Description: I bought this used from a gun store in 1999, the very last day it could be purchased legally in California. You can't buy it if you live in California. Maybe other places too. Like probably not New York City. It's currently registered as an assault weapon in California. I'm moving and the people I'm going to be renting from don't want their address listed as that of an "Assault Weapon Owner", which it would be because California is intent on knowing where all guns like this are and I'm intent on not violating the law. It's in what I consider to be very good condition for what it is. I know that's subjective. It's got wear and some (what I consider to be) minor dings. For example, the front sling screw was obviously unscrewed by a meathead. Don't buy it if you're looking for a cherry. It functions properly. I've shot it a few times, maybe 100 rounds total (of some various gun show ammo). I've never had a misfeed or any other problem. I've never had it apart nor did any cleaning other than by pulling a bore snake through the barrel. I've kept it in a gun safe with dessicant and I've not had any problems with rust with any of my guns. It comes with 4 20-round magazines. I also have 2 of the "other" kind of twenty round magazines with the big lug for a catch on the tail (but that prevents it from fitting this rifle, but perhaps could with some minor modification) that I'll throw in. This magazine is what I think is called the metric version. It's the kind with the cheaper to produce catch on the back of the magazine. I'll also throw in a scope mount kit that I bought but never tried to install, so can't say whether it fits correctly or not. Reading the instructions led me to believe that there's a bit more involved to mounting it than I felt like doing. The bolt pull-back lever is operated with the left hand, slightly awkward until you get used to it. I'll only accept USPS money order for payment, not interested in anything else. I'm also not interested in you returning the gun to me. I think it's not even legal to ship it back to California. So buyer agrees he's buying it "as is" with no warranties. It's obviously used, but not thrashed (in my opinion) by any means. It's fully as depicted here. It shows some wear, but no real flaws that I can tell. It's been looked over and fired by a lifelong, qualified rangemaster/gunsmith who says it's in great condition. In fact, he wants to buy it from me, but I'm only going fully legit. The paperwork says "L1A1" The stamp on the RIGHT side of the rifle says "R1A1 Sporter CAL 308 Receiver by Hesse US (and another stamp that starts: ST, but them becomes illegible, as if it wasn't stamped hard enough to imprint) Assembled by CAI St. Ab. VT 006731 The left side, by the safety, has the number 6872 stamped into it. This looks like an original stamp from when the gun was originally built. This thing looks, feels and is obviously a chunk of machinery designed simply to accomplish the job of flinging metal cylinders rapidly, not to look pretty while doing it. It ain't gonna win any beauty contests. If that's what you're looking for, that's what it is. I'll pay for the cheapest shipping to a lower 48 FFL (not including any illegal places, like California)

Shipping Notes: Must be shipped to a Bona fide FFL. I'll pay the cheapest shipping to get it to an FFL in a legal lower 48 state, but that's all.
FAL FN Sporter 58, 7.62 X 51 NATO, pistol grip, 4 magazines (20-rnd)
Scope mounting kit, but I can't vouch for the scope kit because I never tried to install it.
All numbers match, shoots fine, Not new, but in what I consider great shape for what it is. See pix.
Don't buy it if you're expecting a cherry.
This rifle was used when I bought it in 1999. I've only shot it a few times, maybe 100 rounds total. Never a misfire or any problem
Purchase must be through FFL and all legit.
I'm selling it because I'm going to be moving in with a family that doesn't want to be on a list of "California Assault Weapons Owners" because in Californa it's a registered assault weapon and the government wants to know where all these guns are at all times, so I'm required to tell them when I move.
PAYMENT ONLY WITH USPS MONEY ORDER. NOTHING ELSE CONSIDERED.
