Between the years of 1878 and 1881 P.Webley & Son was associated with a firearms designer who had a great influence on Webley revolvers. This revolver is stamped with the triangle with Michael Kaufmann's stylized initials, MK. The Kaufmann number "1100" is stamped below this triangle on the right side of the frame just below the cylinder. The left side of the frame is marked with the Webley Flying Bullet Logo and the words, Webley Patents. The production date for this revolver is 1885, and, is considered an "antique" which can be shipped directly to your door without an FFL license. This is the second pattern which is notable for its large barrel latch lever. The Webley Government Pattern revolver with this improved side lever bolt was available from the Army & Navy Co-operative Stores in 1883. This revolver is missing some small areas of nickle plating on the frame notably just above the top of the grips and on the grip straps. The entire barrel and barrel lug assembly back to the frame retains almost 99% of the nickle finish. However, there is a small spot (1cmx2cm) on the cylinder which has moderate pitting. The cylinder has not been modified in any way. It is in original .455 cal. The checkered Walnut grips have no cracks or chips missing. The bore is bright and excellent. The revolver is excellent mechanically. Another feature that makes this a very rare revolver is the fact that it was retailed by one of the finest English Gunmakers of the period. The top rib of the barrel is marked, "Holland & Holland 98 New Bond St. London." If this revolver were in perfect condition it would sell for several thousand dollars. But, because of the condition problems with the finish on this one, the price has been greatly reduced. This is the chance for one of the beginner collectors to acquire a rare, Webley Revolver Type for his collection at a bargain price. This is a huge revolver and it just feels great in your hand.
