy” smackdown on guns. They do, no doubt about it. It’s a lot easier to draft a law than address all these serious and constly issues. The fact that he came to the right conclusions though does not mean that he used the right statistical metrics. He came to the right conclusion despite and not because of the right statistical analysis… I have to say that having lived in England (and France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Greece, etc) and having a PhD in science (hence the constant moving around…) I am dissapointed at the use of statistics here. People who don’t understand statistics should not use it. It is a very useful tool but just like any other scientific tool, it requires mastering it before using it. The fact is that the US does indeed have more GUN related violence and MANY MORE murders commited by the use of guns than any other Western society, period! Of course using this metric to advocate that guns on their own, bring this high violence rate is also aburd! I spent some time colaborating with Swiss scientists and I can assure you that these people had assault rifles (and their father’s rifles…) in their homes! Imagine if everygody in the US had to serve in the military and then kept their weapons at home as part of the National Guard readiness program. EVERYBODY! This is the case with the Swiss and their violent crime rate is so low it’s not worth discussing. Now, if we even try to compare the living standards of the Swiss with our living standards in inner cities that would be even less worthy of discussion. The sence of security, level of education, free and unrestricted access to higher education and health care make any comparisson useless. So, instead of taking unfairly against poor England who’s definition of violent crimes includes throwing rocks, punching someone and keying ones car (hence the disparity with murder rates) and almost non existant rural areas compared to the US (it’s almost a continious metropolitan area) and trying to compare it with ours, is not valid and can lead to false positive errors. Just look at a country flooded with assault rifles where violent crime is almost unknown. The sad truth is that the Swiss can kill anybody they want with their high power assault rifles but they don’t WANT to. Here we “all” (not really but I hope you get the point) want to kill each other even if all we have is a butter knife. It’s just that guns make it a lot easier… Make people NOT want to kill each other and it doens’t matter if they have access to an armory…

that the US has the most gun violence of any modern country…

comparable or higher rates… I would like to get that out more..
      but otherwise… good work..

      • Jimbo January 12, 2013, 9:37 am

Sir. I don’t think you can compare the old Eastern Bloc countries with the Western countries as we used to call them. They are very young countries, and are still getting accustomed to their newfound freedoms. Also most violent crime in the UK is domestic related, and can include a push or shove, with no actual injury sustained.

        • Mark J. January 17, 2013, 7:51 pm

It would be a mistake to call Russia, Ukraine, and Latvia very young countries. And for some reason I think of Poland too. These countries have emerged from Soviet Russian domination all right, and recently. But their history and cultures go back to *before* the Incas and Aztecs.

I don’t know where this would lead us, but should we really not consider ourselves akin to Mexican and South American cultures?

    • 34hacker January 11, 2013, 8:12 pm

You missed one of the main points. Yes, US has a higher gun murder rate but people are going to commit a violent crime whether or not they have a gun. The numbers cited in the video say precisely that. That is why gun bans do not work! Why we have a lesser violent crime rate, I do not know BUT what is clear is availability to guns does not have a direct correlation to someone committing a violent crime.

People want to restrict the 2nd amendment but I haven’t heard one person say “let’s stop illegal search and seizure and start patting down gangbangers and taking illegal guns being carried by them. Now I do not condone bypassing the Bill of Rights, but if Biden suggests that saving one life is worthwhile to suspend the 2nd Amendment, they would be more effective in this pursuit than regulating lawful gun owners.

