Description: Brand new Thunder Five .410 revolver manufactured by MIL, Inc. ( Munitions International Laboratory of Piney Flats, TN ), serial #1211. The Thunder five is the original .410 revolver. I purchased this one new in 1993, and have kept it well oiled in a climate controlled vault ever since. It has never been fired since being in my possession and is in mint condition both cosmetically and mechanically.

For close-range self defence the Thunder Five may be one of the finest weapons ever conceived! Many consider it to be the ultimate "night stand" gun for the following five reasons:

First, when you are suddenly awakened by an intruder and need to react very quickly, the Thunder Five's short barrel allows you to fire a very large shot pattern -- significantly increasing your chances of first hit probability.

Second, the Thunder Five gives you the option of utilizing several variants of an extremely powerful handgun round that is impossible for an ordinary pistol to fire -- .410 shotgun shells (i.e. one could load bird shot .410 shells for the first two rounds, followed by .410 buck shot shells in the next two chambers and load the final chamber with a .410 slug...for longer range shooting the Thunder Five can also fire the potent .45 Long Colt cartridge ). I recently discovered .410 Fleshette rounds !

Third, by loading the Thunder Five with .410 shot shells you are virtually guaranteed not to "over penetrate" your target and there-by avoid the potentially tragic consequences of having projectiles pierce through your walls and strike an innocent party in the next room or possibly the next house. Even if you miss your intended target completely...several layers of sheet rock will typically stop most .410 bird shot fired from the Thunder Five's short barrel.

Forth, unlike many .410 revolvers, the Thunder Five is small and quick to point. It can easily be concealed on the person or tucked into a nightstand. Other .410 revolvers are quite large and unwieldy.

Fifth, obviously, the Thunder Five is a revolver and thus inherently easy to use...no thought required -- just point and pull the trigger.

The Thunder Five's five-shot cylinder chambers both 2.5" and 3.0" .410 shells/slugs and also chambers the venerable .45 Long Colt cartridge. Both the frame and cylinder are made from steel ( I believe the frame is fabricated from light weight - but very strong - 4140 or "Chrome-Molybdenum" steel ). Its features include: Mil-spec parkerized finish on frame, 2.25" barrel, combat style channel sights, comfortable Pachmayr finger-notch rubber grips, Commander style hammer, duo ambidextrous safety levers ( yes, this revolver actually has a safety -- a red dot shows when the safety is disengaged ), wide combat style trigger, angled combat style trigger guard and a unique cylinder release switch ergonomically located under the barrel. It will fire in either a double or single action mode.

As an added ( potential ) bonus, it appears that MIL Inc. is no longer in business and that the Thunder Five is no longer being manufactured. When you do a search on "Thunder Five" the website comes up black with the domain listed as for sale. If the Thunder Five is in fact discontinued from production -- this is certain to become a collectors item.

The Thunder Five was originally shipped in a plastic box ( which was broken when I received it ) with a foam insert. After 15 years the foam turned to dust so threw out the box and purchased a new soft case which is included with the sale.

Shipping to lower 48 is $35.00.
