Manufacturer is Sig Sauer Inc. of Newington, NH, so marked on the frame. Exclusive distributor is Talo, Inc., of Framingham, MA. Magazine subcontractor to Sig Sauer is Check-Mate Industries of West Babylon, New York. Sight subcontractor is Meprolight Ltd. of Or-Akiva, Israel. Type is locked breech hammer fired traditional single and double action semi automatic service pistol. Construction is steel slide, barrel, trigger, hammer, and internal parts all assembled into a lightweight alloy grip frame. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 4 1/4 inch with six groove 1:9.75 right hand rifling. Slide has serrated rear lateral surfaces and is 1.02 wide at the port. Sights are steel dovetailed front and rear, Mepro MH3 Siglite luminous Night Sights, three white dot in full light. Frame incorporates a 3 slot M1913 Picatinny rail for optics or light mounting. Grips are Hogue Rosewood Laminate with Sig satin nickel medallions and lower panel cut checkering. Trigger is .350 smooth face combat type, housed inside a square trigger guard. Hammer is .312 serrated spur. Trigger is two stage on double action, 1/4 inch to engagement with 1 inch of travel to fire position, 12 pound vicinity pull. Single action pull is two stage as well, about 3/8 inch to engagement with 6 pound vicinity pull with minimal felt creep and overtravel. The P226 does not have or need a manually operated safety; it has a firing pin safety. Magazines are all steel 15 rounders, only with black polymer cartridge follower, so 15 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Weight empty is 32 ounces, with center of gravity just forward of the magazine release. Weight fully loaded is approximately 43 ounces. Finish is coated natural alloy frame, matte surface stainless slide, and with Nitron finished levers, barrel, trigger, hammer, and releases. Grip screws are polished surface blued. Trigger guard face and front strap both have checkered serrations. Each P226 Elite comes in its labeled and serialized factory hard shell case with a total of two magazines, hang tag, protective papers, chamber protector, factory cable lock, Sig ammunition flyer, NRA enrollment form, Sig decal, and instruction manual with warranty statement and factory registration card.