I suppose I agree with something in your writing, but not much. Firstly, your PhD doesn’t mean a damn thing…let’s face it, PhD’s are telling us there is such a thing as global climate change. I don’t need a PhD to make the absurd prediction that the climate is going to change – it always has, and it always will. Secondly, if I were a PhD of anything, I wouldn’t tell others to stay away from scientific tools you have determined they don’t understand, if I, as a PhD, hadn’t even learned how to spell. Thirdly, unrestricted access to higher education and health care is NOT FREE. Such things are paid for by those of us who work and pay taxes, not by those who derive their living as a parasite sponging off the efforts of others, and most certainly NOT BY GOVERNMENT. Finally, you sound like a typical academic, who, when they don’t have anything insightful to offer prefers to point out the folly of other’s ideas. Please return to your scientific life and save your brilliant writings for the journals that must be clamoring for them. We don’t need anymore know-it-all euros telling us how to do things in AMERIKA!

We are all very impressed with you Phd however, do you yeally expect me to believe that anywhere in europe keying a car is considered a violent crime? Throwing rocks? Maybe at someone’s head. And maybe GUN violence is lower because there are no guns but that is the point! Take away guns and people will use knives, fists, clubs and yes, even throw rocks.

I was reading in the Tribune the other day about a father who put his kids in a tub, poured gasoline over them and lit them on fire. Should we make gasoline ilegal? Should we do a back-ground check on anyone wanting to buy gasoline? You can’t tell me that this was the action of a sane individual. All I’m trying to point out is the fallicy in putting knee-jerk reaction laws on the books that don’t have the tax dollars to enforce. Look at ilegal drugs and how many dependent babies are born in this country. How about the government finding a way to enforce the laws that we have now so the Police don’t have to worry everytime they make an arrest whether or not the criminal arrested is not having his rights violated and gets off on a technicallity. Thank you very much.

      • Martin January 20, 2014, 9:26 am

        Steve,

I don’t know about the whole of Europe, but certainly ‘violent crime’ is defined differently in the UK than it is in the USA. Thus while the stats may be correct as measured, you still have to look at where those stats came from.

In the UK ‘violent crime’ has a much lower threshold, so a wider variety of crimes are recorded as ‘violent crimes’. They do not even have to involve physical arm or damage, but just the threat of it.

This does not invalidate this entire video or its conclusions. I agree that blanket solutions for whole states, or the whole of the United States, are unnecessarily punitive to law-abiding gun owners, and that focusing on the inner-city neighbourhoods and the causes of crime would be far more effective in reducing gun-related and other violent crime.

    • James Schmitt January 12, 2013, 9:11 am

The Washington pol ignores the problem because it’s a racist one. Young “minority” killing young “minority” Not until the mess spills over and young white children are involved does anyone notice.
The Swiss by the way have a national policy quite different than the US. Government service for everyone, male and female, few exceptions. And this requirement is an extended one. It leads to a national mood that is much more respectful of the obligations ofcitizenship.

    • Mycroft January 12, 2013, 4:53 pm

A PhD in “science”? England and Wales has “almost nonexistent rural areas”? I doubt you spent much if any time there as there are large rural areas, and I must say that I’ve never heard someone holding a doctorate describe it using such a broad term as “science”. Strikes me as odd, to say the least. With all of the misspellings, poor grammar, and pointless self-aggrandizement, you don’t come across as being particularly well educated to me.

      • Vicente137 January 12, 2013, 10:44 pm

You don’t know the qualifications of this individual and should stick to the content of the argument. By attacking his grammar and writing you simply fall into several logical fallacies and display a lack of analytical skills. Ad hominem and red herrings to be more specific. First of all, you don’t know if this individual has a command of the language he is writing in. This individual could be a P.h.d from a non-english speaking country, and it is not your role in the argument to attempt to decipher that. Second, you present no argument other than the fact that his grammar and spelling is poor, and finally, you personally attacked him(Ad hominem). This is typically done by the left when presented with facts that are indisputable. People either create straw men, red herrings, or resort to Ad hominem attacks.

        • Don January 13, 2013, 12:25 pm

          Thank you! Well said!

        • Mycroft January 15, 2013, 8:31 pm

He is the one who presented credentials, and I indeed did dispute the claim that rural areas are almost nonexistent in England and Wales. There is no ad hominem if someone proffers credentials to bolster an argument, yet gives evidence leading to suspicions as to veracity. Further, he gave no specifics about what statistics were misused or misapplied. I suggest you continue your studies in logical fallacies, as you haven’t mastered the subject yet.

