Meticulously hand refurbished by James River Armory, a highly respected military firearms restorer. This is an original German K98 Mauser with intact Nazi markings (peened Swastikas) and proof stamps, and with matching serial numbers on major components (some re-serialized). Correct stock finish and markings. No import marks, but likely an Russian capture rifle. This rifle was built by Gustloff Werke, Weimar) in 1943, with only 315,107 produced (Richard D. Law, “Backbone of the Wehrmacht – The German K98K Rifle 1”). Interestingly, the barrel is also stamped "bcd” indicating that is was manufactured by Gustloff Werke, and has the same Waffenamt acceptance stamp as the receiver, so likely the original barrel. This is a nice WWII rifle with very well-defined rifling, and a historical piece without question. This rifle has an original laminated stock set with correct finish, properly cartouched; original sights and bands, the front sight with a hood; correct butt plate for the manufacturer and year; all critical areas inspected and headspace checked for safety by a certified armorer; all metal detail refinished in proper bluing and polish. This is a genuine German Nazi Mauser, made in Germany, and now becoming very scarce in this condition and prices continue to rise. Use it to shoot, for re-enactment, for modernizing with its time-proven action, or to collect. Comes with a one-month James River warranty for functionality, and a Plano Gun Guard case.
