Here is a very interesting variant of the tried and true Kalashnikov AK type rifle line, made in Russia by veteran machinists. This is their .410 gauge auto shotgun, and a sturdy little auto it is. We have planted a few of these locally, and they give excellent service and great, if expensive, entertainment, given the priceyness of .410 gauge ammunition. Each Saiga comes with a 4 round detachable magazine for a total of 4 + 1 capacity, 3 inch .410 gauge shells. Barrel length is 20 inches with the choke tube installed, or 18 1/2 inches with the choke tube removed; and overall length is a compact 42 1/4 inches. Weight empty is a well balanced 7 1/4 pounds, so these are exceptionally light recoiling shotguns. Sights are drift adjustable notch rear and fixed bead front and stock and forend are durable black synthetic, equipped with integral sling swivel studs. Action, of course, is gas operated semi-auto. The muzzle constriction on the included #3 Full Choke tube is .378 range, a very tight full choke for a .410; but without the tube, constriction measures .402 range cylinder bore. These are legal, of course, in our Sister State of Mississippi for deer hunting with Buckshot. Bore, chamber, and gas tube interior are all chrome lined for maximum durability. Saigas, of course, have inflated in the past two years; they still are hard to come by. Manufacturer is Izmash in Russia; Importer is TGI, Tennessee Guns, our East Tennessee neighbors; and model is simply Saiga. We hear of them bringing prices upwards of $600 apiece.