      • DLastonSr January 12, 2013, 10:47 pm

        Hello Sir,
Reply to your comment about the individual on data about violent crime stats.
I was employed in the mid-eighties in a Biotech Industry in Cambridge, Mass. formed from a joined venture from a number a supporters and MIT individuals.
While employed there I came into contact with a number scientists from other countries whom were highly educated PhD’s, some of whom were post doc’s out of Karana’s lab. A striking view my of the Brits conveyed to me was directly pointed to the US gun policies. Quoted a number of times to me, “ We were just short of barbarians”, and they were quick to point put defects in US policies at a lunch table where down right insulting yet they were taking in the benefits of being here. Many immigrants have come to the US for better opportunities for themselves and their families and there are countless examples of the contributions they have made (They spilled their blood for you). Think hard if that’s possible, where you would be today if US had not intervened in the WWII European campaign.
I am a Vet from a background whose parents came out of the depression father and Uncles who served in WWII one of which who landed and D-Day and was sunk during landing.
I cannot understand living in your country and do not assume to understand the culture first hand, but you are ignorant of many of the people in the US who use guns for competition, sports, target shooting , hunting to name a few. Do you think the average US citizen purchases a gun with the intention of killing someone? Many of my family, brother, myself, and nephews are Vets. Like any other country we have our shortcomings and historical mistakes. The policies of foreign countries and policies is not my reply.
When you insult the author in the manner you have done, I consider your reply insulting, degrading, and most important, if you consider this man beneath your status, maybe you should take a good look in the mirror!
So go ahead and check my English and point out all the errors if that is your function

        • Don January 13, 2013, 12:32 pm

Thank you for your service, it’s people like you who have given me freedom.
          Thank again!!

      • Lampros January 13, 2013, 3:03 pm

        Dear Gentlemen,
Thank you for all your comments, I am sure you are all trying to be as helpful and informative as possible (with the probable exception of [mtman2] a case of a “troll”, I suppose). I define my PhD as one in science in contrast to one in the humanities, literature or other discipline where statistics is either not important or not practiced at such a high level as in science. The particular field of science is irrelevant since in all scientific fields, statistics, mathematical modeling and critical evaluation of results are essential. For your information I have degrees in Electrical Engineering and Biology, MS in Molecular Biology and PhD in Neuroscience. Currently, I am proudly employed at one of the most prestigious institutions in the world and a real academic jewel in the southern US, Vanderbilt University. If anyone even tells you that educated people in the academia cannot be pro gun ownership and this is a “hick” trait, feel free to cite my case. This is one more of those garbage “conclusions” drawn by wishful anti gun ownership thinkers despite and not because of what the data suggest.
One of the first things we learn in introductory courses in statistical hypothesis testing is that if you cannot define the right hypotheses to test in a scientific test and not have access to the “raw” data, DON’T EVEN RUN A TEST. The results of a statistical comparison are only as good as the assumptions tested and the quality of the data used. Meta-analysis of “second hand” data such as these, require analytical tools that were not even closely mentioned or otherwise implied in this video.
My criticism is not an act of “self-aggrandizement” as the respected contributor [Mycroft] suggests. I understand his criticism and confess that upon a second reading of my post, it might have been interpreted as such. That comment was merely a point made against frail arguments that can be overturned by anyone carefully examining the data and can result in very embarrassing situations; no scientist wants to find himself exposed to. Such carelessly drawn conclusions might end up being used AGAINST the argument the video is trying to make, after more careful evaluation of the data used. It is not rare to see such analyses overturned and used against their own authors’ arguments when peer reviewing scientific literature. It would be a real shame to see the otherwise CORRECT conclusions drawn in this video discredited simply because of the use of frail data and “back of the napkin” use of a very difficult analytical tool as statistics.
I humbly regret the grammatical and spelling errors made in my original posting. It is difficult not to make mistakes when writing when you have experiments running, at the same time, which you have to attend to. If you look at the time and date the aforementioned comment was posted, you can see that I was working when at the time.
As far as how rural the English “countryside” is, the comparison was made against the US and it stands. You could walk all the way from Cornwall to the Lake District and never find yourself more than 30 minutes away from a pub (which is great after a whole day’s hiking). Even in the Lake District, it’s difficult to hike for more than an hour before you find yourself in danger of being run over by golf carts. Try doing this in Montana!
In conclusion, my skepticism was and still is that people with very narrow minds about the right of gun ownership but very broad analytical skills can and will attack any not carefully conducted survey of the use of arms in violent crime. I repeat that it would be very regrettable to see the otherwise VALID conclusion of this video torn apart because of the use of wrong metrics. It is essential to make people understand the point I made earlier: If people do not want to kill each other, it makes no difference if you give them access to an entire armory. I never felt like murdering anyone when I walked into a gun shop and don’t think I ever will. Guns are not psychotropic drugs that alter peoples’ minds into a “murder state”. The right of law abiding, sane people to buy and use guns for lawful activities should not be curbed by the incompetence of the government to provide effective mental health treatment (this is one thing we should NOT leave to the private sector since they couldn’t care less for something that provides no profit for huge cost) or proper education and measures to alleviate the everyday stress that could turn us against each other.
I apologize for yet another enormous comment…

