Original Winchester 1892, built in 1905, lever action 'Octagon Barrel' Serial #313xxx in extremely nice condition. Family owned, vintage collector recently deceased and family has decided to liquidate his collectible, vintage collection. This is a .357 Mag, but will confirm, been informed a rebore from original 25-20, 32-20, 38-40 or 44-40. It has the octagon barrel. (23 1/2" to front of chamber) Additional details: I've been recommended to contact Winchester to inquire if they may have custom built this gun, or performed a modification at the factory? The serial # distinguishes that it was manufactured 1905, the 23" octagon barrel has been re-bored from an original 25-20, 32-20, 38-40 or 44-40 to a .357 mag (Winchester may have done this), the rear sight has been changed to a Williams Peep Sight, the front is a ramp sight. Both much superior to standard version. The mechanism has been re-lacquered to give it a much smoother action than original. Comments from local gunsmith is "All the work has been exceptional" and could be valued much higher than the asking price.
