Description: This Colt SAA with 7.5” barrel in .38 WCF (.38-40) was shipped from the factory October 20, 1904, to Harper and Reynolds Company, Los Angeles, California (serial #259718). It is in very good condition with probably 70% of its original factory blue and traces of case coloring. It is mechanically tight with a very nice bore and only very light frosting.

The grips appear original to the gun, but are not numbered. The inside of the right grip is inscribed “F. S. Testera Oct. 6, 05.” And “Testera”. The gun was the property of Frank Stewart Testera (b. Kansas, 1887- d. California, 1949), who was for twenty years the chief electrician (and camera man?) on the Charles Chaplin lot in Hollywood. He also patented a re-wind apparatus for movie film in 1939. It would appear he acquired this Colt within a year of its shipment, and he may have been the first owner.

The Colt is kept in a vintage George Lawrence Company, Portland, OR, single loop heavy leather holster.