        • Mycroft January 15, 2013, 8:45 pm

Fair enough, and presented in a much more cogent manner. I agree that statistics that are collected under different criteria are not comparable. I regard Vanderbilt highly, and know several colleagues in the dermatology department of the medical school there. As for “rural”, it depends upon how one defines it, yes?

    • Phil January 13, 2013, 9:30 am

It doesn’t matter how the violent crime statistic in each nation is defined, the point is a correlation between removing firearms from the populace vs violent crime incidents. Unless the violent crime definitions were magically changed exactly at the same time firearms were removed, this proves the UK violent crime dramatically increased after disarmament in the UK.
The statistics also show violent crime decreasing in the US with the loosening of firearm related controls.
Trying to flumox people with comparisons between the two nations violent crime definitions is irrelevant if the definition of violent crime in each society remained the same in each nation.

    • JJ January 14, 2013, 9:53 am

FYI The act of throwing feathers , water, and spitting in America are all classified in the same way by law enforcement. It’s known as assault and battery – a violent crime and doesn’t involve a gun. So your argument that the video was wrong because there is a difference between England and the US as to “England, who’s definition of violent crimes includes throwing rocks, punching someone and keying ones car…” are no different than the various illegal acts not gun related which are being included in violent crime statistics in the US….sorry your are incorret stating that the video is using distortions of metrics when comparing England and US violent crime statistics. In fact the video goes out of its way to present the demographics and statistical scale differences in light of our much higher urban crime centers and population numbers.

    • Duster January 31, 2013, 1:30 am

The point made in the video regarding the cause of violent crime is not a new one. It has been a very well known correlation since the 1960s. There is an inverse correlation between economic activity and crime. Bull markets create jobs and even the 20-watt incadescent bulbs out there will be able to get reasonable jobs. Bear markets cause jobs to go away. When that happens the dim bulbs get edgy and turn to theft and violent crime. One reality of the prison system is that the vast majority of criminals are geniuses, or much more than marginally intelligent. Smart, or apparently so, criminals are rare, but make better stories. Also,Doc, punching someone and throwing rocks at people are violent crimes even in the US. You are correct about Switzerland though. As regards your PhD in “science,” these days you can get a Ph. D. in political “science,” and you can get one mail order as well, so moving around because of your degree doesn’t say a lot, and what it does say might very well be rather unflattering.

