This listing is for ONE pistol. Photos are representative, but buyer will receive same grade pistol from the same department. Here are attractive Star model BM9 compact 1911 style pistols. Manufacturer was Star Echeverria, S.A., of Eibar, Spain. Manufacture dates were 1975 - 1979. These pistols served with the Guardia Civil, the Spanish Guardia or Federales, from their issuance until 1993, when they were replaced by the 92 Beretta. Type is single action, locked breech semi automatic pistol. The BM9 is a marriage of Browning and Tokarev designs. Chambering is 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Luger, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 3 1/2 inches, with six groove 1:9.75 right hand rifling. Slide is external extractor with rear serrations, Tokarev style bushing and full length guide rod. Sights are stake on serrated ramp front, with dovetailed notch rear that is drift adjustable for windage only. Trigger is .312 white sides with blued serrated face, and hammer is matching traditional serrated medium spur .312. Safety is non reversible for right hand shooters; it engages in a well defined slot on the left side of the slide, and the main safety functions in two positions, both with the hammer back on cocked-and-locked carry, and with the hammer down in resting position. The safety lever also engages into a disassembly position midways of the slide. This pistol is not equipped with a firing pin safety, hence its crisp 4 pound vicinity trigger pull with negligible felt creep. Magazine is original factory Star 8 rounder, so capacity is 8 + 1 rounds of 9mm Luger. Weight empty is 34.2 ounces, balanced at the magazine release area of the trigger guard. Measurements are 6 7/8 inches from the muzzle to the rear of the frame strut; 5 inches from the top of the rear sight to the butt edge of the grip frame; .704 inch frame thickness and .838 inch slide thickness. Grip panels are factory issue black checkered composite. Markings are factory on the slide’s and frame's left side; Spanish Guardia numbers and symbols on the right side. For purposes of U.S. Law, the Importer stamp right side slide and SBM prefix serial number are the numbers of record. Finish is Dura Coat flat black refinish, similar to Guardia Issue matte blue. Surface detractions are minimal, principally wear to the grip panels. We rate these BM9s as Very Good Refinish, perhaps even Excellent Refinish, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Chrome lining to bore will show wear forward of the chamber; otherwise, chamber, bore and mechanism are clean and clear. We estimate each pistol has been fired fewer than 2,000 times during its career with the Guardia, no rounds at all for a steel framed Star. Each one comes in its well worn but original factory box with cleaning rod and Spanish language instruction manual. Replacement pricing on any European or American made 1911 type pistol these days pushes upwards of $800. We’re offering the Spanish Star BM 9 in the photos, however, or one of its essentially identical mates, each for only $ 219.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California or Massachusetts.
