The Lightfield 3 1/2 inch Rifled Slug load develops well over 4700 foot pounds of muzzle energy, and this shotgun is chambered for it. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Type is pump or slide action shotgun. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, and parts, built into a light weight alloy receiver with polymer trigger housing, forend, and buttstock. Chambering is for 12 gauge slugs, from 3 1/2 inch Magnums to 3 inch, to 2 3/4 inch shells interchangeably. Capacity is 5+1 on 2 3/4 inch, and 3+1 on 3 1/2 inch and 3 inch shells. Barrel is 24 fluted, .944 outside diameter and .720 inside diameter at the muzzle; and 1.21 inches OSD at the chamber. Sight system is steel welded base, dovetailed brass beaded steel blade front, and Williams 3 piece 700 type screw on black blade alloy rear that is windage and elevation adjustable. Since the barrel’s lug fits over the magazine and the cap secures with a detent, magazine extensions are easily installed, and we do it frequently ourselves. Receiver is drilled for a Weaver #88 or 417 four screw base or similar rail. Safety is top tang style; and the LPA center set steel trigger pulls at just under 5 pounds with negligible felt creep and overtravel. Length of pull is 14 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 7/8 inch black factory recoil pad. Weight empty is 6 pounds 11 ounces, with center of gravity at the rear sight. Buttstock drop at comb is 1 1/2 inches; and 2 1/2 at the rear, with a 3/4 inch right hand cant. Finish is Realtree Xtra® camo entirely, with the exception of matte black shell carrier, bolt, safety, and trigger. This 835 comes to us from Mossberg’s distribution system. It served light duty, likely with a sales rep or writer. The letter U is factory stamped near its serial number. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint occasional surface streaking or edge whitening. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate it has been fired no more than 50 times, if at all. It comes in a factory box with cable lock and instruction manual that bears Mossberg’s Statement of Warranty. Replacement pricing on this shotgun on Mossberg com was $620.