  • Wayne Atchley January 10, 2013, 6:15 pm

This video, well thought out, logical, and factual, is the proper way to approach those who oppose our 2nd Amendment. Alex Jones looked like a violent fool when he spoke to Piers Morgan: he actally harmed our case.

    • Roger January 11, 2013, 4:12 pm

      Wayne,
YOU are absolutely correct. Contrast Jones with Ben Shapiro’s blistering yet calm and factual destruction of Morgan and we see the ‘issue’ facing us clearly. While I am sure Jones meant well and was, perhaps, pandering to gaining members/supporters, he did the cause harm.
Glad I am not the only person who felt that way… be safe!

      • RussellW January 16, 2014, 11:03 pm

        Wayne and Roger,

I think you conclusions are correct and sensible. But … if you want to see the real problem read MIchael Erway’s commends.
p.s. Not all the facts are factual, so becareful.

    • Lampros January 11, 2013, 7:27 pm

I hadn’t seen Alex Jones on Piers Morgan’s show. After I read your comment I watched it on Youtube. The guy is the best advocate for gun control I’ve ever seen! Even I wanted to call the entire Senate and House and ask for total disarmanent, after I saw him acting like a total basketcase, just to make sure this looney would never get his hands on a gun. This “style” (it’s idiocy but let’s for a minute say it’s his style) might be what his fans on the radio are used to, but he has to realise his appearance on TV, represented millions of people who are not this crazy, not his radio show alone. More sober, well informed, reliable people are needed not radical loonies…

    • MIchael Erway January 11, 2013, 7:29 pm

Just how much attention will this video garner from the antis? Absolutely none. Alex Jones blew their little man panties clean off. The time for being nice has passed. It’s merely an excuse to not raise your head up too high. You can cow down and play the fascist’s game. Cowards. A case to make? God makes the case. My right to protect myself is granted by God and reaffirmed by the Constitution. Alex Jones had the guts to break out of the usual scripted CNN “poke the little gun monkey in the cage” one-sided “debate”. Morgan treated Larry Pratt like a piece of garbage. Larry gave it back to him with remaining calm and intelligent. Great tactic. Alex gave that right back to Morgan when he tried to play the calm and peace loving saint of a fascist gun-grabber. Alex upset his applecart. Great tactic. Pull your big girl panties up, boys. See how it feels to be a man. You might like it.

      • Dekanogi Ulogilv January 16, 2013, 8:04 am

Well Said! I believe I, have the SAME “RIGHT”, to protect my home and family, as those out there breaking in peoples homes do, to come harm us. But if you watch T.V., and read the papers, you would not think so. If you actually “harm” someone breaking into your home, YOU, are the one in trouble. Now WHERE, in ANY world, does that make sense?

      • Jack in Florida January 22, 2013, 2:27 am

Michael, you’re right about Larry Pratt, whose calm demeanor made The Brit look pathetic when Morgan said “You really are stupid, aren’t you?” But Jones was off the charts. I didn’t object to what he said; it’s how he said it — lecturing and threatening, finger wagging with cocked eyebrow, shouting …. Most Americans have enough common sense to favor the Second Amendment, but with limits — just like the First Amendment’s limit on not allowing someone to legally yell “fire” in a theater. The Second Amendment needs some reasonable limitations, too, like not allowing crazies to buy guns — and in his interview with Piers Morgan, Alex Jones came across as crazy. Not because of what he said, but rather the radical, angry way he said it.

        • Skip Foss February 5, 2013, 11:52 am

I totally disagree with you on the second amendment with limitations ,What part of “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” don’t you get. There are to be no limits on our right to own what ever weapon we choose ,evenand limited to a rocket launcher, because it limits a well trainded and armed malitia which is actually the only standing army we are to have ,if you read the constitution in whole not just what the polititions pick to use ,the only authorized standing defence other than the states malitias is the US Navy

          • ted miller March 11, 2013, 2:29 pm

I just want to agree to disagree with Skip Foss. I agree that there should not be a limitation as to what you can or can not buy or own. BUT!! DAM!! I sure don’t want my pissed off neighbor owning hand grenades, Rocket launcher’s,C-four,Ect. Please tell me you want some kind of limit on the idiot’s that may want such? I love all my weapon’s I have owned several over the 73 yrs. of my life. I am a licensed gun carrier for year’s.Thank god i have not had to pull it or shoot anyone with it.We do how ever need to keep weapon’s of all kind’s out of the hand’s of dangerous criminal’s if that is possible. I seriously doubt we will ever win that war. But we have to try something for our children’s sake. I might also add LEAVE OUR 2nd.AMENDMENT ALONE.Local ordinance’s may work in your area for certain weapons. And enforce the laws we have already.

          • Steve P January 23, 2014, 7:16 pm

I too must agree to disagree with Skip and Ted, The purpose of the Second Amendment was go guarantee that civilians would not be oppressed by their new federal government, not for personal or family protection. That said, if my neighbor has hand grenades and I HAVE hand grenades, then he will think twice before he throws his. Same for C4, Rocket Launchers, etc. Because if my GOVERNMENT has them, I want them too. We are currently behind the curve when it comes to technology and they (the feds) WANT us that way, so every time they erode your current rights, which are protected by the Second Amendment, not given by the Second, then the oppress us a little more. We have the tail wagging the dog in this country and I agree that it is time to stop playing nice. It isn’t the way the NRA plays, and I won’t either. It may seem “angry” or “extreme” but honestly, our forefathers would have been shooting long before now. I have no problem with the way Alex Jones came at Morgan, I think Morgan, like most Leftist Liberals and gun grabbers, is a jack a _ _. Push back is LONG overdue.

        • airdale February 26, 2013, 2:24 pm

Wayne, Rodger, Jack: Our 2nd ammentment rights have been going down for at least 50yrs. It is time to quit sitting down and kissing a** . It is time to stand up and say what you want, to start protecting your rights. Sitting down and kissing a** has not worked. And it will not. That is just what kind of objection the anticonstitution people love. Stand up and fight for your rights. Cause a problem, get people invloved. Alex Jones is one of our savyours. Jack if you want to limit our constitution then you need to fight to have it changed by legal ammendent not by some Senator or Rep. passing a law. Passing ilegal laws which is done every day is killing your constitutional rights. Wake up!

      • JHK February 11, 2013, 9:45 pm

Well, it certainly makes sense to the Brits, who are putting people in jail for very long periods if they shoot someone in their house robbing them!

    • Bones January 11, 2013, 7:48 pm

Wayne, you are absolutely right,I think the problem lies within the closed minded politicians that are going to make the LAW ABIDING gun owners pay the ultimate price for only one reason,to keep the sheeple following what the unknowing are saying. DAMNIT!!! It is not the law abiding gun owners causing the problems, it is the criminals that will CONTINUE to cause the problems. We have a closed minded government that will do what they want to do. Thanks to the crazies out there the people who OBEY the laws are supposed to have to pay for the crimes of the insane. SCREW THAT S@#T, we can’t take this crap anymore!!

    • Lori January 12, 2013, 6:57 am

Wayne, I couldn’t agree more. Alex’s rant had me shaking my head wondering why he couldn’t contain himself a little more. Calm, fluent, statistical, if only this gentleman had been on with Piers. It reminds me of them trying to legalize marijuana, seems the spokesperson always has to be the biggest pothead at the rally, further cementing the stereotype……what a shame.

    • JJ January 13, 2013, 12:12 pm

      • Dan Burke January 23, 2013, 10:53 pm

You are right about Feinstein but She has the sticky little problem of separation of powers. A state may do (or what it wants with Intra-state commerce. The Federal government has no power in this area. So, no inheritance as a direct federal law cannot happen. The federal government can only control interstate trade. They will back door it by tying federal grants in aid to the state to the state passing laws such as no inheritance, Federal background checks for private sales etc. The federal government has no power in these areas. Congress is fond of using this tactic to enact what is outside of their constitutional power. This supreme court however struck down the use of this tactic with regards to a feature of Obama care. So, even if they pass such stipulations there is still hope with the supreme court finds the feature coercive.

        • Anglo January 22, 2014, 5:08 am

The anti gun cadre could care less as to how reasonable or correct one is when it comes to statestics. The bottom line is that we are dealing with a Communist government, and its unfounded desire for gun control has done nothing other than to expose that desire for control as well as exposing all related 5 th column followers throught the U.S.
As far as states rights go, those lost rights are concerned, the 14 the Amendment has nullified states rights, thus placing the federal government in total control of the states violating the Tenth Amendment.
I believe that the best none combative weapon that gun owners could, should invoke today would be a well organized boycot, a boycot of all states hunting licenses, be it small game, big game, or upland fowel. That would be a first and foremost wake up call for legislatures to pay attention to reclaiming states rights, and demonstrating the fact that gun ownership does have a voice to be reconed with.
The preservation of gun ownership has to start with the states, not with a deaf, none compliant U.S. congress who does not represent the people who put them in office.

Alex Jones did what he had to do. The people that say otherwise are new listeners that think they know everything. If you have watched & listened to Alex over the past 15 years you would know how nice and calm he has been when he has been on mainstream media before. On the issue of 911 they ran him over and censored him. Many times people have wished he took control of the interview. He did this time and with good reason. We don’t have time to play their games anymore, the issue of losing our guns is critical, it is one of the last steps tbe NWO have to take so they gain full control. He has been warning us of this for many years, people like you need to do your research about the NWO agenda, and how the mainstream media is bought and paid for by them. Alex broke through fudther than anyone has ever done. They would have tried to further Morgans’ stance on the issue while demonizing Alex further had Alex not taken control and put out facts.

Hey knuckleheads; It’s even more disheartening to watch the circus from out here!=It’s like watching Alex Jones pointing out all of the coming NWO/GlobalistBankster sponsored(Narco-terrorist&)Police State tyranny that is rapidly infiltrating and destroying our Nation, and you fools, idiots, and petty tyrants, are acting like a bunch of cats – all you can focus on is the finger that Alex is pointing with! Wake the hell up and FOCUS on what is Really going on!

      Wayne,
Couldn’t agree with you more, brother. Alex Jones looked like a raving lunatic. He did a great disservice to those of us in the gun community who simply want to have our voices heard. Like Roger points out, Ben Shapiro’s handling of the situation was far superior in comparison. We need Americans to actually hear the FACTS about guns and more importantly, gun owners. I don’t know, like maybe the fact that MOST gun owners are law-abiding citizens. Many of whom are probably your very friends and neighbors. Guess what, America…good people own assault weapons too, and we don’t go shooting up schools and malls and movie theaters with them. We need to wake up and realize that this is just another excuse to further strip away our civil liberties. Liberties that have already been SIGNIFICANTLY eroded since Oklahoma City and 9/11. Wake up, America, before the guns are gone and there’s nothing left with which to protect what few liberties remain.

I feel that Alex Jones is one of them.
many people may wont to hear that but it is my opinion.

So, since this video what do you think of the status of the education system?? Pretty bad huh? How many teachers and staff were laid off in your community? And to tell you the truth, the people that need to put on their boots and flush out the problems in the inner cities simply do not own any boots!! I love your videos…who the hell are you anyway?? I think you should run for president, I’d vote for you. Thanks for saying what many of us are unprepared to say for ourselves.

Piers is such a babbling idiot who somehow has been given a t.v. show. I think Alex overdoes everything ,BUT mother Teresa would have lost it with Piers.
